I go slightly above my crease. My eyes are so hooded I do my crease above the crease. I'm 32 if that means anything, I think in another 10 years I might have to give up glitters because it highlights wrinkles.

I so appreciate that you actually address hooded eyes. Not only young but older. But this I love so much because I own so many colored shadow that I rarely use.
I feel like the bright colours made this more graspable. I’ve watched SO many neutral brown tutorials and I feel like I just don’t get it. I LOVED This. The colours are a bit outside my comfort zone. But thinking about my “sassy” colours I’d LIKE to use (and now, even the taupes) this helps so much!!!
What I love the most about your videos is the passion and thirst of beauty you show. You transmit this to your viewers and this is the job of a real artist.
THANK YOU! This tutorial is great because it gives options! I can't tell you the amount of tutorials I've seen for hooded eyes that say to never put eyeliner on the lower lashline, don't line your water line, only do 3/4 of your top lid with eyeliner, don't do anything but matte because nobody's going to see your eyelid anyway, never do a wing, etc. It's almost like those tutorials are saying "your eye shape is undesirable so just don't wear much eye makeup because yuck". You tell us what we *can* do with this shape, and that makes a big difference.
Agreed! I personally have quite a bit of lid space but some of my clients are scared for me to use any bright colors/shimmers/or winged liner because they're convinced they're not allowed to do that.
You might want to check out Make up by Myrna (or Stephanie Lange) if that is all you find on youtube. I've never even seen those videos where do you find them? lol
Words can't express how much I treasure you, Wayne. I got into makeup 10 years ago and your channel played a big part in that. Wayne, please please a tutorial for hooded eyes plus glass wearer! Eye makeup... I struggle with getting to colors show on my face 😢 First, very little lid area and on top of that my glasses act as barrier 😢😢 Please Wayne
Yeah:( my prescription is pretty high that my eyes look really small with glasses and I can't apply makeup without glasses on cause I can't see my face in the mirror. So I wear contacts instead
Thank you for showing us older women with hooded eyes a better way to look and feel better. You were so sweet in helping me feel better about a problem area, you made me cry.
Omg I just tried this technique for the first time today and although I need more experience I have to say it’s worked the best compared to others. Thank you for this detailed video, I thought I was hopeless with eyeshadow but finally found a good fit yay!

When it's been decades and you still have that spark in your eye and still have the curiosity to try out new things. Because of Wayne I can trust that my love of makeup will last decades as well, hooded eyes be damned!
One of my favorite hooded-eye tutorials ever. The choice of using brighter colours made it more visible what the techniques actually were. Your approach is very friendly too, not elitist, not copied, just really nice. PS: Hell yeah shimmer under the eyebrow, I really need to lighten up the area around my eye, not just bc it's hooded, but because I wear glasses as well.
Same but now i use a clean blending brush to blend it all out n it works everytime :) i practiced at 3am wen my daughter was in bed (crazy i no) but its wen i cldnt sleep n got great at makeup now from practicing a lot
Me: I can’t put on decent makeup because I’m the only woman with a non feminine eyes’ shape. Also me: *sees this video of a man with wonderful makeup on and starts crying*
Completely agree. I almost always pull my shadows out at an angle like that as well as pull the shadow very high up almost to my eyebrows to make my eyes look less hooded and more open. I also never wear neutrals cause bright colors makes my eyes pop more (and its way more fun) lol. Having hooded eyes suck because you cant do the looks you wanna, but learning to work with my eyeshape and do what looks best on my hooded eyes have really made me like my eyes more
I get so frustrated with my hooded eyes. I see other people saying do such beautiful eye looks and it seems like I'm not skilled at eye makeup cuz move don't look that way but it's so hard with hooded eyes people don't get it 😔 I really want to do vibrant beautiful looks

Coco J I’ve got hooded eyes too. I keep my eyes open. I think that’s the trick. Use a tissue, or a shadow shaper like Wayne had & press on a dark eyeshadow with a flat brush following your bottom lash edge that naturally points up, or out. By following that you get the right flick for your eye shape. You can just stamp once, or if you want it longer, just extend it another half a brush length until you’ve got the cat eye length you want ( I tend to only extend it a little) You can then go over with liner if you like, or leave it with shadow. This has been the technique that’s allowed me to do it, I hope it makes sense & helps : ) it’s exactly the same as Wayne did with the turquoise liner but with a flat brush for a defined flick
Same... I gave up on liquid/gel eyeliner. I've found that using a pencil and smudging it with a tiny bit of shadow (or sometimes nothing) is so much easier and much more forgiving ;)
Yes Yes Yes!!!! I saw a video of him mentioning that. He said to use bold colors underneath the eye. I have done this because I wear glasses and it works and it takes about 10 seconds to do. I makes a huge difference. I’m 50 and I rock bright pinks and purples and I love the look.
@@gluey27 i saw some glasses online made especially for that! They have only one lense that moves from one side to the other while the other side is open so you can do your makeup. Maybe that would help you!

I do it every day. I start with a lighter color for the inner lower lash line and a darker (but not super dark) shade on the outer 1/2 or 1/3 & bring it out a little and up to connect it to the outer lid
I use a nude pencil in my waterline and a nude shadow underneath my eye. I have almond shaped eyes and my lids are starting to hood a little with my age (44).
Cheryl Leadwood I do it everyday & will normally do a lighter colour inner 3rd then a darker colour for the other 2/3rds & just blend the join together a little. Start off with just a transition colour on the outside & a highlight on the inside until your more comfortable wearing stronger colours.

I remember another hooded video where he said to align the tissue w outer nose up the bottom edge of the eye but now he’s saying not to go diagonal now Idk which is best
Audra, there is different positions for different hooded eyes. This way Wayne showed us today is for the outer corner skin that hangs down.. Some females have it starting near their tear ducts.. Or in the middle of their upper lids... It really depends where you have the loose skin hanging down... Today's tutorial Wayne was explaining the bottom outer corner skin... I hope this helps..

Agree! Very helpful.
I want even more zoom 😝
I'm a 40 year old female with horribly hooded eyes. This is the BEST hooded eye tutorial I've seen so far! Thank you for showing me that I am not stuck with just nudes, neutrals, or browns for my eyes!!! I love your videos. You just gained a new subscriber! 😘👍🎨💄
Agreed! I personally have quite a bit of lid space but some of my clients are scared for me to use any bright colors/shimmers/or winged liner because they're convinced they're not allowed to do that.
xfortunesquex right! I want to use color, shimmer & liner not just use mattes
Amen!
I wear matte only on my brow bones and in my crease, and shimmers on my lids. That little bit of shine makes my lids stand out more.
You might want to check out Make up by Myrna (or Stephanie Lange) if that is all you find on youtube. I've never even seen those videos where do you find them? lol
Wayne Goss always out here Impressing me with his techniques and saving my makeup
Words can't express how much I treasure you, Wayne.
I got into makeup 10 years ago and your channel played a big part in that. I have severely hooded eyes at only 27 years old and somewhere along the way, I lost my touch. I've come to loathe makeup thanks to my overly hooded eyes that makes all my makeup look awful.
And not to throw all the other gurus under the bus but, they've all become so superficial it's easy to fall into a self deprecating mindset being surrounded by all the extreme vanity. I need to spend more time here with you to learn to love myself and my passions again.
Forever a loyal subbie. 💜
I came here to get away from PR unboxing, shady reviews, brand pleasing and for a Proper tutorial on makeup. I LOVE wanye for that.
He is by far one of the best hands down. I don't like the drama shady stuff
Haha. I didn't read his real name first, so Wanye just sounded like white Kanye
Omg, same!
This man is a legend... One day we will say we watched him here :)

Why does this sound as if he was dead? 😛 You're right though, he is one of my fave makeup youtubers
@@LadyLenachannel God forbid, long live Wayne! Just I found out about him couple of months ago, but considering how awesome he is, he should get more hype than all of so called beauty gurus online. I absolutely adore him!!!
I love how innovative you are and how you don't shy away from doing things against the "trends" because many tips and tricks that you've done, actually make sense and are applicable and work! I have been following your channel for years! I've learned so much! Thanks! Greetings from Arizona.
Wayne, please please a tutorial for hooded eyes plus glass wearer! Eye makeup... I struggle with getting to colors show on my face 😢 First, very little lid area and on top of that my glasses act as barrier 😢😢 Please Wayne
Yes please
Yes it is needed please
Yes, please
Yeah:( my prescription is pretty high that my eyes look really small with glasses and I can't apply makeup without glasses on cause I can't see my face in the mirror. So I wear contacts instead
I feel your struggle. I love the eye, but it doesn't work with my glasses.
I LOVE being able to see Wayne let himself "play" with makeup again and toss out some of his regular rules :) it shows how much you can really fall in love with something, you know? When it's been decades and you still have that spark in your eye and still have the curiosity to try out new things. Because of Wayne I can trust that my love of makeup will last decades as well, hooded eyes be damned!
Yesss I have hooded eyes and I LOVE color!
Lannnnnnnaaaaaaa I hear ya girl!! 🙌
Check out brens beauty boutique! She uses color all the time and her eye looks are amazing!
Pleasant voice, practical solutions, does makeup that belongs on adults- AAAAAAA+++++++++++++ Love this guy so so SO much.
*You’re the Bob Ross of makeup!*❤️

Thank You for your straight to the point techniques. Love that there's no BS just getting straight to business.
Oh dear....I have not seen that spark in your eyes in years....you're in love!
I thought the exact same thing!!!
Yesssss! I never know what to do with that stupid outer corner (where I connect my bottom lash line to the shadow on top)
krystal_ amescua girl I hear ya! I usually use tape most of the time to help me get that sharp affect!! Makes it so easy!!
Same but now i use a clean blending brush to blend it all out n it works everytime :) i practiced at 3am wen my daughter was in bed (crazy i no) but its wen i cldnt sleep n got great at makeup now from practicing a lot
same, I don't like doing it sharp and I never know how far out to blend it the normal way
Me: I can’t put on decent makeup because I’m the only woman with a non feminine eyes’ shape.
Also me: *sees this video of a man with wonderful makeup on and starts crying*
Me lol
no excuses. just practice. trust me, it gets better!
I'm sorry, but if you are woman... the shape of your eyes IS feminine! 💖
@niecers probably just meant blockier
tbf what's a non feminine eye shape xD
Love your hooded eye tips. I learn something new in each video. You've greatly improved my eyeshadow game!
Completely agree. I almost always pull my shadows out at an angle like that as well as pull the shadow very high up almost to my eyebrows to make my eyes look less hooded and more open. I also never wear neutrals cause bright colors makes my eyes pop more (and its way more fun) lol. Having hooded eyes suck because you cant do the looks you wanna, but learning to work with my eyeshape and do what looks best on my hooded eyes have really made me like my eyes more
Annette's Makeup Corner Annette! 😘😘😘😘
I get so frustrated with my hooded eyes. I see other people saying do such beautiful eye looks and it seems like I'm not skilled at eye makeup cuz move don't look that way but it's so hard with hooded eyes people don't get it 😔 I really want to do vibrant beautiful looks
@@dawnwr30 Girl keep practicing! I do plenty of tutorials on my channel if you wanna see some colorful looks 😘
I love colourful eyes especially orange. I wear no dark colours and no black eyeliner. If I wear eyeliner it makes my eyes look even smaller.

I'm liking the inset "zoom-in" and thanks for this tutorial. I've been wanting to play with color. P.S. The number of the brush you used at 8:20 and the one at 9:53 is missing from the captions.
Hate my hooded eyes eyeliner is a nightmare
I tend to use a dark eyeshadow with a liner brush, it keeps the liner thinner on the top lid 🙂 still struggle with any sort of cat eye flick though!
Coco J I feel ya on that one!!
I thought id never b able to do a cat eye till i tried a brush! Used a wider slanted brush n it worked 😇 everyones hooded eye n eye shape is different tho
Thank you, Wayne. My waterline gets teary when I use kohl liner. I can't wait to try this look.
I appreciate the magnification in this video.💕Thanks so much for using colors as I'm so tired of the multi browns😒
Do you have any tutorials for glasses wearers?
Ulliana Veigantt I can’t see to put make up on without my glasses.
@@gluey27 I use a 12x magnifying mirror. I can do my eyeshadow just fine, but it's scary to see those pores up close!
Will find one and try it
Yes Yes Yes!!!!
I really love that in 2019 I can watch a man tell me how to do my make up and gain some valuable insight. Gonna see if you have an eyeliner tutorial for hooded eyes, this is where I struggle.Thank you for the info!
+Flea Watch his second video (better than the 1st one) of gel liner on an eyelash curler for eyeliner. Genius!
‘It’s just makeup’ - Well thank god for you Wayne. It really is. Just do what makes you happy. Life motto right there. I’ve very hooded eyes, tell you what, good enough for Ava Gardner, good enough for me, I do what I please, for me, not for anyone else’s benefit. Winged eyeliner is definitely tricky, but we always want what we can’t have, just find a way to make I work for you i say. Always enjoy your videos. Happy New Year.
The labels keep saying "Brush No." But doesn't actually give the numbers you're using. I just got your brushes so I'd love to know which ones you used at which part! I am Asian AND in my 40s, so my eyes are beyond hooded, and I love trying new techniques.
I thought it was just me, so I guess they really aren't showing up!

I’ve been using this technique for years, I discovered it playing with makeup when I was in middle/high school. I’m 24 now and appreciate a more subtle natural makeup look but I definitely rocked this technique back then!
OMG the entire end of the video I only saw your one eye that was done. I had to remember to look at the other eye. Stunning results from this technique Wayne. Thank you so much for teaching it.
*Love* the wg icon. For the sake of contrast, you may want to either darken the tint of the "g" or change the colour as it fades into skin tone and/or potentially white background.

I am so happy I found this video! I have been watching TH-cam for makeup tutorials for YEARS! This is by far the most effective makeup technique I've ever used on my eyes. My eyes look more open and they don't look so messy with product. Thank you again, you've literally changed my makeup game🔥🔥🔥

Well Wayne, how refreshing are you?! Stumbled upon one of your videos and now I am hooked! I am 45 and totally buy into your no nonsense tutorials. Thank you for being real. I shall look forward to working my way through your back catalogue :-D Ciao!
Same, and I love it! I love that in 19/20, we can hear from.a guy how best to do makeup and he actually helps.
This is game changing!! I've always been so frustrated with my hooded eyes because most tutorials tell you to just put the eyeshadow higher, but I have really low eyebrows (I raise them in photos) so I don't have much room to work with (and sometimes looks ridiculous if I accidentally go too close them.) Extending it outwards make so much more sense. Thank you Wayne, you have the most informative makeup videos on TH-cam! 💜
Yay! I adore you and your videos. I have partially hooded eyes and your videos have helped me SO much. You're gorgeous and I love you😙
As a woman of color, these are the colors I use on my hooded eyes! I was told by a makeup artist I shouldn't use a coral shadow on the eye. I think it works perfectly for me. Your tutorial just validated the technique and the shades I love to use! Awesomesauce!

Honestly, as Soo as you tight lined your eye with that Kohl pencil it just pulled that look together and really created that eye popping look. Love!
I've always thought my eyes are small and horrible, only recently realised that I have hooded eyes! And I think the few wrinkles I have now make them look better, because they have more character. I love that you acknowledge how mature skin behaves, we need more advice and techniques that work for mature skin! Love Your attitude - Yes, makeup should be fun! Subbed!
I would love some advice in a future video on what to do when your mascara falls. I've tried many brands and I always end up looking like a panda after a few hours. I avoid using mascara on my lower lashes now to minimise this effect but is there anything I could use to prevent this from happening? Thanks!
I was always told that because I have intensely hooded eyes all the way to the corners, that wearing eye makeup is impossible for me. I've never been able to figure out how to do a look that works, as my eyes are so hooded that the skin rests on my eyelashes and fully folds over the corners, which smears everything even if I somehow manage to make any of it visible at all. This is an excellent tutorial, and by far the most helpful for me. I have. some hope I can wear eye makeup now. Thank you so much! ❤️
effluviah my skin lays on my eyelashes too and on top of that I have huge bags under my eyes from hypothyroidism. Even if I could get my eye makeup to help my hooded eyes, I still have the huge bags and I’ve not seen anything addressing this problem. Even if there was one , mine are just too bad to work with. I’ve even had strangers comment on my eyes because of the bags.

I have never put shadow under my eyes would you do that for a special occasion or everyday use. Love your vids and the magnifying circle very cool
I use a lighter/softer colour under my eyes for day use Really adds another dimension and very pretty!! Give it a go :)
I do it every time i wear makeup on my lower 3rd of the outer eye however my mum does the whole under eye as we have different eye shapes
Cheryl Leadwood I do it everyday & will normally do a lighter colour inner 3rd then a darker colour for the other 2/3rds & just blend the join together a little. Start off with just a transition colour on the outside & a highlight on the inside until your more comfortable wearing stronger colours.
You are Truly a blessing Wayne,Simply perfect !
