@cybergshulz4328 I considered all of that, and my conclusion didn't change. Kyiv is older than Moscow. So what?
He has such a big smile on his face as he describes the difficult situation that Ukraine is in. Why is he smiling about that?
Because we live in a world where propaganda helps to win wars and Russia is extremely skilled at mass mis and disinformation. Many of these people are pro Russia and aligned with Russia in some way. I intend to build a system soon that will provide a background on a person with one click and show the political or financial link between them and Russia. To be fair, it's not just Russia doing this, it's everyone who wants to be in power. The US does the same thing.
I call em 'smilers'. I've noticed it for years. A person will be talking about something serious and incongruous with smiling.at a certain stage you feel like chancing a smile back to reciprocate, only to to see the ' smiler' instantly drop his smile, look momentarily furious as if to say' do you think this funny!?'. Weirdos
Becouse he get exited dying old in full war
This war has brought Dr. Mearsheimer a great deal of attention due to his contrarian views on Russia and international politics in general. And clearly he's enjoying the whole situation, even though thousands of people are dying & many people kinda hate him now.

I am wondering what’s going to happen with this clown world we live in. Honestly, I am pretty much pessimistic.
It looks pretty bleak to me too. I see a lot of death in the future of the world. We are all positioning for it. I think that is the purpose, and I think that it is reasoning that is being justified and validated.
He always says that Putin had no intention to take all of Ukraine. He never mentions that Putin initially invaded from Russia in the South AND from Belarus in the North. They sent a 40 mile convoy of soldiers, artillery, tanks etc. to take Kyiv and it broke down and the attack was abandoned
Even with conventional weapons Putin could turn Kiev to dust. Russian hackers could shut down the entire power grid bringing Ukrainian society to the dark ages. But he hasn't. That's weird
Bismarck, the iron chancellor and not the ship, said, "Preemptive war is like committing suicide for fear of death."
And he was only so wise after basically doing that himself with the Franco-Prussian war.
I think it was also him saying "I know more than 100 ways to make the russian bear come out of its cave but I know none to put it back in"

I never saw a "peace" conference resembling more a war council than the Switzerland's peace conference. They didn't want to do Versailles, they wanted to do Yalta.
@@arthurkjr Indeed, maybe Westphalia had fitted better
In what world was Yalta a war council? Was there another war against germany after WW2 in your alternate reality?
@@user-gb5wb9vy2w Yalta was a summit were the allies agreed to fight until the unconditional surrender of the axis powers and what peace was too look like after the war. Essentially it was a war council during the war were it was understood that no separate peace agreements were to be taken and, that the axis would be totally defeated and subjugated. In Switzerland it seems to me story repeted itself as a farce. Notably Biden was absent (I mean, in person...) and the reach of that meeting was much less far reaching than that of Yalta but the idea behind it seems to me to be similar. Otherwise there had be no reason to hold "peace talks" without all parties involved.

What is it about Article 5 that you all don't understand? Poland or any NATO nation cannot invoke Article 5 if they go on the offensive. If Poland moved Troops into Ukraine that is not Article 5. The US would not be drawn in. The Us would be drawn in if Russia and her allies attacked US assets in NATO or anywhere in the world;
Wrong! The US will never honour Article 5 against Russia, or at most they will fumble it, offer weapons, support, diplomatic cover but against Russia or any nuclear power you can forget it. If you think the US will put Washington up for destruction instead of London, or better still Warsawthen you wouu you I’d be deluding yourself. It was always a con!

If the Ukrainians take out any of Russia’s nuclear monitoring systems.
Mearsheimer talked about that and how he thought the US had told them not to do this in no uncertain terms.
Click bait with very little knowledge of the true possibilities.
I worked in Russia in 2003 for the Russian newspaper 'Sobesednik'. Our sister newspaper was the Ukrainian newspaper 'Sobytie'. We were all friends. I met Gorbachev. I like what Mearsheimer says about Putin's IQ. Brilliant.

Prof. Mearsheimer might be partly right. We can't totally count out the possibility, that Russia would use a small amount of nuclear weapons for a demonstrative purpose. It is highly unlikely, that the West would immediately respond with nuclear weapons. The respond would almost certainly be a very strong conventional stike against all Russian military installations. But Russia would continue using nuclear weapons, then also the U.S. and other Western nuclear countries will respond using nuclear weapons. The West will certainly not start a nuclear war, but it can't be blackmailed with those weapons. This all talk about nuclear weapons is just the Russian attemp to get the West to abandon Ukraine. In Mearsheimer's case Russia has succeeded: Mearsheimer is proposing, that the U.S. would abadon Ukraine. But his would be just another Neville Chamberlain case, because appeasing Putin will certainly not be a winning strategy. Glory to Ukraine ! Glory to the heroes !
Mearsheimer has become the most terrifying harbinger of nuclear war because he speaks in realist terms
More like wrong terms. The dude is never right about anything. Anyone can make videos about coulda woulda shoulda, it's being right at least occasionally that gives you credibility. They all happen to suspiciously encourage capitulating to Moscow's interests at the same time. HMMMM....
Mearsheimer's best prediction is his idea of NATO & Russia exiting this entire mess in a FROZEN WAR. The US will never concede its illusional position of power, therefore, a stalemate will eventually be reached.
Mearsheimer speaks in Russian terms.
Realism is about rational actors, spheres of influence, not exporting your ridiculous ideologies, so yeah, some people might disagree but, well, they'd be wrong. He hasn't been wrong at all.
@@X4Adventures when's he been wrong?
Mearsheimer doing Putin’s bidding again.
But he is clever to mention that loss of Ukrainians without chances to win is a tragedy. I know the west wants the Ukrainians to fight until no one left, but who knows whether communism will come back because of such tragedy.
This is what Google's internet search tools told me about this video :
Ukraine's Army counted approximately 2.2 million military personnel as of 2024. Of them, 900,000 were active military staff. Furthermore, 1.2 million soldiers were part of the country's reserve forces.
But in this video did Professor Meerschaum really say that Ukraine, a country with a population of 38 million people only has 200,000 soldiers in their Army when fully mobilized?

@@francesco5581 These comparisons of size of economies are too much based on the currency used and the exchange rates are usually very biased to the dollar. Meaning that Italy's economy could be half of Russia's economy but the Euro is, like the dollar, super-valued and it would look like these two economies are of the same size.
As to military power: Did you compared the number of men? Do Spain have more than a million men on its military? Very unlikely, sorry. Does Spain produces its own weapons in large quantities?

Does anyone remember what happened when Hitler said he only wanted the half of Czechoslovakia that had a German population then when the allies agreed, Hitler took all of Czechoslovakia. Russia said he wasn't going to invade Ukraine, then Russia did. George Santa Y Anna said "those of us who fail to remember history are doomed to repeat it"
And what is happening today after the West said not an inch of NATO to the East 30 years ago? Was the 2004 enlargement somehow provoked by Russia? Was the 2008 invitation of Ukraine to join NATO a necessity? There are less than 150 million people living in Russia compared to 950 million in NATO countries. Number of planes, ships and other weaponry is also dispropotionate. Sbignev Bzhezinzky in his book openly discussed in 1997 that Russia should be squized out of the Black Sea and then disjointed into pieces. In case anyone thought that this video was "click bait" and wanted to skip ahead to the nuclear war part: approximately 16 minutes of the way into the video is the beginning of the part where Professor Mearsheimer says that a strategic nuclear escalation might happen if the early warning RADAR systems that belong to the strategic nuclear forces are accidentally destroyed by normal conventional forces in a normal conventional non-nuclear war. So the accidental destruction of the strategic nuclear forces' early warning RADAR systems leads to one side in the conflict being blind and the side that was blinded is at risk of launching their strategic nuclear weapons because they are not sure if they are subject to a nuclear attack or not because they can't tell what's going on anymore after the early warning RADAR systems of the strategic nuclear forces were desteoyed.

He says Putin didn't want to take all of Ukraine . But they attacked Kiev first. Also, in 1991, the United States and Russia promised Ukraine protection if they gave up their nuclear weapons.
A peaceful Eurasia from the Atlantic to Vladivostok was Gorbachev's dream. We should not forget that he was Russian and essentially paved the way for this dream to come true. Now, we have a war in Europe. It is very sad. Whose fault is it? Only the Russian's fault ?

I think part of the "Putin is loosing the war" Narrative stems from the fact that the West Historically has always underestimated the Russian States ability to absorb casualties. Magnified at this time by how gun-shy we have become about taking losses ourselves. Imagine the outcry if the US took the 150K casualties we inflicted on the Iraqis in our last war.

Indeed; as the man himself said - "Lastly, the self-centredness and arrogance of Western countries have led us to a highly perilous situation today. We are inching dangerously close to a point of no return. Calls for a strategic defeat of Russia, which possesses the largest arsenals of nuclear weapons, demonstrate the extreme recklessness of Western politicians. They either fail to comprehend the magnitude of the threat they are creating or are simply consumed by their notion of invincibility and exceptionalism. Both scenarios can result in tragedy". (V. Putin 14/06/2024)
Ludicrous. This war started because Putin wanted to restore the Russian empire. It has nothing to do with Nato expansion. Putin even wanted Russia to become a Nato member back in early 2000s, ffs. Mearsheimer is totally clueless regarding this conflict.
Bro! I read first without reading the author and thought it was John Mearsheimer´s words!!! Putin is indeed, as John puts it, a first class strategist.
No one is calling for the strategic defeat of Russia .. that's just Russian fear mongering and propaganda. The only thing facing Russia is its potential expulsion from some or all of the territory it has occupied in Ukraine. That is not a strategic defeat threatening the existence of the Russian State.
Sure Russian bot. Having a nato ally on your border doesn’t mean Russia can invade a country. Any country that borders Russia is free to join any alliance they desire. Russia started the “3 day war” lol and now they’re scared shitless.
John Mearsheimer clearly swallows everything Putin says at face value and therefore appeases him and plays into his hands. Let’s be clear - Putin is a brutal dictator who controls his own country by disinformation and repression. His main military allies are the most brutal and objectionable of regimes ie those in North Korea, Iran and Syria.
At first when I saw the video title, I had this strong reaction: “there is NEVER an excuse for preemptive strikes.”
But then Mearsheimer explained that Putin would not know if he was striking first or second, if we destroyed his early warning system.
The early warning systems are the same as their defense systems. You noticed they also destroyed Ukraine Defense systems so why should Ukraine 🇺🇦 not destroy theirs. If this keeps up all the smaller nations might as well develop nuclear weapons secretly to protect themselves and everyone will be at an even increased risk.
@@clintinb5219Because you wanted to be the *_Israel_* of Europe. You don't want to end like the Fr*nch _in a particular island._
I didn’t know “early warning system” and “defense system” were the same thing. But I can still tell you why Ukraine “should not destroy theirs”. It is because that is TIT-FOR-TAT logic, based on the idea that if someone hits you, you get to them EVEN HARDER.
If Putin bombs LA, American’s second city, where a friend of mine lives, Mr Tit-for-Tat will say “why shouldn’t we bomb St Petersburg?”
Well, as upset as I would be if Putin bombed the home of my childhood friend, it would be worse if Biden bombed the city where many of my old friends from work live.
Russia like the US has multiple means of detecting a strategic nuclear launch including space based systems. A few old OTH radars, many of which have been decommissioned, are not going to seriously diminish Early Warning Capacity.
I think we could refer to the 10 Brigades being formed by Ukraine as cannon fodder
The US wants to drag this thing out for as long as possible
Windfall profits for American defense companies
Near the end of WW 2, few weeks before atomic bombs were dropped in Hiroshima & Nagasaki, Japan prime minister, Suzuki and the military leadership General Tojo misread at the US peace offering which was seen as sign of weakness.

Russia gave up its control over east germany, poland, baltic states, afghanistan, and ultimately ukraine too. West can easily, let me repeat EASILY, give up ukraine to form a buffer zone, without even losing face. Its idiotic to win a match 10-1 and gamble all of it to get a mere 1 point more.
Can they give up Africa also?
But they want war and depopulation. Look up deagel.
@@___spiritofadventure___ It doesn't matter what they want. They took control of too many aspects of society and reduced us to a communist economy. And we dont actually have the executive control to maintain that for very long. So, collapse, before they ever planned or wanted it.

It appears as if PUTIN has lit a fuse that'll smolder and smolder until someone loses patience & uses a tactical NUKE
If Ukraine has mined it's borders with NATO to prevent leaving thus avoiding death by conscription. The populace knows the war should stop.
The big threat here is that this war is not just about Ukraine. For the US/west it's really about achieving global unipolar western control rather than allow a truly multipolar global structure to evolve. I fear that the US is perfectly willing to see at least Europe, and perhaps other regions, devastated before it gives up on this ambition. China knows full well that if Russia falls, it will be next in the US cross-hairs so will, if essential, fully and openly back Russia.
Professors stop fear mongering
So live in ignorance, without any form of communication and debate? Trying to understand both sides, and gather as much information as possible is the ONLY way to reach peace.
😮 John’s skill in shaping the narrative would make even the German propaganda minister Goebbels envious.
Truth & logic are not easily understood or accepted by Yankee war hawks.
He is so right about the time it takes to train a soldier sufficiently, at the VERY LEAST 9-10 months, more if you’re going to train personnel for armored vehicle service etc.
Does he know that the son of one of the Russian generals literally lives in Boston (he is my relative and a Putin supporter)? And the children of everyone in the Kremlin all live in London, etc.?
United States should have never gotten involved.
Their involvement is what started this war. They didn't become involved. They spawned it. I love how everyone forgets how the CIA (who has admitted involvement) spawned the 2014 coup that sparked Russia's involvement (Crimea, then this). The USA played it's usual games of meddling in foreign affairs on the borders of other nuclear powers, and it backfired on them (or did it, and they wanted this?). If this was reversed, and the conflict was on America's border, there would be no debate about war because they wouldn't tolerate foreign interference so closely to them.
I don't back Russia's policies, but I understand their choice of actions at least through their own perspective. Sun Tzu: "Know the enemy and know yourself in a hundred battles you will never be in peril. When you are ignorant of the enemy but know yourself, your chances of winning or losing are equal. If ignorant both of your enemy and of yourself, you are certain in every battle to be in peril."
Wouldn't have but then there was a massive aerial attack Dec. 7th 1941 and them laid back lazy playboy Americans turned on the military industrial might on and haven't turn it off since...

Mearsheimer is getting really desperate now after backing the wrong horse
I can't believe he says the russians are doing well. How are they doing well? Theyve got 10 percent of the country by land and far less by population. they can't make any further gains and they've been thoroughly exhausted. The USSR was far more powerful than Russia and It left Afghanistan with a bloody nose. And John over here is telling us that russian victory is inevitable, so the Ukrainians should just bend over. Insane...
He is like a man on Putins payroll . Even if Ukraine lost Russia trying to hold it would break them
Cause & effect: Why must we bear the consequences of political leaders who have created many enemies who no longer support the petrodollar, American currency, and our funding of wars rather than workable negotiations to solve problems? BRICS is including more and more members every month.
