You're probably right. Not by me, of course. I actually care about Venom's character but most people would've been satisfied with him just LOOKING the part.
I think Tophers acting and Venoms lack of screen time were the main things people took issue with. Although is they just replaced the Venom in the movie with the comic or render version of Spiderman 3 Venom then he'd definitely have a lot more fans. Eddie in the comics has always had some awareness and acknowledgedment regarding of his wrong actions. He attempted to rationalize in order to avoid guilt. 2007 eddie has none of that. Another thing is that, venom would never team up with anyone as he sees himself as the hero of the story. He would rather take down spiderman villains and then go after spiderman only for himself. I mean yeah he’s origin is accurate but needed to be buff af. But his characterization isnt close to the comics venom. (PS: im not saying i prefer 2018 venom but both versions are not that accurate)

It’s painfully clear that Sony made the Venom movies and Morbius for money and nothing more. Every Spider-Man movie has effort and passion put into them in some form, except for these cash-grabby, soulless disgraces. When Sony doesn’t get directly involved with Spider-Man movies, they can get big hits, but when they touch their films (Spider-Man 3 and TASM 2), they will screw them up. And when they make the movies themselves, they’ll be garbage. The characters in the villain-without-Spider-Man, Spider-Man movies are so insulting. They’re one-dimensional characters with no charm to them whatsoever, like the Emoji movie characters. Seriously, I find the version of Venom that is a nutty sociopath who prays for God to kill people who’ve wronged him, with his villain alter ego only getting 10 minutes of screen-time with most of that time the face-mask being peeled back, to be far more interesting than the version that has two whole movies about him. If Sony cared, I’m sure Tom Hardy can be a great Venom, but as of right now, he’s insufferable, and it doesn’t help with the fact that Sony thought it was a good idea to make an Eddie Brock/Venom origin story without Spider-Man. The only characteristic I can give Hardy is that he constantly sounds like he’s either burping or getting his family jewels crushed while speaking. Hardy isn’t even scary, despite him biting off heads (Topher Grace is scarier than him), because of how cringey his Eddie Brock and Venom are (Eddie Brock just acts like a tool for Venom to use, and Venom says that he is a loser on his planet; how am I supposed to take any of this seriously). I was so happy that Not-Venom was removed out of the MCU immediately in No Way Home mid-credit scene being bad and especially the worst one. We can finally get a version of Venom that actually is Venom (a villain/rival for Spider-Man) because the Symbiote is in the MCU. The worst mid and post-credit scenes are the Morbius ones. They’re so disgraceful on the level of the sins from the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Sony ignored the function of the spell and betrayed Vulture’s character in Homecoming. So many terrible ideas are put in these movies, again just like the concept of the Emoji movie.

Just watched it for the first time on Disney+ and I’m glad I never paid to watch it in theaters. Every minute of that movie is just confused and bad. Tom Hardy could’ve been a really good Eddie Brock. The problem is that the script doesn’t allow him to be like able or charming or even for u to root for him. It just goes through the motions of an origin movie and it does it badly

Even if i enjoyed the first Venom movie i can tell it ain't the best, and i can agree, the swat fight scene was definitely the best, but personally i think the scene after that is kinda good, i like the idea of this version of eddie being scared of the symbiote somewhat, the voice direction doesn't really sell it to me in the english ver tho, thankfully i speak spanish so i can say the voices are better in spanish so yeah. I've never watched the full movie with the english cast now that i think about it, just certain parts. Maybe it's a worse experience with the english cast????
It really wasn't , like yeah I get some writing choices like the inconveniences of parasite. U could make a argument that the symbiotes are essentially killing the host maybe because it feels it's survival rate isn't high enough but thats head cannon besides you have human people tryna explain a alien species I don't take everything they say as hard fact . Besides that there's also how Eddie gets venom I mean it's whatever venom happens so I don't see it as a big deal it's a honest to got 50/50 for me . The upset about spiderman not being in this film is in my eyes a really crybaby argument especially since venom has basically outgrown spiderman and is his own character. The simple fact of the matter is: There has never been a good depiction of Venom in live action. Determining which Venom is better or worse is as relevant as determining whether or not urine tastes better than feces. "Venom". "Spider-Man 3". Both Sony productions.

I didn't wanna see Venom played as a comedy and if Venom matched with the others, they'd have to be a complete match so it kinda does feel like sloppy writing. I always interpreted as Eddie rejecting venom, just like you can have multiple “soulmates”, venom can have multiple perfect hosts. Most likely tried to find one but failed resulting in serval people dying. It doesn’t make that much sense given that venom should do everything in his power to keep Eddie Brock with him

Sony didn't ruin shit, I get not liking a version of a character which is fine, but saying like it is fact that Sony somehow ruins venom is just fucking ridiculous :/ Like I am big fan of venom and love pretty much any incarnations and I can sit here say venom in the venom movies is still good and enjoyable take on venom. Spiderman 3 venom isn't better and honestly the most random and forced in character in the film, if he had a different design, better motivation, and was saved for maybe a later film, sure maybe I can sit there and agree, but just because sony venom is like other versions, it isn't a bad thing or sony "ruined" him. He is harmless take on him and I am happy they leaned more of the goofier side of venom and anti hero sort of aspect then him being a villain. And honestly this is the only movies that I can deal with not having spiderman unlike the other garbage solo movies they have made of other characters :/
