Would you say it's worth doing computer science as a degree? (Is it really stressful like you have no free time etc?)

@@HiHi-zv7zooh absolutely, it’s just math, math, math and even more fucking math.
Then you learn a couple of programming languages and computer structure general knowledge stuff.
And then it’s back to fucking math disguised as programming.
Then boom, graduate but nobody wants to hire you without 5 years of experience, because the market is over saturated with people who got into comp sci After watching a TikTok about how amazing it is.

I graduated back in 2020 during the pandemic. I was unemployed for 6 months due to all the chaos but eventually got a job during the hiring craze. First year salary 65k.m which was low but it was fully remote and I needed the experience so whatever. 2nd year, I asked for a raise and got 80k.
Third year, the the tech sector was doing lay offs and my employer took advantage and denied me a raise. I got pissed and looked for new job and just three weeks later, i landed one(crazy how quickly that was). Found a new position in a startup with 130k base salary plus 10k in relocation bonus, plus equities and here I am. 3 years of experience, as software engineer, making 140k total comp at age 27(I started college late).
So I guess my degree paid for itself, considering I graduated without any debt.
Many people say this field is oversaturated, everyone and their grandmother want to do tech from watching tiktok Yada Yada. But realize that everyone and their grandmother also want to be movie super star or next Michael Jackson rock star musician. You ever see the actual rock stars ever having trouble finding jobs or get low salary?
Smae logic applies here. Unqualified and medicore wannabes are many, good engineers on the other hand are in very short supply and these people can charge expensive salary for their service and labor. Companies hire recuiters just to filter out seas of unqualified applicants so they can interview actual qualified candidates which are very rare.

@@IamAWESOME3980 Oh thanks for covering the bit about it being saturated because that was one of my worries about taking computer science, but it makes sense about what you said about how they filter out seas of people looking for the qualified ones, I didn't think about that.
