30,000 of bananas is a song by harry chapin. About a steep hill and a truck
I'll have to google it
@shanehastattoos you must tell me what you think of the song. I love listening to Harry, especially cats in the cradle
@@yoshimoto2600 we all know that song, ill let you know, stay tuned
this song is awesome, and the perfect response to the word of the week #1 yoshi
@@shanehastattoos thanks mate. That song is base on a true story
Shane… It doesn’t matter to me what you’re driving because what counts & appeals to “the family” is your oh-so elegant “commentary” 👍😆
thanks gerard
@@shanehastattoos … You could be driving the old dak-dak you highlighted at the start of the video & make it entertaining mate ✌️😆
@@gerardroll6468 these videos are just me being me mate, glad you enjoy
@@shanehastattoos … How could I not?? “Story time with Uncle Shane” is always riveting viewing 👍😁
Rubbish people who Drive s*** boxes hold that opinion if you've got to be out there you may as well be looking good while you're doing it
When I was a kid living in Sydney, we had this huge hill that was very popular with the local kids with skateboards, roller skates & their BMX bikes. We’d gather at the top & see who’d go the furthest & the fastest before they’d have to “hit the brakes” or else they’d run the risk of running straight into “very busy traffic”. I used to be good at it, until I ploughed into the back of an old Ford Cortina while on my bike 🚲 😵💫🚲. Following a 2-month stay in hospital, I never rode that hill again… On anything 🙅🏻♂️🙅🏻♂️🙅🏻♂️. That collision FUCKIN’ HURT!!! 😵😵😵
No more bloody loud indicator beeping!!!! Yay!!! Good video mate, safe travels!
I knew there would be people that appreciate this
@ 0:25… “That is an old Kombi Van”… Shane, that is true but for those of us who grew up with one in the family as kids, we’ll fondly remember them as the “trusty family Dak-Dak” ☝️😆. Mate… It doesn’t matter that you’re in a new truck as the important thing is, like you said, you still have a job 👍😁. Another great edition of “Story time with Uncle Shane” 👏👏👏
I rememeber it as the redlining embarrassment that needed repairs almost weekly. I never wanted to be seen near it so I'd walk or ride a bike 9km to school and back instead. All my friends parents had the cool cars, variants, Kingswoods, a Pontiac, a Bel air, old falcons. My parents decided to have an ancient phagswagon kuntbi
@@jamesaustralian9829 … You’re right there, about the dak-dak needing weekly repairs. When my family moved from the bush to the city, the Kombi was the first family car we had & it was a complete shit-box, but it got us to where we needed to go🤙😄
Hubby and l had an old kombi, a 1974 air cooled. We named it Bertie Beetle. We often drove up Clyde Mountain at Batemans Bay. Those were the days when we lived in Canberra. A steady 40kph in 2nd gear, l watched the mirrors whilst driving and if there were 5 cars behind me, l,d pull over and let em pass. 4 cars? tuff luck..! We would often pass water cooled 4x4,s pulling BIG caravans, bonnet open, radiator boiling, emiting steam! But the old Bertie Beetle just simply drove on by, we left them in our wake. Bertie may have been old but he left many vehicles for dead on hills etc..lol. Joh, Bunbury, Western Australia.
I love Bunbury, great story too, cheers
My parents had one, that god awful vrrrm vrrrm vrrrm sound non stop, and when on the freeway that thing would be going off its tits. Raaaam raaaaam raaaaam non stop. No bloody radio or anything. Just the sound of that lawnmower engine redling and dad yelling at FK wit drivers.
Bunbury, yeah been there too. I like that big tree you have out that way, been up it 3 times. A bit further south ..some camping site around Yallingup or somesuch I swear, in the pitch black if one looks up, there is the greatest display of the heavens that can be found on our planet.
Likes & Thumbs for you and the old bloke :)
thumbs up for old mate
Bloody good truck mate. Pensioners waiting to get on the sauce.
🤣
Learnt to drive in a cab over Kenworth...... my favourite truck for visibility and manoeuvrability having the mirrors in line with the trailer and being able to see down the side with a quick glance with no aero in the road. So nice
As a freight train driver, I appreciate what you have to drive around bud. That traffic would do my head in...and the hours. Dunno how this channel popped up but have subscribed just to hear the yarns. 👍🙂
thanks greg 👍
Flat nose Kenny’s are also very cool… they have character
Love your ramblings mate. Keep up the good work.
Cheers from NZ
I'm a good rambler
Hello from chch bro
I always drive with Visor down, there's only sky up there, no traffic,
I think it’s more important that you can see where you’re driving. I like seeing the roads from your perspective but I’m really here for the chit chat 😊
I can see perfect with the visor down, the camera sits a bit higher on my head so "better for you guys and girls"
Cabover's are great for around town , also bonneted Day-cabs . Everything is just EASIER . Cabover day-cabs are AMAZING .
But for Longhaul give me a Long wheelbase Conventional please . More COMFORTABLE .
Definitely lift the sun visor. Really narrow vision with it down. But when the sun is glaring I guess you have no choice.
Love the gear shift pattern on the sun visor
not everyone would understand how to do it 🤣
Worked for gilbert and roach back in the 80s doing parts deliveries love the kenworths
Trouble with a cabover when you break down you stand out in the rain with the mechanic, that sucks .But shane they are much easier to get into shit yards 😊😊😊
Kym
Adelaide
When i seen the title i thought you had parked in a US truck stop😂
Love the view from the new truck, visor down please.
Enjoy your videos so much and the interaction with you. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Cardiff is bugger of place with the hills and shit.
Cheers mate
cheers mate
Cabovers always gave me the shits ,mainly scania’s but a couple of vovlo’s and just never felt safe with nothing between me and the road but that’s just me
Hey Shane, with the COE its better for us if you have the visor up otherwise it's like the old letterbox format on your tv 😂
Another good thing is you won't have the microwave rattling around in the background.
Keep trucking buddy
microwave install soon
Hi Shane,
Love the Kennie. Is she red and white, and where’s Bear?
No I’m not nuts 🤪. The used to be a show on telly, when I was a kid, called BJ McKay and his best friend bear (bear was a chimpanzee). I loved the show and if I ever had the money I wanted a Kenworth just to drive to the corner shop and back.
Steep hills! Come to Gympie Qld to see real hills. Semi’s can’t even drive up or down them.
white with a red chassis, same with trailer white with a red underbody
The old saying is if you get one red light you get every red light Shane have a nice long weekend
The sun visors up is a much better view! 👍
A flat nose has its benefits in small places, in winter we were driving on a small hill, very slippery one, when the car in front off us stopped too pick somebody up, he had a 4 wheel drive we did not hehe so we were slipping back too a main road, luckily we were able stop b4 something bad happened.
So we are blastin' down a hill, I'm sitting on the front handlebars, one mate standing on the back bolts, he starts slipping and yells out 'brakes'! Our trusty rider hits the brakes, I go flyin' hands meet/meat gravel rash.......Ahh, BMX bandits.
Its nice inside for an old combie truck.
First time I got a 10speed racing pushbike as a 12 year old I saved up money i made from mowing a few lawns and bought a speedo for it. Hammering down a steep hill testing the speedo i got up to 60kph when the front brakes fell off the handlebars and were now hanging down by the brake cable right next to the front wheel. I tried to brake with the rear brakes only and as soon as i touched them the hanging brake mechanism went into the front wheel spokes - it pretty instantly tore about half the spokes out then suddenly the front wheel just jammed up solid and I went flying in my tshirt and shorts and stackhat over the handlebars at probably 55kph. ended up with some beaut gravelrash from that one and had to limp the remains of the bike home on foot lol. I heard in europe cabovers are real popular with the narrow streets and urban driving tight stuff over there
Was in a 409 once had a dolly and 4x4 with a d8 cat dozer on and got dry bogged on a sharp little hill that I had to turn off the highway and back on myself in the end blocked everything and had to get a moxy down to drag me in so other trucks and vehicles could get moving again
Climbing Thunder Bolt Way with my ex ambo over near Baxter’s Ridge. Didn’t realise how steep it was until it was too late. Porsche driver on my rear flashing their high beams as the best I could do was 60km/h up that steep grade.
Back in the late 70s I did my first Melb to Qld in my S2 KW and I new my brakes weren't good but the bloke I was traveling with said gust go slow you'll be OK , this is Cunningham Gap , ( the short version ) well I had my first and only Runaway , true story ( I adjusted my brakes up the road )
Love your videos Shane, nothing wrong with a K200 big cab 👍🏻
lost breaks on my bmx when i was younger down the massive hill down on gaffney st in pascoe vale and stacked it lucky no broken bones lol
lucky my man
Cabovers are nice in my opinion mate
Lunches at Cardiff RSL is amazing..run with visor up and can we see the outside
love your legionary commentary and stories mate strait pipes will make the kenny a bit louder and for the intro how about "Welcome back to another day in the cab"
Worst driveway ive taken a truck up is hartway galvanisers in Naval base. Its a hill on a hill up a hill.
definetly love the K200, prefer the driver visor up if we can keep it like that. As for the sound of it, they do sound a bit boring with the stock exhaust, but they go alright with something a bit more open. But at the end of the day its still an X15 lol
Might be a bit quiet but sounds sweet
New truck and no walk around and cab tour? Such a tease..
video will come soon
i love a good reverse
Steep story: was spreading fertiliser in a tractor and was heading downhill when I found a wet spot and lost all traction, went for an 80m slide sideways and finished up at the bottom just in front of a concrete water trough and very brown pants 🤣
great video. as far as the new truck, if you're happy I'm happy. you've got to drive it after all. can you put a sunstrip on the windscreen tinted to suit your conditions? view is better with the visor up but safe is always best.
cheers mike
Yeah don’t knock the cab overs particularly if you’re driving a truck& dog delivery gravel in the burbs! Cheers from Downunder 🦘🦘🦘❤️🇦🇺
As always great video Shane mate.I hope you get the sun viser soon for the truck mate.
at least you can see around better when maneuvering in tight spots. it needs more 'oomf' in the exhaust note. view is great with visor up
Have always had a soft spot for the cabover kennys don't see to many on the roads specially up here in the north of QLD lot more long nose but in saying that they all are good enjoy all your vid mate find myself going up and down the bruce highway talking like you at the idiots on the road stay safe out there mate take care and thanks for the vids
Hey mate I'm in K2 also, i find it rides pretty bad being it's worst trait. Always interested in other drivers techniques with the 18speed, would be cool if you could incorporate some stick-work going forward!! ❤
Truck looks good, not a fan of the kenworth banner but if you don’t mind it that’s good.
Great video mate 👍
Try Brown Street Newcastle hill start i’ll never get your ring up that that one will try that Street In the middle of Newcastle😂
Oooorrrrrrrt tishhh
You want a steep hill mate, try pj welding 2 streets over from atlas. Blind side reverse down probably as steep as atlas, telegraph pole right on the driveway just to keep you honest lol
Or reversing the old S bend ramp to deliver at the old Coles and Kmart at Katoomba
vacuum tankers where you can only park downhill and your mini tanks fill up too quick
Tryna deliver 2 pallets of tiles in a HR truck (2 TON of tiles) up some blokes steep driveway near stockrington that was loose wet gravel with a drop off to the left and I needed a run up on the hill, with a single drive lazy axle UD quon, fuck it was nervracking, would've been a challenge in something 2wd let alone a truck, but I got it done without fucking up his driveway😂
Kenworth K200 prime mover
Makes me chuckle that the tough, cool, "good ol boy's" of trucking like to boast and brag about their long nose Kenworths, Macks and Stars like there is nothing better... When a modern Volvo or Scannia cabover shits all over them in every way, comfort, safety, visibility, fuel economy, reliability and ease of driving... all better !!
First. You happy with the new truck?
I'd give it a 7/10 at the moment
stuck on bush track cruiser ute with tailer had to use cable ,pulleys, chains 4wd tractor pulling up hill from behind ,2 hours later unstuck doh
oof
I love the Aerodyne KW’s
Question mate… as a part of the new work restructuring and you now doing 5 days a week, is the wages the same, better or worse?
or are you doing more KM’s that makes up for one less day on the road? Thanks mate
Can you do a truck review video on much make is best to worst and why
Which *
i can do my best
i went downhill on a bmx and my chain came off, i tried to go up a hill which was my front yard to slow down, and i got
clotheslined by a tree
Can't go wrong with a Kenworth, and I like the K200s. Does yours have the extending wheel arch ladder? And is it still a proper manual road ranger?
Edit: yeah it's a road ranger, I just noticed the shift pattern on the visor when you flipped it down
Two a week mate that would suit me to a tee there not looking for drivers are they? You live melbourne end cob
Live in Newcastle
around town a cabover is easier
in saying that the euros have far better visablity
does driving a truck in a snow storm on coq in bc count as a hill story
Hmmm video time 13:57 that's different, never seen one of those before.
On it like a bonnet ,,,,,,, no wait you ain't got one
it's gooooone
What's your thoughts about how the k200 drives compared to the t659? I've heard 200s can be a bit rough to drive. You'll probably grow to appreciate how quiet it is though.
Hey mate my kids and i love the videos can i get a shout out on the next video
stay tuned 👍👍
Can I please ask what you record on,? Or what device you use? As a Truckie I’m thinking of taking this recording up also? But as a beginner can you provide some insight? Cheers TAS Trucker
Scarydyne
Have u been up scenic coming outta Lithgow?
do you do lives?, is that on fakebook or something else?
Did you have to wait an "hour and a half to get your load off "?! that's sad 😂🤣😂 you could try the "x39 patches maybe "? 🤣😂🤣
Their doing the same in Port Augusta, building all these new sheds, obviously going to have trucks going in and out, and what do they do - make these god awful Fkn shit driveways, narrow gates and narrow shed doors - how utterly stupid!
Shane I got my electricity bill and that was fuckin steep af another mountain to climb 🤥
Not in a kenworth detroit 56'?
Visor UP is better, probably not for your eyes though, put ya bloody sun glasses on mate.
What motor are you running in her?
You call that a hard door to reverse into really
You still doing the newy to melb run ?
yes mate
What’s your best roadhouse on that run? I usually pull up at the ampol in Holbrook
@@seanjohn5430 bp lavington has great showers and decent food
Going to atlas are ya

Hey Shane,
I think it's good you have one of those shitworths, one less available on the street for me to drive.
Just one of them old bloke that hate shitworths but each to thier own choices.
Love your content great viewing mate
Hey mate, I was around 8 years old , my Mum had a sheep, it was tied up but stupid here decides to ride it , I get on and the bloody sheep takes off, I didn't think about what would happen when the the rope goes tight, Sheep stops , I kept going , skin off the hands, and elbows , that was first and last time I ever rode a Sheep. just as well it wasn't a Goat with horns.🦙😵😀😀
