- Huge changes are coming soon!
In this video, I used two brief clips of footage from @Ericstrains. Although these are not technically under a Creative Commons license, Eric states on ericstrains.com (in the FAQ section): "If you'd like to use any of my photographs or videos for non-profit or personal use, feel free do so. I only ask that you give me credit for the photograph or video." I believe this video qualifies as non-profit use. Of course, if Eric contacts me and asks me to remove those clips, I will gladly do so.
All music in this video is licensed from Epidemic Sound.
As an O and G Scale modeler, welcome aboard! There’s a lot to enjoy with the bigger scales, so I’m looking forward to you exploring all it has to offer!
If he's leaving the hobby he's an imposter. Starting other scales will also be great, also lovely what I think is a custom locomotive
The locomotive is a custom painted and backdated Roundhouse 2-8-0. I thought it was fitting, since that same 2-8-0 (before all the paint and detail work) pulled the very first train on the W&SC.
All the best Michael for your future adventures. Look forward to following :)
No way! That’s really awesome that you’re moving to my home state! I’m part of some clubs in the area so if you’d like I can point you to the awesome train shows! Hope to see you around, Michael!
Good luck to ya man, safe trip.
Hey also, excellent choice of music, it helped change my gloomy mood. Thanks
Cool. When you get settled, start making your new layouts and scales 👍
Time for a whole new era. Lets see what it brings.
Welcome back to the US. We send you greetings from Ohio
I love the ho scale Westport & Shelter Cove no. 8 with the diamond stack. It sure is quite sad to see the last train on the Westport & Shelter Cove Railroad to run it's farewell run in your old house, sorry you're having to leave the West Coast, but I am certainly glad you're going to the east. There are lots of steam railroads in the east coast and lots of space for more model railroading, good luck at your new home when you get there!
BTW, I Love the doccumentary on Casey Jones, Top-Notch job on that!
#8 looks amazing. Thanks for uploading more footage of it like I asked! I hope O, N and G scale treats you well. I can already tell that terry is gonna give you a boxcar full of info. cheers from Colorado!
What a great video for the next chapter of your channel. That sure is a beautiful looking locomotive. I usually don’t like the older type locomotives like that. I am looking forward to seeing your new layout in the O gauge scale. I personally love all the gauges but I mainly model O gauge. I’m a new subscriber to the channel. Frank
Love to see it. Good luck with the move.
Congrats on 3️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ hope your move goes smooth..
Welcome to Massachusetts! we have some great hobby shops and some great layouts, although not many steam locomotives let alone running ones.
I strongly suggest you check out:
- Charles Ro Supply Company in Malden
- North East trains in Peabody
- Boston & Maine 410 in Lowell
- Trains on Tracks in Amherst NH
- and the Springfield train show
North East Trains, Trains on Tracks, and the Amherst show are already on my list!
All the best for your move, Michael! It sounds exciting.
I've been to the US six times now, but still haven't been anywhere near the North East.
Thanks! I'm looking forward to it - there's a lot of cool train stuff there.
Very good! I am also moving to the east coast a little over a month from now. Too much railroad goodness to be far away from
Best of luck in the eastern seaboard, oh also be sure to find some good model shops in your area.
Already on it - in fact, I might end up working at one!
Welcome to the States! Greetings from New Jersey!
For G scale check out the Rockwall Canyon Railway.
That’s so cool! I live in Massachusetts! You should try to look into joining the Providence Northern Model Railroad Club. It’s not too far over the state line in Rhode Island and they’re a bunch of really great people
Lovely
I really love that Athearn 2-8-0 it’s looks like it belongs in Red Dead Redemption 2. Also if your making an O scale layout do you plan on putting ho scale track becouse you have said before that you would like to have an On30 layout
I have considered making a narrow-gauge line part of the O scale layout. Not sure yet whether I'll figure out a way to do that in the space I have, but we'll see.
Awesome Michael. 😊 👍 O is fun.
Can’t wait to see what you get up to with the extra space! I don’t know much about O Scale, so this will be very interesting!! With the extra space do you plan on expanding the Westport and Shelter Cove as well?
Possibly! I've thought about adding a point-to-point logging branch line with steep grades, where I can run the Heisler and the Shay.
@@michaelramsey81 that would be really neat! Can’t wait for that if you do it!! Have you re-geared the shay yet though?
@@modelrailfan37 Nope, lol - I still have the unopened package of new gears in the loco's box with it. One day I'll get around to it.
@@michaelramsey81 Can’t blame you lol. I’m sure regearing it will not b3 an easy job…
Alright so its a loooong shot....but i was watching your bachmann modern 4-4-0 video and i noticed you mentioned it came with a few extra pilots (cow catchers) do you still have an extra and do you want to sell one 😅...i purchased 2 of them and both were missing the cow catcher lol. I made basically a switching pilot for one but id like a cow catcher for the other and i cant find a factory one anywhere.
I'll take a look through my parts box and see if I still have a spare one.
@michaelramsey81 oh that would be awesome 👏
Welcome back to massive two shites x )
Ether or, it will be fun. Now have you ever considered 2 rail O? It is like HO but big and like 3 rail but better.
I did consider 2 rail, but there's very little ready-to-run equipment available. I will most likely go with 3 rail for that reason.
I fully recommend you visit the Waterville washington and farmington railway in Maine. Also, the Great Falls Model Railroad club, also in Maine, is something to visit. If you ever go to Maine of course
The WW&F is already on my must-see list!
@michaelramsey81 theirs another 2 foot gauge railway in Portland ME that I also recommend you visit
One idea you might think about for the new layout is to make two levels.
You could do one level as O scale and have a second level be HO.
That way you get a decent size layout for both layouts in whatever the given space is.
That's a good idea! It would be nice to have an HO layout with broader curves.
One thing I think would be cool for the new ho layout is to have a couple of run around sidings at different spots in the loop
Then you can run in a circle if you want to or you can do the operations that you see at strasburg and other tourist lines
@@VintageRenewed I'm still in the early stages of designing the new layout, but it will definitely have at least one runaround. Not sure if I'll have room for two, but I'll see what I can fit in.
This is all very exciting Michael. You will also be much closer to Terry. Perhaps we will see a return of the dinamic duo at some point👍
Very possibly! We'll only be about a 6 hour drive apart. Would love to do a reunion video, especially once I get my garden railroad up and running.
Sounds great👍
you should move to highland falls new york
its great there!
you get to live near the NYC waterlevel route
I'll be less than 3 hours away from it!
@@michaelramsey81 yay
Is your Westport & Shelter Cove Railroad going with you, or are you going to build a new HO scale layout
It's going with me.
Wait... if you weren't in the US, where were you before this move? I'm guessing somewhere in 🇨🇦
I've been living in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada for the past seven years. I'm originally from northern California.
Let me give you a preemptive welcome to the O scale hobby, and a warning: Your wallet will be begging for mercy before long.
No matter how much I try to deny it, I'm an O scale guy through and through. If I wasn't, I would've spent the last decade looking for something other than a 1937 original Lionel 700E.
This side of the hobby is a fun one with a *very* wide range of possibilities. So much more to explore, so many obscure bits of information to find out.
A 700E would be a dream! Such an iconic model. I'd love to find one too, even if it was the cheaper 1990s version.
@@michaelramsey81 I know right? I've been after one for so long that people think I'm crazy. A 700E was the first model train I ever got to see running, and the owner was even kind enough to let me run it. I've wanted one ever since.
Please stay in Canada
I'd love to, but it's just not financially feasible for me, for a number of reasons.
