I wrap my cucumbers in paper towels before I put them in the refrigerator. It absorbs moisture and they don't rot or go mushy as fast.

Slice the avocado first and freeze the slices so they dont stick together. You can take out as many slices as you need then. They stay nice and green :)

GAME CHANGER for me to store fruit...Berries last for weeks if you just take them out of the plastic and store them in a glass jar. Who would think. Do not wash first.

To keep from throwing out fresh basil, I will rough chop my basil and put it in olive oil and store it in the freezer until I’m ready to use it.

I wrap foil around celery. It lasts a long time! And I put unwashed strawberries in a glass mason jar. They will keep twice as long!

Do you put a lid on the mason jar full of unwashed strawberries? Can you also do this with blueberries and raspberries?

Hi, I have been using mason jars for my strawberries, blueberris, and grapes for over a year. They will last a very long time. I wash my fruit, lay them on a towel, let them air dry, put them in the jar, and yes, put the lid on the jar, great success, and I hope this helps, have a great day!

Yes, I wrap my celery in foil too. Really works and when it gets a little soft I use it in something like soup.

@@DrLivingood thank you for the encouragement! My issue is I have half a thyroid. I suffer with anxiety and depression daily! I’m on medications of course to help with all that and it makes it difficult to change when it has been overwhelming with it all. I’d love to just wake up and it all would go away! I’m struggling

Hi guys love your site When I buy lettuce I wash it and soak it in vinegar water then let it dry out on a rack for awhile then take the loose leaves and spread them out and roll in a cotton dish towel and shake to get more water out. Last I put paper towels at the bottom of a bag put the lettuce inside and put a couple of paper towels on top. Fold the bag loosely let some of the air out and store in frig. Last better than a week. For Veggies I do what you do but when I put then into a container or bag I put paper towels on the bottom and the top and put it frig, I turn the bag/container over everyday to let the moisture absorb in the towels, and change my towels when they are damp. I save these towels and use again for same process for my next veggies. Vinegar is great and soaking blueberries/strawberries keeps them from molding so fast.

Now I can preserve for the week and keep things fresh, although we also have chickens so nothing goes to waste! 😊

Florida Avocados are 1½ times the size of a soft ball and they have about 5 times the amount of avocado mater, very good and they are green with a smoother finish not blackish with a bumpy surface, they make a larger yield.

Speaking of cheese...what's the best way to store it? I've tried leaving it in the package it comes in, wrapping it in Alum foil, wrapping it in wax paper, putting it in a zip lock with no air; all these still allow mold. Short of sealing it up with a food saver, is there any other way to keep it longer?
