Xenia Xbox360 Emulator on Steam Deck
This is the only possible way to improve the performance currently.

How to apply the fix
download the zip file and extract the zip file then copy it into your xenia content folder to overwrite the current folder.
Blue Dragon: make sure change GPU= d3d12 inside xenia-canary.config.toml file.

Thank you for your tutorial. When I launch the game in the gaming mode, i get a black screen with game sound. but i can launch the game without problems in the desktop mode. can you help me with this?
This is disheartening, video is great but I’m not confident messing with this stuff. Do we think we’ll ever get a Linux version of the emulator? I want to play blue dragon very badly.
Have you tried Emudeck on Steam Deck? Xbox 360 games works for me now problem without having to do all of this.
I'm probably just going to wait until we get some Linux alt or port for 360 stuff, but I really appreciate you making a video explaining all of this!
To get better performance make sure you use the patches folder.
You can disable Motion blur, bloom, DOF and other things.
Yes that helps definitely. I have a dedicated video for patch files.

@@toobiasj 1st gears worked and second as well but 3 i reached final act and game stuck there never finished it but yeah was cool to play it again.

Why do you duplicate the folders for the different games. What is the advantage?
You can apply different gpu settings in this case for different games. Some game will run with vulkan and some will run with d3d12. Emudeck will only sign every game to vulkan but this emulator doesn’t work that way.

Go to emudeck from desktop then manage emulators and click Xenia then unisntall it

Hey man, can you help me out? I want to emulate commodore vic 20 on the steamdeck. Can I use Emudeck for it? Or maybe EmuStation? To which folder should the roms go into? I've tried to put them in the folder *Vic20* and also in *c64* but with no success. Any help will be greatly apreciated. Thanks!

If the game uses multiple game discs (ISO), is it possible to swap discs? For example, "Blue Dragon" is a 3-disc game. Please let me know if there is a way.

Dude please make a video on how to fix gears 2 and 3 I tired downloading the folders from your google link i found save file and tried to overwrite the downloaded folders with the old one i ever deleted the old ones but no way to make it work still black screen

Thanks for the video but I think its hit or miss for some people. Miss for me. I've tried the emudeck Xenia route and didn't work. I Uninstalled Xenia from Emudeck and tried this manual route. Same ending. The game would load with the Microsoft and Epic intro. You can select solo op and start new game and all it will do is load a blank screen with your Ammo counter in the top right. If you fire, you would just see the sparks and hear sound but nothing else. Also copied the fix files and that didn't work either.
I also tried switching Vulkan to D3D12 and got something to show up that time but it crashed. Taking a break now as I can't get GOW 2 or GOW 3 to work. Gears 1 is perfect through emudeck.
Love your video! It helped me get Last Remnant up and running. Yes it has a few bugs here and there but I can ignore those personally. My questions is I set up infinite undiscovery the way you instructed and it runs and is working however the display or screen is super dark. How would I change the settings do the screen is brighter?

In a previous video "Steam Deck: Standalone (Without EmuDeck) Xbox360 Xenia Emulator Setup - Gear of War 2 Fix" you made a change to Target link in the compatibility part of the game. In this video you didn't do that step. Is that still needed? Time stamp in first video is 9:34. In this video it is 7:22. Thanks in advance for your help!

Sorry for late reply. You don’t need to do that if you use EmuDeck Xenia. But if you are not using emudeck then you have to do the compatibility part.
@@ED4T nothing to apologize for! I’m trying stand-alone Xenia. Rumble Roses locks up after the game starts and reboots my deck. Captain America super soldier only shows a pink screen. Same results using Xenia with emudeck. I did the compatibility stuff but using your most recent video where it seems like you were able to streamline the process.

I tried emulating GTA 4 with this and all I have is a black screen on start up when I play in game mode, it only works on desktop mode for some reason. Any help?

I have tried everything buy my Xbox 360 games freezes every time after some seconds of gameplay. I've been trying to play NFS MW 2005 and NFS carbon and I keep having this issue.

I’ve tested NFS MW 2005 as well and have the same issue on both Steam Deck and my Windows 11 PC. Unfortunately I’m not sure if there is really a “fix” for this, and that we may have to just wait for Xenia to get further updates to fix issues
I cant get Wet or Lollipop Chainsaw to run smooth on Xenia. Any ideas on a fix for this?

Do you know why blue dragon constantly crashes? gpu is set to d3d12. Been crashing. Cant even get past the cave area when the lank shark crashes.
It will crash for few times, I got into the game after the 2nd crashes. after that no crash any more make sure you make a save.

It's working but not perfect.
@Redwarrior96 I did everything as shown and had it running but for some reason all cutscenes run perfectly and then the actual gameplay is dimmed and so dark you can barely see it, a mistake on my end somehow?
Wait do you need a hard drive for it or can’t you just download your roms online in desktop mode for steam deck
You can download ISOs in desktop mode. Works just fine.

Does blue dragon run fine on there or does it still crash
It will crash at first launch after you start up the game second time no more crashes any more. Make sure set gpu=d3d12 for this game
@@ED4T damn I’m bad it works now I traded my steam deck in so I could get a rog ally to play this game and it crashes on there all the time might have to buy another steam deck so I can play this
@khallforister7208 you should play it on ally too. Make sure change to d3d12 it will work with ally

Tried War For Cybertron and it seemed to work but with a lot of graphical issues though. The frame rate seemed ok at times.
