- Hope the focus is OK, it's an older camera. If anyone can chime in with the location of the idle stop solenoid, as well as the purpose of the melted mystery connector, I'd appreciate it. Please let me know if you want further details on any of the harness wire colors or details on any of the other harnesses.
EDIT: I'm told the dark blue wire I was calling 'idle stop' really goes from the ESC to the knock sensor, so that's one mystery solved!
I’ve been looking for a video explaining all the connectors since I have a bunch of them just hanging so huge thank you! Wondering though if I can just completely snip off most of these wires and connectors if I am exempt from emissions? If not which connectors should I keep? I should add I’m going with an edlebrock carb soon. TIA

Need a little help with wiring for alternator there's a red wire by the " T " labeled 4 and there 2 wires that plugs into the alternator that have been cut any help where they lead to to reconnect
The idle stop solonoid is right near the throttle on the carb. Its job is to literally work with the throttle lever on the carb. Looks like it was removed tho.
iDidnt see it, but is there a red power wire from the passenger side that connects to one of the red 12v wires from the driver side bulkhead? Is that for the blower mower?

What’s the real name of that black metal box u names spark control module...........my harness is melted and been looking for name of it
Have a picture of it? Might be officially called distributor control module, I can tell you for sure if you have a photo.
It’s at 0:56.....I found it it’s called an electronic spark control module u were right it’s under metal box but my harness is melted has 5 pins and 5 wires as I see replacement parts are only 4 wires ......why is that

Do I need this harness or the computer if I swapped the motor to a 350 and have aftermarket HEI distributor and Holley carb? Can I remove the computer and harness completely? What would I need
You could remove it but please don't throw it out, they are getting hard to find.

There is a plastic cover over a compartment in the passenger footwell that holds the computer.

yea and you use your own ignition and carburetor
It can, but your car will run like crap. The E4ME is an amazing carb.
What brand of haters are you using?
elmeromero chitown sorry, not sure, they came with the car, they hang kinda low anyway, wouldn't recommend them.
Just rip out the computer and harness. Go with regular HEI dis and Earlier Q-Jet carb with the electric choke. Everything that runs the motor is in the motor harness. The only thing you will need is a lockup kit for the torque converter. And that is no big deal. And while you are at it rip out that emission system. Cut off the pollution tubes and replace with pipe plugs.
The engine runs better with the computer, and there's much more performance to be wrung out of the poor 305 when you can tune it.
I guess it is if you are trying to keep it original or not. I get it. But....much less to go wrong without computer . And much cleaner look. Just my 2cents.

hmm i thought wiring is usually installed from the lower part of the body and work your way upwards..lol i hate to have this guy do my car NO WAY...glad im building my own car the way it should be...old school style
