When my wife & I were in the UK in 2018 on holiday from Australia, we had the best Sunday roast at Toby's Carvery in Middlesbrough. Roast beef, Yorkshire's, all the roast veg you could want, lashings of delicious gravy. The best I've had anywhere ! And it was packed inside & as soon as a table was free, it was taken by new hungry folk. Can't say any better than that .
Not sure if you're aware but Toby Carvery is actually a big restaurant chain over here in the UK but I agree they are pretty damn good and reasonably priced too.
So good to see Danny really enjoying his food. That's alot if meat on one plate. Looks amazing! For me I would want more veg on my plate. I have to gave parsnips and sprouts on my roast dinner, cauliflower or broccoli but the food certainly looks fab. Great review!

I wouldn't have left that shop without finding out what puddings they do to compliment that roast. Apple Crumble I hope & bet. These nights are slowly drawing in & when I heard the word Turkey my ear flapped, just a bit. I'm a big fan of roast Turkey & by now our Christmas dinners must be right on the way now for hatching. I'm with you on the fat on a roast, Danny. I was at a carvery in Wales a couple of years ago and asked the chef to give me bits with some fat on. He gave me extra portions because he said he was fed up of people asking for a roast without it.

Hello Danny. The Sunday roast dinner was no stranger in my house growing up in America. My mother was an excellent cook. The only thing missing from our table was Yorkshire pudding. Instead, she would she would make toast in an electric toaster to sop up the gravy. Sometimes it would be rolls bought from the store and re-heated. Roast beef, fried chicken, pork chops, ham (gammon) and lamb for Easter. If it was a beef roast, the potatoes would be quartered and finished in the cast iron pot with the roast. If not, it was either baked or mashed potatoes. Home made gravy was always present. If you have a chance to have gravy made with the browed bits of fried chicken, don't miss the opportunity! Love your program! (I saw that "Yorkshire Pasty" on the sign. Gonna look that up.)

Problem with food like this is it's sat there under heat lamps being kept warm. I'm guessing Danny went here early. Not so bad if it's busy and new stuff keeps being cooked.

My mum, dad and me are from Yorkshire, my sisters were born down south. We had a roast dinner with all the bits and mum always did a first course of Yorkshire pudding with onion gravy, then on to the roast dinner. Pure bliss, I miss it so much.
Got a colonoscopy in a few hours, haven't eaten for the last 30 hours or so and feeling like absolute shite, so i'm enjoying a few meals vicariously through Danny :D

Surely a proper UK chippy with peas, fish, proper chips would clean up in Oz with the amount of Brits and Irish. Melbourne aside, there was nothing resembling a chippy in Perth when I was there

I found it really strange how the average American only eats 1lb of Lamb per year. For a nation of meat eaters that love their beef they really don't know what they are missing out on.

I can't abide the way that people denigrate English cooking, and the Sunday roast dinner is the primary reason why. So wholesome, so comforting, I can't imagine why people turn their noses.

It doesn't sound fancy or exotic coming out of the mouth of a food TV personality. Just take some good stuff that goes well together, cook it right, let the ingredients speak for themselves as best you can. Roast dinner is all of these things to me; no nonsense, no frills, just a good cut of meat and some stick-to-your-ribs sides, gravy from the drippings, simple and honest. I'm a yank in New York City. We get to try a lot of great food from all over the world. A nice Sunday roast is a truly special thing.

Fantastic Danny 😊 I cook a fantastic roaster. Always cooked in Goose Fat or Beef Dripping, Seasoned with Salt, Pepper and Rosemary. Always par Boil for 5 to 10 mins for best results, depending on the spud. For best results, use Vivaldi or Maris Piper. Sounds like this guy uses the same method. Will have to visit when up that way. I'm a vegetarian and have been for 28 years. My Sunday dinner consists of; a Linda McCartney Cottage Pie, broccoli, carrot, asparagus, peas and sweetcorn, mash, roast potatoes, stuffing, yorkshire puddings and gravy with mint sauce. Proper bangin!! 👌😎

Danny your right up my street pal! My favourite meats in no order… Lamb, Beef, Pork… chicken you can have anytime and sometimes I find Turkey dry unless you get a good un.

Fantastic Danny 😊 I cook a fantastic roaster. Always cooked in Goose Fat or Beef Dripping, Seasoned with Salt, Pepper and Rosemary. Always par Boil for 5 to 10 mins for best results, depending on the spud. For best results, use Vivaldi or Maris Piper. Sounds like this guy uses the same method. Will have to visit when up that way. Keep up the great work Pal 👍

@@stevenc5227 just rewatched..deffo asked for a lamb dinner and a mixed meat..just checked prices and a lamb dinner is £7.50..extra meat is £3 and water £1.50 so still a mystery :)

Ill never get tired of eating Good roast dinner with Yorkshire puddings and lots gravy. Food of the gods and when done right there's nothing on planet earth that beats it. Love beef lamb chicken and gravy done well.

Danny get some pork and sage stuffing I know they sell it in the Asda but it is just phenomenal on a Sunday dinner Iv never had the normal crumbly one since! My partner tried it for the first time at Christmas and he was just blown away! Honestly it’s incredible!

I'm a vegetarian and have been for 28 years. My Sunday dinner consists of; a Linda McCartney Cottage Pie, broccoli, carrot, asparagus, peas and sweetcorn, mash, roast potatoes, stuffing, yorkshire puddings and gravy with mint sauce. Proper bangin!! 👌😎

I know what you mean Danny, my Grandma made the best roasties ever. Like clouds in the middle but crispy on the outside. I've never been able to replicate it and wish I'd have asked her secret.
