Another tip for texture or volume sprays is to spray it in your hands first and then smooth it into your hair like you would a gel that way you get better distribution and you're not going crazy spraying it everywhere like I know I would lol.
Having more water in your hair is a must for a hard hold gel! I actually find I can take a bit of a hard hold gel in a spray bottle with some warm water and spray it into my hair that way which gives great distribution with such a small amount.
Yesss I'm so looking forward to that curlsmith volume video! Their mousse got me really excited to try once black friday rolls around!
Another tip for that those who get that producty feeling I found if I let my hair sit a few min with the leave in/cream before my styler, my low porosity hair absorbs the moisture better! I usually apply it in the shower and clip it up before styling out of the shower.
I love using a foam after gel! It also works great when doing the smasters technique!

*Excellent Series* . Lina, thank you for this awesome series. I could have benefitted from this 4 years and much $$ ago. Finding my "Holy Grail" products and styling routine has been a journey for my fine, low density, 2B-c hair. Yes, I have a shelf full of products in my linen closet. Some are a re-purchase, some are things I scored at TJ Maxx. (most are because of budget) For me, the most helpful thing I did was document every wash day, and I still do. If there's something about a product I just can't tolerate; scent, flakey, irritating, it's going in the donate or trash bin. My hair is the healthiest it's been since going through menopause. For me, protein was a key element I was missing, as well as using a hard water shampoo for maintenance. Today was a wash day, and rainy(high humidity). I used the Ion Hard Water Shampoo and a protein dense conditioner, Curlsmith Aqua Shape Up(on soaking wet hair), Rusk blofoam on the roots, L'oreal Boost It Mousse to finish before diffusing. I avoided anything with glycerin and did no brush styling. My personal gauge for an epic wash day is one curl family, she's the closest I get to 2C. If she looks good, we're going to have good days ahead. I also want an easy refresh. Most of the time I just mist distilled water, scrunch and air dry.

I know starting off that I heard protein was bad for my lower porosity hair. But I find it works such wonders for me! Your hair looks great, as always. Thanks for all of the info. I’m just now trying the Curlsmith protein cream with a gel that I like. I had a good wash day yesterday (I used Color Wow shampoo & conditioner) and the protein cream & gel. My hair still looks good this morning-yay!!! Thanks again for all of the great content!

@@Linas_lovelylocks I used the Verb Curl Foaming gel and finished with FrizzEaze Curl Defining gel (I can’t find the curl defining gel anymore. I think they changed the formula.)
I did my hair on Tuesday of this week and it still looks decent!
Wow! That's great! That's a bummer the gel isn't available anymore. I'll have to do some experimenting with different gels. Thanks for your input
