Incredible song. To this day, I find it amazing that Vanessa Williams was featured on this song. It came out of nowhere. I guess you just had to be alive during that time to understand the situation lol. P-Funk-4-Life
With no disrespect to bass players who play the super high end basses ( including myself ) the axe that Steve Washington is snapping on this joint is no other than the Ubiquitous 4 String maple board Fender Jazz Bass with the classic ( eat up your finger's and fretboard ) Rotosound round wound joints that were the rage back in the day .. The 70’s Fender Jazz is still the Funk weapon when called upon for the Funkadelic Alum
Reminds me of Prince due to pitched down clap and groove and call-and-response style. Very Solid GC cut from that era. Proud owner of the single and the LP ;)
My jam since 1986
I diffinenly wish those days were still here much love for the beautiful music 🤗🤗❤❤
THANK,YOU,THANK YOU,STILL SOUNDS AS GOOD AS 32YEARS AGO....FUNK ON ANOTHER LEVEL!
Female co-lead is Vanessa Williams.

That 808 beat pounds some serious bass
Still the hottest jam 2023 🎉
Steve “The Fearless Leader” Washington was a BEAST on the boards for this joint!! That bass line is INSANE!!!
Good for you recognizing the Slave Fame
Classic 🎼🎤🎧 real musicians in full effect
Funk on another level I tell ya. We used to do the "Cabbage Patch" to this one.
wonderful - GEORGE CLINTON
GC and prince co produced a Vanessa Williams album that's unreleased they said it was too funky for urban radio

This was right after she was stripped of the beauty crown, her FIRST foray into music,as always George gave her dat comeback from purgatory

always lived the 12' version for the fact it has those extras "go-go" at the end

Is the drum clap made on a Claptrap drum machine, and are the keys played backwards, like Atomic Dog was? Thanks for the great music.
