I retired a few years back. I welded in the Texas heat for 35 years. The last 30 for the same company. I stayed at the last company so long because we were allowed to have an ipod to help us take our minds off the Texas heat and cold winters. This music is what got me through everyday. People would ask me" How can you smile and be so happy in this scorching heat🥵?? My magic was this music along with the memories that came with them. My mind would take me back to where I was and what I was doing when I used to hear that particular song. My mind would be on the memories not the heat. I will leave this earth with this music in my ❤️🎶🎵🤗

    • @wmw4339
      @wmw4339 5 ปีที่แล้ว +43

totally with you @GregoryCarr! CHIC (is) amazing! And, their contribution to world music is unsurpassed. I would bet that there are probably hundreds of musical acts over the years that have sampled Nile and Bernard's stuff. After 40+ years and I still can't get enough of it. Doubt they'll ever make it into the RRHOF unless there's a strong campaign behind the effort. Ironically, not everyone has an appreciation for this style of music. They didn't notice Donna Summer until after her passing and she (is) a worldwide Phenom. Sade (another worldwide Phenom) hasn't made the cut, either. Kinda makes you say," hmmm..." Let's see if Janet Jackson gets in (and I'm not holding my breath...lol!) Just goes to show how political this charade is. It is really unfortunate.

It’s called talent. Their music is heavily sampled by rappers, yet the group couldn’t get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because of the disco music stigma. Nile Rodgers’ guitar-playing has a distinctive sound, and Bernard Edwards is/was one of the best bass players ever.

I want your love, I want your love
I want your love, I want your love
I want your love, I want your love
Do you feel, like you ever want to try my love and see how well it fits?
Baby, can't you see when you look at me?
I can't kick this feeling when it hits
Oh, all alone, in my bed at night
I grab my pillow and squeeze it tight
    I think of you
And I dream of you, all of the time
    What am I gonna do?
I want your love, I want your love
(You know I want your love, you know I need your love)
I want your love, I want your love

Sometimes, don't you feel like you never really had a love that's real?
Well, here I am and who's to say
A better love you won't find today
Gimme just one chance and I will show you love like no other (like no other)
Two steps above (like no other)
I'm your ladder, I'll be your path
I want your lovin', please don't make me beg
    (Please don't make me beg)

    I'll share my dreams
And make you see how really bad your love, I need
I want your love, I need your love
Just like the birds needs sky above
    I'll share my dreams
And make you see how really bad your love, I need
    I'll share my dreams
And make you see how really bad your love, I need
I want your love, I want your love

No political correctness, no BS, low crime rates, people generally happy all the time, it was a beautiful era with equally beautiful music in the charts, no duff groups singing duff crap like you have today, all hyped up jacked pushed out as the biz n the real thing. No, sorry but "the real thing" has come and gone, the song you hear in this video, is a shadow of that past time, past joy, past freedom expression and soul beauty. What GREAT memories this song and Chic brings me! I graduated high school in 78' and was immediately hired to Boeing in the engineering dept that same summer (Thanks to my architecture teacher's referral). I bought a brand new Toyota Celica GT coupe notchback with wire wheels and landau roof at age 17 (parents had to authorize me to start working at Boeing at age 17). I had so many haters and people that didn't believe that was my car because of my age. This song, Chic and R&B of that time period brings back many great great memories! Back then we knew every band by their distinct sound, unlike groups today who all sound like each other! Like every generation, my generation thought our music of the time was best (and it was, and still is!), that's why there r so many remixes from that period still today. Great funk never dies!!!

Dang, man. They hated you going all "establishment" at 17. 🤣 I expect it paid off well. GOOD for you. That was a fast car indeed! I hope it served you well until you traded it on a Jaguar. (My preference!). Anyway...cool story.

first of all, its a damn good song...incredibly produced, and VERY well written. Catchy, but not overly so. Bass line, FOR DAYS...the strings give you an otherwordly feel...and those bells, actually make the song, believe it or not. Bottom line, "I Want Your Love" LITERALLY defined the era of disco, at its peak.. Its New York, to the bone.
