It can be kind of nice to have one product that does everything. It gives you moisture, definition and hold. But how do these products actually stack up? I decided to try out three curl creams that claim to give you all of these, and see what kind of results I get. I also followed it up by checking to see how they last into day 2. Can a curl cream give you hold? Can it last into day 2 and beyond?
I did follow the same wash and style routine for all of these as well as sleeping with my hair protected in the same way each time.
All products are sulfate free, silicone free, and cgm approved.

I just recently tried Curly Chic Your Curl Defined Curling Creme. I had to get on Sally's website. But wow was I surprised with the hold this creme provided.

Interesting! Thank you for sharing. I might have to look into that. It looks interesting and from a brief look it doesn't seem too expensive. I might have to give that try!

Hello Lina! I’m pretty interested in that AG ReCoil product after watching your vids on it. 🤔
To give more context, my hair type is probably around 2A/2B, very coarse, thick, high density, and low porosity. I’ve got those S waves. It’s so thirsty for moisture and I used to think it doesn’t like protein, but I’ve come to realize that’s not true. I’ve been growing it out ever since 2021, and right now, the longest layer reaches to just above the half way point of my back.
This past year I got COVID in January and I feel like ever since I’ve been struggling to get my hair to look as good as it once was (I feel like my hair has thinned out a bit at the top. Like it’s still thick but definitely not like before). There was a period of time where I used Olaplex 5, 6, and 9 with Argan Oil and that method was foolproof. My hair looked gorgeous, but as my hair has grown & after getting COVID, the Olaplex products just aren’t cutting it anymore. I’ve tried giving them a go twice now and it’s just not as good as it once was (and I’ve tried so many different ways of putting the products in too 😭). I know some peeps might say the silicone is the culprit, but tbh, I don’t mind silicones and the method worked at one point. Although, I wouldn’t mind not using them anymore either.
I’ve tried the curly girl method a couple times throughout the year, and have had mixed results. I think the best results I had were with the combo of the CurlSmith Multitask Conditioner, Weightless Air Dry Cream, and the Hydro Style Flexi Jelly, but a 1 and done styler like the AG ReCoil sounds enticing. I’ve tried the CurlSmith Feather Light Protein Cream but my results weren’t WOW. Like it wasn’t bad, but not great, and the scent was a bit too much for me 😭. I LOVE the multitask conditioner though. I genuinely think that’s the best conditioner I’ve ever used, and I can handle the scent since it just washes out.
Given that Black Friday is coming up and Ulta is having like huge hair care sales, I’m gonna try and jump on it and get some stuff. TJ Maxx has some CurlSmith products cheap sometimes! My mom found their orange co-wash the other week for $10. The 12oz bottle for $10. I saw that CurlSmith & AG are gonna be 40% off at Ulta starting Nov 18, so I’m trying to deduce a plan of the products I want lol. Nonetheless thanks for your videos! Figuring out how to take care of your long hair as a 25 year old man is hard. Idk how you ladies do it! Nonetheless, I say all of that to say, I think I’ll give the AG ReCoil a go. I like that it also has heat protectant too. I don’t blow dry my hair at all, but in the case that I do it’s good to know my hair will be protected. Hopefully the AG ReCoil works out well for me! Oh I also wanted to ask, do you feel like it’s too much pairing the ReCoil with a gel? Like the Hydro Style Flexi Jelly or the Ouidad Stronger Hold Humidity Gel? My hair liked both of those.
    Sorry for the long comment!

Thanks for leaving such a thorough comment! I'm happy if I can be helpful to you ☺️ hair care is for everyone. And ty be honest, I think I was actually 25 when I truly started to learn how to care for my long hair. Before then, it was a dry, puffy mess.
Thanks for the info on the deals for a couple products at Ulta. That's very good to know! I appreciate it. I need to check out TJ Maxx too. I've heard they have some good hair products, but haven't had the chance to check it out. Obviously I need to 😂
As for the AG Re:Coil, I still love this product and I actually have a more recent video where I pair it with the Ouidad climate gel. It's the heat & humidity video if you want to check it out. But in short, it works really well together and I'd definitely recommend it. I haven't tried it with the Curlsmith gels, but I bet they would work well. ☺️
      Hope that helps!

I have the treluxe cream but stopped using it maybe a year ago but I LOVE their gel. My hair is low porosity and I find it just does not get along with products that have coconut oil in them or that are super high in protein. I have been eyeing the AG after Manes by Mell mentioned it. The cream with the strongest cast I have ever tried had to be the orange marmalade by ecoslay. But it's also super moisturizing so it can definitely way down hair if you use too much. I have the curlsmith protein cream and that paired with their air dry cream is a great combo and will give me maybe 3 days out of my wash day if I just want to give my hair a break from gel. I usually use gel so using cream is rare for me

I get that. I have to be very careful with the Treluxe cream because it's so heavy. It's really easy to overdo. But you're right. Their gel is amazing. I really like their serum too.
I would recommend the AG Re:coil. If you have problems with protein though, you might want to be cautious. It has a decent amount in it. The AG Curl Fresh Definer has less, but does still have a small amount. That could be a better option if your hair doesn't like protein.
I haven't tried the Ecoslay yet. Would you recommend it?
I haven't tried that combination with the Curlsmith products yet. I may have to give it a try. Thanks for the advise and all the great information! I feel the same about gel. It's hard for me to go without one. But it can be fun to experiment on occasion.

@@Linas_lovelylocks @Lina's Lovely Locks Because my hair is course, volume isn't really a problem for me and I do not find the treluxe cream to be too heavy. My hair I wouldn't say is protein sensitive as long as I do not overdue it, but I've been on my wavy hair journey for over 3 years so I have a sense of when it needs what. Definitely going to look into AG.
I would recommend ecoslay if you want to try something new. It is affordable and they have eco friendly packaging plus you would be supporting a small business. I like the product if I want little to no frizz but not much volume. Definitely pair it with a protein heavy product though.
I like to play with different stylers and probably have way too many hair products than I feel proud to admit, but it's all part of the fun. Mousse is something I need to get back to. I still think my fave styler is not your mother's curl talk mousse

@@ceystal That's fair. I know it took me a while to figure out my hairs needs. It's nice once you figure it out. I hope the AG Curl Activator works for you as well as it works for me.
Thanks for the information. I'll have to look into it. It's great to support small businesses, but I'll keep your recommendation in mind.
I'm the same way. I have way more product than I really should. But like you said, it's just so fun to play with and try new things to see what works and what doesn't. And I'm the same with the mousse as well. I should try using more mousse and see if it helps with volume. I like the Not Your Mother's Curl Talk Mousse as well.

Thank you for your question! Your friend should be able to find it at Ulta. Ulta is just about everywhere here, so that would be your best bet. And every Ulta I've been to has it as well as a lot of other curly hair products. I hope they can find it!
