I ❤️ this video with Rita Connolly singing. Thanks also to Shaun Davey. St. Patrick, Thank you for this Great "Deers Cry" . Pray for us, St. Patrick. 🙏
This beautiful video has been my "go to" for strength and comfort during these most challenging times. Very grateful for the many gifts shared by those who made this uplifting space available on a global scale.🙏
Thank Thee and The Presence of God withing Thee for this beautiful video. God Bless St Patrick, Lord of the Patriarchs and for the Shield of His Breastplate that keeps away all ill and discord forever. I bind unto myself these days the Love of the All Christ Presence in St Patrick and all Gods Rays of Light. Bless God and Our Beautiful Earth and all the Hearts who live on Her!!
What a beautiful and very moving hymn. Listening to it for the first time after communion brought me to tears tonight in quiet reflection during the (live streamed) vigil funeral Mass for Auxiliary Bishop David O’Connell, Los Angeles Archdiocese. I had to listen to it again and discovered your life affirming version, here. May it inspire good deeds and heal our sorrows.
Hello, MMS2. The video is getting a "bit long in the tooth" now but seems to be speaking to the hearts of people still. It continues to moves me, and so it should. God is ALWAYS with us but God WAITS for us to turn to him: it's our choice.
@@02021808Channel Indeed. With open hearts, the powerful lyrics offer solace to the weary during the season of Lent, a pilgrim’s journey of reflection and renewal.
I first heard this at a retreat and have listened to it almost every morning. I traveled to Australia and New Zealand and the three churches I visited were named St. Patrick. I can only believe this beautiful prayer is reminding me how much I need God in my daily life. The video touches every part of daily life that reminds us what is really important. Wish all people could view and take in this message.
Knowing the power of music and faith, I am glad to have had such grace in my life and love, it was songs like this, and people like my Priests, who taught me to seek and study my Spiritual self. and now I know where I stand, both in this life and in my soul's path...thank you for putting this up so I can be reminded of the deepening power of faith
This was played today at my dear cousins funeral . It touched me immensely . She was a beautiful person Gid rest your soul Anne till we meet again ❤️❤️❤️🍀🍀🍀🙏🙏🙏
I first heard this beautiful prayer from the inspirational Bishop David O’Connell’s funeral. I was moved and have been wanting to learn it since. Coincidentally, a wonderful priest sent me this video on St. Patrick’s Feast Day. This morning I arise singing this prayer. May God strengthen our faith in Christ today until our last day 🙏
Thank you Shaun Davey and Rita Connolly! Since I 'stumbled' upon the album, "The Pilgrim" I've listened to Rita sing this prayer, and prayed it many times over. Especially after September 11, 2001, listening to and praying this prayer has helped move me forward more times than I can remember. Such a beautiful gift!
Thank you for this beautiful version of St. Patrick's Breastplate. It is so moving with Rita's lovely voice and Shaun's music. What a beautiful meditation with the photos. God Bless, Fr Brian
Well, let us thank whomever wrote the prayer; thank Shaun Davey for the way his music complements the message so wonderfully well; and thank God for giving people such wonderful gifts.
I was introduce to this on a retreat a during Lent and it touched the very core of me soul and spirit. The words and music are so powerful and the images on the video so well chosen. I have played it everyday since. It lifts me and gives me strength everyday to keep my eyes on Jesus.... something I sometimes struggle to do! Thankyou so much.
This sums up all that is of the Patrician Heritage that we have at our College. It will be very heart breaking when the school finishes at the end of the year. One sad day it will be. This song will always be a constant reminder of what once was.
A lady approached me after our 6pm Mass today and asked me if I could sing this song at her funeral (God knows when). I literally have no idea of this song and it’s tune. I searched it and here I found it. Now I’m crying, listening to this song.
Hi Savirio, glad you found it moving. I often hear a congregation praying a "Hail, Mary" or a "Prayer to St Michael the Archangel", or singing the "Salve Regina" after Mass, all great prayers. But if you are going to say a prayer after Mass then make it "The Breastplate" which reminds us that when we leave the church Christ is with us and in all around us.
Thank you for this beautiful song and images. It is painful for me to walk long distances which is necessary for me since I have no car. I'm learning this song and praying the Rosary which make that time more beautiful. God bless you today and always.
Hi, and happy St Patrick's Day! "Eucharist": wonderful lyrics and music, and most importantly the message is there for all to relate with and understand. Certainly the Breastplate of St Patrick is a Eucharist prayer, and you clever musicians can really make the message of such prayers touch the heart.
Very nice of you to say so. The video was produced for a prayer get-together of the Patrician Brothers and the second half of the video is attempting to reflect the main ministries the Brothers are involved in: education, health, and chaplaincy.
I share St. Patrick's Breastplate with song and verse; in Spiritual group settings and in Spiritual Care engagement as a Chaplain ,Spiritual Director , community member , friend. and this video is the best I have seen and experienced in 7 years, I was so inspired.
The singer is Rita Connolly. Beautifully sung. The best I have heard and I have heard quite a few others. She was born in Dublin. You will find her on TH-cam.
Lots of years ago, I bought 'The Pilgrim' CD in a flee market without knowing what it was and without listening to it first. Back home I listened and discovered a treasure! St-Patrick's Breastplate is still my all time favourite prayer and I regularly sing it myself when I'm down. It's a very powerful prayer!
Beautiful music. J'en ai les frins aussi! Go raibh maith agat, Shaun Davey for the music, Rita Connolly for the singing and St Patrick for the prayer, not to mention my dear frioend Anne for drawing my attention to it!
As a Patrician Brother. One of the first things I did when made Principal of our Primary was to have this prayer said each morning before we attended class. This tradition has been taken up by all our schools in Australia now. It is also a very large Part of our Celtic Spirituality as Patrician Brothers? If you wish to follow us see Patrician Brothers website. Brother Thomas Rice first.
Thank you for the beautiful video and music. I will use it for my Adult Confirmation prayer this week. Too bad there are not more life-giving clips like this on Utube rather than the disturbing things you can usually find. May God bless you for adding beauty to our world!
Pam Aherne Thanks, Pam. The video was created for a specific audience but it does seem to have a general appeal. Of course the music and the voice make the "lyrics" timeless and universal. A shame more people do not have ears.
Yes, the prayer does seem very popular with people. It is said daily in our Patrician Brothers schools here in Sydney. I think we just like knowing that our God is wonderful and is with us in our lives.
I am a Patrician Brother, Clint. St Patrick is our patron. There is no doubt the Irish have punched above their weight in relation to spreading the Good News, and I say that as an Australian with Irish heritage. Your mother must have been a woman of great faith, for this she was blessed with a peaceful death. You have a wonderful and inspiring memory of her passing. May she rest in peace.
Thanks for your comment.Ten years ago I taught a course on leadership in New Zealand. This became the theme of the weekend and was taken away across the country.
My husband had a liver transplant over 20 yrs ago, I went to the hospitals chaple and prayed silently. I just said dear God please keep my husband safe. Now at thus moment ge has suffered two strokes & fell in the hospital. When going into a nursing for rehabilitation he had another fall & broke his hip. That was six weeks ago & we are all hoping for another miracle. Anyone reading this include us in your prayers. Thanks.
My French is not much good, not good at all really, but I am glad the video moves you, that's probably the Holy Spirit in you and not a cold coming on. The computer translates that as: Mon français n'est pas beaucoup de bon, pas de bonnes à tous les vraiment, mais je suis heureux que le vidéo vous déplace, c'est probablement l'Esprit Saint de vous et pas un froid venant sur. God bless.
The music used here for "The Deers Cry" comes from the CD "The Pilgrim" composed by Shaun Davey, Tara Music Company Ltd., 1994. The whole CD goes for 73 minutes. Enjoy!

This is a beautiful rendition of the Breastplate. It takes me back to the days when I spoke the Breastplate aloud every day as my morning devotional.
I listen to it before my transplant operation and think of all who are part of this event. The grace of Christ be with us all.
I ❤️ this video with Rita Connolly singing. Thanks also to Shaun Davey. St. Patrick, Thank you for this Great "Deers Cry" . Pray for us, St. Patrick. 🙏

Whenever I doubt my faith or question the existence of God, I listen to this prayer and it humbles me

Thank you for that correction. It's taken seven years but better late than never. My apologies especially to Rita. I will fix it right now.

The Deer's Cry
Well, it is a rule-of-thumb I TRY to live by.

I just wondered the full title of the "Pilgim" CD. Thanks
Mine too. I mentally substitute "Jesus" for "Christ" It makes a huge difference to me.
Does anyone know where to find the actual sheet music?
Having children is NEVER a bad choice; get it?
Feel that video is the real face of God. If only those in power would stop and SEE what it says.
Christ with me etc. means I am the branch of Christ the vine, I do what Christ does. Love all including enemies.
