In Switzerland it seems to me story repeted itself as a farce. Prof. Mearsheimer might be partly right. We can't totally count out the possibility, that Russia would use a small amount of nuclear weapons for a demonstrative purpose. It is highly unlikely, that the West would immediately respond with nuclear weapons. The respond would almost certainly be a very strong conventional stike against all Russian military installations. But Russia would continue using nuclear weapons, then also the U.S. and other Western nuclear countries will respond using nuclear weapons. The West will certainly not start a nuclear war, but it can't be blackmailed with those weapons. This all talk about nuclear weapons is just the Russian attemp to get the West to abandon Ukraine. In Mearsheimer's case Russia has succeeded: Mearsheimer is proposing, that the U.S. would abadon Ukraine. But his would be just another Neville Chamberlain case, because appeasing Putin will certainly not be a winning strategy. Glory to Ukraine ! Glory to the heroes !

And what is happening today after the West said not an inch of NATO to the East 30 years ago? Was the 2004 enlargement somehow provoked by Russia? Was the 2008 invitation of Ukraine to join NATO a necessity? There are less than 150 million people living in Russia compared to 950 million in NATO countries. Number of planes, ships and other weaponry is also dispropotionate. Sbignev Bzhezinzky in his book openly discussed in 1997 that Russia should be squized out of the Black Sea and then disjointed into pieces. Putin has been talking and warning about that at least since 2007. Do you really think given all that Russia should have been peacefully resting and doing nothing?

So the accidental destruction of the strategic nuclear forces' early warning RADAR systems leads to one side in the conflict being blind and the side that was blinded is at risk of launching their strategic nuclear weapons because they are not sure if they are subject to a nuclear attack or not because they can't tell what's going on anymore after the early warning RADAR systems of the strategic nuclear forces were desteoyed.

Coming home to study which included listening to the class at 1.5-2x made it much more tolerable, even if it meant re-listening.
Prof M @1x speed is...n't a natural flow. It's maddening. Speed it up to 1.5x? It 'feels normal'. Speed it up to 2x and it's actually listenable.
Problem with interacting with my professors once in class is that I'd gotten used to listening to them @1.5-2x and interacted with them in my head there. In person it didn't move as quickly and subsequently the exchanges would go differently than planned. Explain to them the 1.5-2x meant outing myself as recording them but when I'd leave them a copy of the tape re-recorded at 1.5x with the b-side @2x and suggest they relisten to their lectures .. ..where they didn't freak out over being secretly recorded or got over that aspect.. they'd say that it'd totally change the lesson. Especially with my suggested tweaks & inclusions.
Pride aside, they'd usually adjust but only after failing me and only during future classes they wouldn't approve my reattempts to take.. despite their cost not really being the issue.

Their involvement is what started this war. They didn't become involved. They spawned it. I love how everyone forgets how the CIA (who has admitted involvement) spawned the 2014 coup that sparked Russia's involvement (Crimea, then this). The USA played it's usual games of meddling in foreign affairs on the borders of other nuclear powers, and it backfired on them (or did it, and they wanted this?). If this was reversed, and the conflict was on America's border, there would be no debate about war because they wouldn't tolerate foreign interference so closely to them.
I don't back Russia's policies, but I understand their choice of actions at least through their own perspective. Sun Tzu: "Know the enemy and know yourself in a hundred battles you will never be in peril. When you are ignorant of the enemy but know yourself, your chances of winning or losing are equal. If ignorant both of your enemy and of yourself, you are certain in every battle to be in peril."
