    What's the advantage to editing the pages as parent pages rather than normally? Also, how do you ensure quality with a 5-10 mb export? I've only been able to get it down to 39mb from indesign without compromising the quality and have tried every trick I could find.

      The advantage is really only if you are trying to stay to a strict format, otherwise it's really just personal preference. I typically only like to do a parent page for most of the background contexts like titles, page numbers and those things

    Hey Carter, this video is super helpful. I’m in my second year of my BSLA program and I’m starting to put together my portfolio but I’m worried that it’ll seem underwhelming due to the lack of design work I’ve done so far. I only have two designs from last semester that I’m going to fix up and use. I also thought about putting in some of the work I’ve done for my internship. What do you think? What else should I include if I don’t have much to show right now? Thanks again!

    • @DesignItGreen

      I think including some internship work is great for what stage of school you are in right now! And on the same breath, don’t worry too much about the quality of your work as you are only at the very beginning of your studies and the work will improve naturally over the years. The most important thing to focus on is finding a good format you like and showcasing your own abilities within them. Because eventually as you get more experience you can simply swap out old projects for new ones very quickly with a consistent format

    Hello, could you ask people to submit their portfolio and do sort of a review. It'll really be helpful.

    • @DesignItGreen

      I have thought of that! I’ll see if I can arrange that

    Do you try to match your portfolio with your resume? Im currently working on my resume, cover letter and portfolio and they all have the same text and color palette. Too much?

    • @DesignItGreen
      @DesignItGreen  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would format it the same if it’s included in the portfolio, if it a separate file I wouldn’t worry about it being the same format and style. I try to keep the resume as traditional and simple as possible!

    Hi. I've created my portfolio in the same way as you have with the intent of it being like a book. I was wondering how I'm supposed to create a pdf book now that I'm done? I've tried so many things but it still comes off as a normal pdf document with half the pages, and not as a pdf book. Would really appreciate any help! Kind regards

    • @DesignItGreen
      @DesignItGreen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, there is a way to export the file so it reads like a book. When you export a pdf in InDesign you will be greeted with the export options window, within that you can change the default output to export as pages to spreads which will have the program put it together like a book for you!

    Hi. I've just bought one of your templates but it says that I have almost 60 missing links. There are just a few images I can move and the rest of it I can't edit or move at all. The text is not editable too. How I suppose to edit the content and replace is with my projects?

    • @DesignItGreen
      @DesignItGreen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, that is due to the set up of the document. If you hit W in the work space to show all of editable contents you will notice that everything is locked so that things do not get moved around when you are editing. To unlock them you just need to hit ctrl, shift, and left click on each line of text, image etc. Alternatively you could make the adjustment in the master pages set as well. The missing links will disappear as you replace with your own work.

    I really love the video, but how do you get it to look so realistically in the thumbnail, is it a setting in indesign or is it something else?

    • @DesignItGreen
      @DesignItGreen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! This is something else I did in photoshop for the thumbnail, but you could use a site like Issuu to see and share in a format similar to this!
