Thank you for this honest truth. I for one, in the 50+ group, appreciate hearing the truth instead of empty promises that never work. For me it’s not about trying to look 20 years younger but rather just looking the best I can at the age I am.

True! Real life is very different from what is posted in social media. We all try to post the best pictures on Instagram because otherwise no one is going to even look at them and we all film videos with professional lights on which are never around irl. :) I try to keep my editing minimal, but it's still not real life. But then again, irl, we never examine someone's makeup so closely. :D

You're so right Wayne. I'm 47 this month and don't have many wrinkles but I look my age. My skin looks younger without foundation but I like the way I look better with it on.
I so wish we could change the way we think about ageing. I finished chemo/radiotherapy yesterday. I've had cancer twice. 15-20 years ago, I would probably have died but because we have wonderful scientists constantly finding new treatments, I am still alive and looking forward to the future. It is an honour to have wrinkles. We should be wearing them with pride instead of hating the way we look.
Anyway, thank you for doing this. I really enjoyed it and you are so right. 😘😘😘😘

This youth-obsessed world is ridiculous. I agree... the whole world needs to realize that age is a number, and NO ONE can outrun getting older (at least not yet... scientists claim we may only be 5 or 10 years away from that little miracle medicine that stops a lot of the aging process). And us older ladies and gents have a HUGE advantage over our younger generations: wisdom and maturity!

I'm sick to death of these young woman who have flawless faces and are talking about their wrinkles and hooded eyes. It's so ridiculous! They will regret all this botox and fillers someday. As in all things relating to botox and fillers (FDA), it will later be determined this actually made your skin on your face age faster and is likely to be detrimental in a long run. When they can't get it anymore, that skin that stretched from all the botox and fillers giving you a smooth face, is going to look much worse than if you didn't use them. Fact is, we are going to age and all the things you do for temporary relief in your looks aren't that healthy and in a long run, will be found to be not so hot. Injecting a toxin in your face isn't smart.

I forget my true propose for all the beautiful cosmetics in my collection on occasion -- to keep me looking soft, pretty and chic while playing up my features, rather than buying and buying in literal vain hoping for some sort of silly magic product promised to bring the skin and features of my 20s and 30s to reappear before my very eyes! I'm so burnt out with new releases, the next better thing, the beauty item I can't live without ... I've got enough high-end, mid-range and budget-friendly cosmetics, skincare items and devices to last me a lifetime, if I spent my time using what I've got properly and only investing when something really is a breakthrough! If you suddenly start getting wrinkles, white hair, extreme shedding and extremely dry skin, I should start to worry. There are thyroid diseases and very high cortisol levels which can cause these terrible symptoms and one can die also from this. So yes, one should be concerned rather than being proud to show off the deterioration of skin and health.

This video is so honest and truthful. I am a makeup artist and the most frustrating part about applying foundation and concealer on my older clients is when they expect it to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and then feel disappointed when they look to see they are still there and are sometimes more enhanced! I thought it was something I was doing wrong in my technique, so Thankyou for this video 💓

Exactly! Love you, Wayne, for making sure everybody remembers to hold on to reality. And I LOVE your smile wrinkles! Those are my favourite! I don't understand how that's become a bad thing, either. Imagine botoxing away your "crow's feet". Those are like, the way our mirror neurons sense the sincerity of a smile!!! I love wrinkles. Texture is gorgeous.

Hugs Wayne. I am 67 and lucky enough to have really great skin. I have never worn foundation, concealer, or powder. But recently got involved with Bareminerals and learned the correct way to use their mineral loose powder foundation. It is a light coverage and I really love it for all the reasons you just discussed. Your videos are wonderful. Thanks..

62 here almost 63 & appreciate this! I have & love 4 products; Estée Lauder Double Wear, MAC Face and Body, MAC Studio Fix powder foundation & MAC ProLongWear concealer used as a tinted moisturizer mixed with skin cream.
I sometimes wonder about other things that claim to bounce light but the others I try never work as well as these 4. And these don’t collect in my pores and rub off elsewhere leaving the weird polka dots of white in a sea of redness, blotches & sun damage.
I use them alternating based on what I am doing that day and what I’m feeling like.
At the end of the day (literally) I notice my face still looks tired and wrinkly. But with these 4 it is still looking more even.
The best one is the Face & Body. It stays looking like skin but filtered.

Wayne, you are so right. I'm 62 and I'm blessed with even color skin...but it's very sensitive and even a mineral makeup irritates my skin. The good thing is, you've helped me to see that less is more. Just enhancing a few areas on my face seems to work out better at my age.

At age 62 I was ready to gave up on wearing foundation. It makes all my wrinkles and fine lines look awful to me. But I'm very pale , blotchy and washed out looking without makeup so foundation does give my skin a more even look. So I guess I'll just settle for the foundation creeping into my wrinkles for now anyway.

I've followed you for a number of years now as I love that you don't just focus on doing pretty face tutorials alone (aka, "look how hot I look with this make-up on" - don't get me wrong, I like that stuff too) - you actually talk about real problem-solving with make-up (the technical aspect), skin care and the importance of SPF and such.

I mix primer with a bit of light foundation, and one drop of oil, then on top I do minimal powder, spray Evian, dab that off and dab mattifying liquid on here and there to blur any lines left! People always say I have nice skin and think I’m about 15yrs younger than I am...I just let them keep thinking that too 🤔🤫

I have only been using a tinted moisturizer because I did not want to bring attention to the wrinkles and sagging skin.
