Kukonki is certainly one to watch this season for his development. An exciting prospect. What youngster do you think has the best chance of breaking through under Ruben Amorim? 👇
Kukonki has a great physique, he is really competent with the ball, he can even cross a ball well, however, his defensive game is the one that should excel but unfortunately is still shaky. He has difficulties in reading the development of the play, especially when he defends high, and therefore has poor positioning and anticipation skills. He needs to work a lot on his defensive game. On the other hand, there are two academy prospects that I would like to see develop into great senior player: Mantato and Thwaites. Mantato is the first I think will break into the first team, he is very good 1 v 1, fast, direct, good finisher and has also played as a LB for the academy. He is left footed which will appeal to Amorim’s preference to have a left footed RWB. The other one I really like is Jim Thwaites. He was promoted this year to U18s, he is 16 at the moment and he’s like a Scholes regen with a blend of Beckham. He is a great passer of the ball and possesses a good shot from outside the area. He is also a great free kick taker, has already scored 2 goals form free kicks, and is also competent with keeping the ball and developing the game.
Sam is the only United Fan content creator that goes deep with his information and he's the only one who gives us the depth of what is happening inside our football .giving us information about our youth players is such an amazing work Sam. Keep them coming🔥 you're the goat bro🔥🔥🔥
I get it. He's 16 and 6 foot 5. Very impressive physical attributes. Even more impressive when you realise he still has about 2 more years of growing to do. He has a man's physique. But psychologically and mentally, is he already a man like Wayne Rooney was at the same age? Also, is he equipped for the modern game? Is he press resistant? Can he progress the ball out from the back when he's being pressed with either a good forward run or a good pass? I'm excited but let's not rush him in. Let's ease him in.
Well said, sometimes I think our fan base gets excited over literally everything 😂. He’s an exciting prospect but we’ve always had many of those. Time will tell if he’s the real deal but there’s no need to rush or pressure these kids. Some mature faster as you said about Rooney and currently Yamal at Barca, but they are very rare talents.
Normally when you are 6’3+ at 16 you grow more outwards instead of upwards unlike kids who are shorter and have the bone density to grow. Most likely will stay at 6’5 but still a massive player.
Godwill kukonki reminds me of one of my players that my scouts brought me in fc 24 career mode who was 6:7 with 88 pace and 87 strength can play LB AND CB absolute Beast 💯
I think it’s important to remember that despite his physique at his age, he’s still a kid and mentally is also still a kid. That step up is difficult, but I wish him all the luck in the world
Amir Ibragimov is a top midfield prospect IMO. He has great vision moving forward, he's fast but stays on his feet and brushes through challenges well and has a great eye for goal.
Man I hope some of these kids watch some of the deep dives you do into those young boys .... Jokes aside, you must make them feel awesome and proud of themselves. The fact their good work isn't going unnoticed is only going to inspire them. Don't underestimate your work as obviously their talent is supreme, but they are just another utd kid on the books at the mo, they all merge into one and hardly anybody knows them. This will make them feel awesome 😎
I have often in the past built up my hopes of certain Academy players definitely becoming first team regulars only to be disappointed. The current crop seem to have incredible ability and I believe quite a few will make it this time and save the club millions as well as achieving great things for themselves and the club.
Time to promote Montato,Ibragimov,James Scalon,Obi Martin,Biancheri. Let's observe Koukonki more...let's not give him any pressure...surely a prospect. Perhaps a good back-up/rotation squad player.
I think a big part of why he's doing this is to put the senior players on notice, that if you don't perform you can and will be replaced. And I love it, I'm tired of seeing too many youth players end up leaving the club even when fully capable.
Definitely excited about Mentato - seems like the perfect Wingback for the Amorim system! Zachery Baumann is really interesting as he’s a very complete midfielder. Next player to look physically ready is Ruben Curley but I’m not sure if he’s good enough…
I have been watching ad much of the youth teams as I can and one player who has impressed me is James Scanlon the Gilbrater international. He is quick and can score goals from the midfield.

Left footed players are specialist in nature and they do very well what they do. While right footed players are versatile and can adopt different things.
Definitely one to watch. Despite only being 16 he already stands well over 6ft. He's a very comfortable left footed CB who is great on the ball very imposing & can cover large amounts of ground. He's already impressed massively for our under 18's. With Amorim well known for promoting youth hopefully we'll see far more youngsters break into the first team.
