Nice video, but I think you should separate the bosses for each FF series. Each of them has different damage cap, for example FF IX damage cap is only 9999/hit therefore of course the bosses has small number of HP compare to other series. Otherwise this is not fair comparison

I wanted to compare all bosses over time to see the general inflation of boss HP throughout the FF series. Since IX went back to 16 bit numbers the hp values were low. The back section alone had 60,000 HP; the other sections had 55,000/55,000/50,000. You would have to add all four up for his total HP, which would come out to 220,000 HP.

You can actually get the hp numbers for FF14 though. It just requires that you use something that isn't exactly supported by the developers. Otherwise you can just look up an fflogs parse for a fight to see the health number of the enemy. The latest savage boss Shiva has around about 72million health and newer bosses will only go up since the better gear people get the more health bosses need in order to last the same duration.

I noticed no one mentioning this but, if we want to be accurate, in the SFC & SNES versions of Final Fantasy IV Zeromus, thanks to a HP refill script triggered after losing 46,000 or more HP, actually has 110,000 HP. The only way to get around this script is to use reflected magic, because the script is triggered, like most of Zeromus' actions, as a counterattack action to whatever you do, but the way FFIV was coded back then didn't exactly have an answer for what happens if you just bounce spells off yourself to hit something, because as far as the programming was concerned it treated reflected spells about the same as though Zeromus had cast them on himself, thus counterattack scripts never triggered, and thus no counter-Nukes/Viruses/Weaks, and more importantly no HP refill, therefore you effectively only had to deal with half the intended HP _(This also works with any other bosses with counter scripts too, like Asura, Rubicante, Pale Dim, and Ogopogo, and the Elemental Archfiends fights, since they also have an HP refill script as well to simulate their intended 100,000 HP, and it also allows you force the fight to stay in the Scarlimiglone [Milon Z] phase the whole time, because, surprise, the swapping to the next fiend is, you guessed it, a counterattack script)._ Of course, if you wanted to nerf his Big Bangs, you still had to throw a spell, attack item, or the Crystal at him again at just the right time to force his magic power to crater in response when he did a counter-Nuke, otherwise, as the programmers realized, a counter-Nuke just before a Big Bang would pretty much be guaranteed quad-9's due to the magic power ramp-up he does in the lead up to a Big Bang _(symbolized by the shakes)._
Now, the DS version of Zeromus was straight up 110,000 without such a script needed, so you had to fight the whole shebang, plus I believe the programmers figured out all the Reflect cheese of the SFC/SNES version, so that doesn't work so well in the DS version either.

@@randumo24 Title of the video _is_ *"Final Fantasy Strongest Bosses Over Time (FFI - FFXV)",* though.
However, the video description does however mention of the exclusion of these types of games. It's a shame, but at the same time, all things considered, these games are "still going", with new challenges and bosses being included, so making a list for them now, would be obnoxious, as the information will be outdated shortly after.

I don't play 14 so I can't say anything about that, but if you wanna include the two MMOs, FFXI's highest HP NM at the moment is Mireu at between 7 and 8 million HP.
The Dynamis [D] wave 3 bosses have 2 million HP each.

I imagine if XI and XIV were added, the top tiers would just be littered with Absolute Virtue, Pandemonium Warden (and their level 119 successors), and every 24-man, Baldesion's Arsenal, (Savage), and (Ultimate) boss fight.
Would be kinda underwhelming, tbh. XI and XIV could do with their own video just for them in this style.

    • @bu773rkim

I wouldn't say they were treated as 2nd class, most of the time they were left out because they're MMORPG and the power level in MMO are vastly different from single-player game. They are, still one of the best FF title in recent memories and I don't think anyone would want to argue with that.

So there is a little Wrong here in this Video. Zemus and Zerumus are to separate bosses. BUT the Zerumus fright may only have 65HP BUT there is a Refill Script that happens if a Direct attack hits him at around 20k HP left. So really the fight has 121k health. Same with the Archfiends fight. First half is 65k hp and once you burn through that you have have to burn though another 65k health So arch field for FFIV should be 130k HP. Its because the SNES had a Limit to the Max HP.
