In response to Susan's comment about missing all her favorite tv shows back then before vcr's, I used to take my brother's panasonic tape recorder and at least tape the audio from the shows, but of course the audio tapes back then were only 15 minutes a side so you had to be there to flip it over lol - Great episode!!!!!

Total recall is so much fun... loved hearing about the mischief in and out of the house and everything in between , as kids, during your heyday! Great stories! Great episode.. looking forward to next week's episode! 😘

I loved your recollections of Santa Monica...and your life in Tinsel Town.. I remember the destruction of your musical equipment and it all being thrown in your pool and wondered who could do such a thing to this wonderful family?? I first learned about it on the news..yes it was broadcast on CBS I believe..just a snippet but I found out more through 16 magazine. It should have been investigated more thoroughly so you got some answers..was the equipment insured? I d be interested to know what happened when you left that house . What were your lives like then? How did you cope? Did you all stay/live in the same area of the country? Interesting podcast..ty.. Happy Birthday Susan!!

Hi guys! Susan, I'm w/ you concerning the weather in the South! Humidity is my sworn enemy & we get tornadoes now when back when I was younger (late 50's-70's) we never had ANY! Well anyway, I just wanted to thank Y'all for this video of your memories! It brings back memories to me! You mentioned Willie Shoemaker. I remember his name, even though I didn't start watching the Derby until maybe 15-20 y/ago! Then you mentioned smog! In those years I split my time between Chicago during the school year & summer Mama & I would come home to Georgia. We're next door to Chattanooga, TN (where I saw the guys in '69. Y'all may remember it because Susan & your Mom weren't there that night. Apparently they were under the weather). Back then, Chattanooga took the undesirable award for THE most polluted air in the nation. Coming off the Ridge or looking down from the mountain, all you could see is a bowl of yucky brown-yellow, as Paul truthfully described! They closed all the foundries, so Daddy went to Chicago for work.
Hey guys, I can't finish the video right now. I was just informed that my cousin who was more like a sister to me just passed away. I'll come back when I can. Thanks again for the memories.

Really enjoying the conversations, the enthusiasm and positive vibes are infectious! This one was a real eye opener in terms of learning what this echelon of performers has to endure logistically to keep making the big bucks (ha!). As a former road musician that never made it above bar band status, I can empathize. No bus for us, just a van with a rented U-Haul, usually driven by me as the lone non-drinker...

Also coming to the Ryman! (As long as Fl doesn’t get a hurricane, and that’s peak season😳) But seeing Cowsills AND Mark-so happy together!-is worth the gamble.

I just love these great stories ! I have followed the band since day one and I am glad to still be here listening to their new stuff. As an old musician, the thought of all that equipment in the pool just makes me ill !!

OMG! I know who threw your equipment into the pool and it wasn't us!!! (my sister, 2 step-sisters and a school friend.) I don't remember the circumstances on how we first met you Susan. But you invited us to come over and we all would play on your trampoline. You introduced us to Barry and John, we were all friends, they were allowed to go horseback riding with us, but your Mom said you were too young to go. We didn't live on La Mesa, but on Marguerita Ave (425.) Susan, you mentioned a girl named Robin, her family lived a few houses up from yours. I actually happened to run into Robin back in the mid--90"s at a mutual friend's wedding. We spoke about the La Mesa days and All of you. She "fessed up" and told me that it was her older sister and some guys they knew who threw your equipment into your pool! I asked her if she would mail me all of the info which she did. I was hoping that I would see at least one of you so I could give Robin's letter to you. Turns out, I saw Bob was playing at The Sidewalk Cafe and I went down to give it to him. I've been to The Fox and Hounds a few times, when I still lived in L.A. area, now, I'm in Palm Springs, UGH! The Summer heat here sucks! One day, I'll make it back to the Westside, not S.M., but in the Valley area, Sherman Oaks, Valley Village... The last time I saw all of you together in concert (except for Billy) was at The Benefit Concert for Billy. I didn't get a chance to say hi, all of you were busy with your kids when you weren't singing. Barry did come up to say hi and then asked me to buy him a shot. I told him I was a Nurse, so he didn't dare ask me for anything else. Catch my drift? I lost my brother a month before Barry passed away. I adored m brother! He was the baby, I was the oldest and we were both Nurses. Would love to see you in concert again and catch up. I've spoken to John - when he was drumming w/The BB's. (Screw M.L.) John's better off without them. Great to hear Vicki and John's music and Action Skulls. Hey Paul, thanks for the ride from La Mesa (back in the day) to The Brentwood mart. Loved that BBQ place there! You were driving either a Camaro or, a GTO, not sure which one, hell that was a LONG time ago! Ok, time to say adieu. Hope to see you in concert once again and catch up! Love, light and CHEERS to ALL of you! ~ Cynthia
