Honestly when you disregard the "haha funni cookiez" part this game becomes a pretty good metaphor for how capitalism has warped our society into something that thrives off of pieces of paper that would normally be worthless. Except instead of paper it's cookies.
When I stop playing other games for a while I usually say, "I got distracted", "I've been slacking", "Oops, I should get back to that".
When I stop playing Cookie Clicker for a while I say, "I escaped".

It's the web game that you think is for 30 minutes of clicking, but once you play for a little bit longer you discover how fricking complex this game is. I mean even Clicker Heroes isn't that complicated and extensive.
And to think: The ascension system alone took the devs of cookie clicker a few YEARS to make it as good as it was, of which it came out at about march of 2016.

I can't be the only one who remembers the "paperclip generator" game from a couple years back, right? I mean, before THIS video showed its very obvious parallels to coronavirus response, that was the first thing I thought of. It was a game I heard about on some message board a couple years back and it seems completely identical to this one. You clicked on your mouse repeatedly to produce paperclips, which you could do at an exponential rate the more you did it, and it also got into some really bizarre, reality-warping lore. I myself never wound up playing it for more than a couple days worth of time, but it was pretty much the exact same setup as this. In fact now I think about it, I suppose it's likely there were other version after the paperclip one and before this cookie one.

I never knew how intense it could actually be;
We found a hack to get unlimited cookies, but we never got _that_ far!
I remember using it, it was op as Heck and I completed it at a speed like 40 rebirths/ascensions per hour. It was funny because not a single other person knew so everyone was so confused on how I got so many cookies

Greed is the cause of much tragedy and suffering, and you may say that is enabled by capitalism, but I disagree. I think the fault can only be laid at the feet of individuals. Capitalism has enabled countless advancements in technology, medicine, and allowed millions (if not billions) of people to be lifted out of poverty. People just need to stop being so damn greedy imo.

My headcanon is that the village is an undercover SCP containment site, designed to keep the goose occupied. There's a continual debate about if the success of containment means they should reduce its class to euclid, but that's a trap. The goose is always keter. Never feel secure.

This needs to be required viewing at every house of worship, played before the beginning of all company board meetings, workdays at the Fed, and days at school. If you're not going to teach reading or math in the remaining 5 hours and 50 minutes, this ten isn't going to to turn the tide but maybe we will have adults who will care about it. As opposed to the (most recent)th congress.

The goal is not to replicate Socialist Romania the goal is to learn from the mistakes of Socialism and adapt, because we know that the goal cannot be capitalism. This is what makes this video one of, if not the best video essay on youtube. The entire video slowly turns from an explanation of cookie clicker, to an explanation of cookie economics, and finally the essay drops possibly the hardest line in video essay history. The metaphor cannot become any more literal, and without hiding behind cookies, the truth reveals itself.
In 2020 alone, during the midst of a pandemic, the largest exchange of wealth (in recorded human history) from the working class to the rich elite happened.

I remember in grade 5 everyone was obsessed with this game to the point where friendships were broken because people had less cookies. It was crazy. I gave up as soon as I got the first "you make me sick-Grandma" because I immediately got deeply unsettled, and slowly realized how messed up some of the headlines were.
