Honestly thought she came off as more protective of us, being worried Drayton would drag us into whatever he was scheming, which of course he did. Although it turned out to be benign. But both she and Lacey seem quite suspicious of his motives in general and thinking he was trying to take advantage of us.
Kieran may have a crush on the player. Unlike Shauna and Lillie, whose dialogue changes depending on gender. Kieran's dialogue doesn't change for the player. There are some moments in the DLC where Kieran's crush comes into play. Kieran got embarrassed when Carmine told the player Kieran spend the whole night talking about them. He said "You're...You're special to the player before changing the subject. He gets all flustered when the player said they're friends. Not to mention he gives the player an Applin. We all know what giving a person an Applin means.
Definitely! Which makes Amarys' case kinda sad, because putting aside if they would even mesh well as a couple, she wants to be to him what the player IS to him. It's kinda doomed to be one-sided. Given we probably get more interactions with Kieran and Carmine after the Epilogue and the Applin thing is there, I'm assuming it's gonna become more clear there. And I do wonder if we get to see Amarys and him interact and/or see her react to you guys' relationship. Love the fact that this is the game they choose to put romantic interest between some characters in, since it's the one with the most emphasis on relationships. And with the league club members all being teens, there's just bound to be some romantic tension here and there, even if nothing ever comes out of it. Basically everyone thinks the MC is super kewl, so it just makes sense that there's gonna be some character thrown into the mix who'd straight up crush on them
You forgot something. Lacy mentions Drayton a lot, and Drayton openly wonders why Lacy treats him differently than the rest. Lacy seems to keep turning down Crispin because she has eyes on Drayton, and it's kinda funny.
Lacey never turns Crispin because Crispin always chickens out, Hybrid makes it seem like he's always trying to hit on her and she turns him when if you actually look at the dialogue he always chickens out before asking, and she's just annoyed he won't say what he wants.
Crispin & Lacey have what I call the Ichigo/Orihime relationship. They are friends, have feelings for each other, and acknowledge it to a capacity but are still dense in their own way to fully confess.
I actually thought both Carmine and Kieran were crushing on the player At the end of Teal Mask, Carmine starts to try to say “it’s kinda embarrassing, but I actually-“ that gets interrupted by Briar’s phone call, and throughout that part of the story she keeps blatantly elevating herself as “pretty,” like when she says she expects the player to be so distracted by her as to lose battles, or when you find Fezandipiti and she compares herself to it. She doesn’t really direct these comments at anyone else, so when Drayten asks you on the lunchroom date and she freaks out, I thought it was because she was jealous of him and not the player. Though the way she gets casual again when she says “were you seriously about to explain to me what a date is?” Does make a little more sense if she were crushing on Drayten, bc she’d be more likely to be embarrassed talking about it in front of the person she likes/wants to make an impression on. But I figured there was just more evidence of her liking player. ,,which is wacky bc I shipped player w/ Kieran bc,,, come on. He “couldn’t stop talking about you” at the beginning?? Follows you at a distance (,,,yeah he’s just shy in general but I still think it’s worth mentioning), Gets a “tingly feeling” hearing you call him a “friend,” He kinda gapes at you when his grandparents put you in the jinbei and do your hair (they also say “it’s like I’ve gained another granddaughter/grandson” and that’s…. Lol. Though I don’t remember Kieran reacting to that line,,, but it also means he doesn’t contest it, or he could be just so taken aback by how you look that he doesn’t hear it,, but this is more theory than evidence.) Is super apologetic for his sister (which could just be read as them caring about each other and wanting others to understand them, but the way Kieran gets pissed to the point that he does over Carmine stealing your attention and friendship and blowing off her insults and attempts to reach out + just in general the fact that she practically emotionally abuses him from the start, even if it’s unintentional/usually done with the intention of trying to get him to “fit in” = I really think he’s more worried about how the player sees him/how comfortable they are in the moment/how comfortable they are *sticking around*) Drayton tries to rile him up by pointing out how close he is with the player at the lunch date He *wants* the player to succeed and reach him because he wants to be the one to beat them and *show off* how much stronger he’s become- he wants them to admire him. During the Terapagos part of the DLC he pretty blatantly says Carmine took the player away from him + His general obsession with player/beating the player I think isn’t just driven by the rivalry and bitterness about Ogerpon and being lied to/treated like a kid People in comments here are saying it’s been datamined that Kieran trades you an Applin, which is apparently like trading you a Luvdisc (I didn’t play SwSh but people are saying it’s a tradition introduced there) Also it’s not exactly a shipping thing, it could just be a friend thing,,, but just this on top of everything else, he buys you a candy apple at the festival with his own allowance. Kids are gonna treasure that money, so to spend it on someone else they really gotta like you. Anyways Lmao Also I didn’t know about Amarys crushing on Kieran/that dialogue about feeling her heart race that’s crazy,, I think they could be cute, it’d just be hard to initially break the ice. Though it’s worth mentioning that she comments on wanting to be to Kieran what the player is… what does that say about player and Kieran’s relationship… Anyways. This game was crazy sfhgksnkfjskjf I don’t think we’ve had such blatant Pokemon shipping before ,,I mean I always loved N x Touko/Touya but even that wasn’t so obvious, it was more projecting bc I loved N. This game has pairings that are just “they literally said,,,, like there’s no speculation here it’s just canon.”

I think it’s more like Drayton mentions the word “Date” to get a rise out of Carmine, who acts like a jealous kinda person, because it definitely seems like she’s interested in the player character
@@user-bb1nu3to3qsorry to burst your bubble but the dialogue didn’t change even if you played the female MC. Carmine will still act shocked and stutter. It’s not any sort of bait. And personally I have fun teasing her because we get to see her act a bit like her old self compared to how she is starting Indigo disk. Frankly the only time they do something with gender is Clavell with how he addresses you. Beyond that it’s rarely there and characters act as if you’re the same regardless of which gender you choose.
While Amayris may like kieran, he clearly is crushing on the player. We, the player, are from Galar. Kieran knows about this. He also knows of the Galarian tradition of giving an Applin to the one you love. He literally gives us an Applin post Pecharunt event. And he practically confessed. He's mild yandere coded. And yes Drayton is into the player. He openly flirts and even outright has us enter his trial for free.
I think it’s really funny how Carmine and Kieran bring the tsundere and yandere stereotypes into Pokémon lol. Carmine is mean and slowly opens up, while Kieran is first nice and slowly goes crazy.
I think Drayton is subtly manipulative, I interpreted his actions as buttering us up to fulfill his plans to bring Kieran back to his senses...he feels guilty enough that he has to lay it out for you when you face him.
From Paldea, so your first point about our character being from Galar isn't necessarily a thing (although my character canonically is from Galar, that's just my oc), but Applin still means what it does. There's no way Kieran coincidentally would give us an Applin like that, no... :)

Fun fact, there's a chance when Amarys ask us about our relationship with Kieran to choose that we're a couple, and she's shocked, then she tries to change the meaning of what we said for not being an actual couple (and we weren't a couple, but is quite interesting her reaction to that possibility)
The specific phrase we use is "paired up (with Kieran)". Unlike the word "couple", "pair" doesn't necessarily have a romantic connotation attached to it (it's only when it's used in that context)

It gets even more shippy with Mochi Mayhem. After playing the epilogue, you can get your rematch with Kieran and he'll trade you an Applin. Applins as gifts as established by Sword and Shield are things you give people if you like them romantically.

You're basically part of his special family now. Meanwhile Nemona does like being your friend, but her biggest interest is battling strong trainers. She just wants to have someone who's an actual challenge in the sport she loves. So she doesn't care what relationship you have with others, she's just happy that you brought another strong trainer into her life that way. After all, even if you idk, went ahead and declared you wanna marry Kieran or some, she'd just be like "oh nice so if I go to your house I'd get to battle two strong trainers in one go lucky me :D"
I always thought Kieran had a massive puppy crush on the player ngl. Just the way Carmine keeps teasing him about it too (older sister energy) revealing that he constantly talks about us at home and wanted to pair with us but was too shy to say it. I know it could just be a platonic idealization thing, but I feel like there's a little more to it. Plus MC and Kieran are around the same age so I don't think it's harmful to have this lil headcanon about the two. (BTW sorry but you're smoking with Carmine and Drayton. She does NOT like him, not even in a "tsundere" way. If anything, she most likely has a crush on the MC since she was about to confess before being interrupted.) EDIT: 2nd dlc came out and he also trades us an applin of all things, which is canonically known to be a pokemon you give to show romantic interest. Just sayin. So personally I see it as Amarys having a crush on Kieran, who himself has a crush on the player. Carmine also has a crush on the player (but it's less strong than her lil bro). Arven too. Can safely say the Player has rizz. Arven, Carmine, and Kieran all have a thing for them. I say Arven because he blantantly gets jealous over Kieran interacting with them and admits to being as such, so I wouldn't be surprised if Drayton did like them too. Also, the reason Lacey gets annoyed with Crispin's attempts to ask her out is because he actually never finishes. He always chickens out. She even says so.
I would even argue that that Nemona and Penny also low key has a crush on the player. Nemona is a little less bit of you go through the side quest with penny after the ace tournament she will bring the player to her room and Peny mentions how special the player is to her and stuff. Could be interpreted as just friendship, but to me there was some tension. I mean, even drayton seems interested in the player in some way.
I’m another one for Kieran and our character. Even just seeing the way he looks at mc, especially in the epilogue… he’s got that sweet, slightly embarrassed smile, and he gazes at them for a while… poor lad has it bad for mc! Let alone the fact he’s pretty much spending Indigo Disk either trying to best us or impress us, and even admits he wants to be like us. I feel he doesn’t want to be *like* us, he wants to be *with* us. And admittedly as a Kieran fan, I’m all for it!
If anything I think Carmine acts more like someone that USED to date Drayton but they broke up. That's why they know each other well but Carmine still acts aggressive toward Drayton, who wouldn't after a break up. Also explains the irrational distrust of Drayton, aside from him being distrusted by generally everyone in Blueberry Academy. • I think the real thing that you should've mentioned is that Lacey seems to feel some type a way for Drayton. When you beat her, He talks about she acts kind and stuff with everyone except him. That she acts differently toward him than she does with the other characters. • If you think either of that is looking too far into it, mind you the same could be said of Carmine being into Drayton when there isn't any real proof beyond looking far into it. I'm fine with either being true, but I think it fits better for her to simply distrust him for whatever reason.
I'm personally more in the camp of shipping Carmine and Amarys. Carmine treats pretty much everyone with aggression, and maybe not as much the protag. But Carmine has no aggression at all for Amarys, and I feel like it's not indifference but they actually get along with each other. Even Drayton comments on the fact that they get along and understand each other strangely well. Anyway, for me the deal was sealed when I learned that Carmine actually taught Amarys how to do heart hands. If that's not proof then I don't know what is. As for Drayton and Lacey, I personally don't see anything at all. I honestly see it as a metaphor to how Fairies bully Dragons. So the Fairy type trainer is gonna be overly admonishing to the Dragon type trainer. The all powerful dragons being bullied by the fairy kinda vibe and dynamic in my opinion

If anything it looks more like Carmine knows that Amarys likes Kieran whether Amarys herself knows it or not. Drayton most likely mentions the fact that they get along well because both of them seem to not have a lot of friends. Amarys for being seemingly cold on the outside, and Carmine because she grows really attached to the player character in the Teal Mask. So much that she felt very sad when she had to leave, that it could be implied she didn't have many friends because of that. • You also gotta remember that she only ever acts aggressive with like 3 people, Kieran, Drayton, and us. The common factor, probably because she's more casual with those 3 characters. She's only aggressive to us in the beginning because she didn't like the idea of there being "intruders" in Kitakami in the first place. So if she met us elsewhere, she might not have been as rude. Amarys on the other hand is a generally formal person, while she does call Carmine a "dear" friend, Carmine just calls her a classmate. • As for the pose thing, I don't really think it mounts to anything. Tulip the Psychic Gym Leader was revealed to have taught Kofu the Water Gym Leader the pose we did after beating him the first time. It doesn't really mean anything, just something cool to learn about the interconnectivity. • And yea that point about Drayton and Lacey was a loose one, I just brought it up because it seemed more likely than Carmine having a thing for Drayton. But I don't think Lacey not being nice to Drayton is a parallel to Fairies stomping on Dragons but just that Drayton is so untrustworthy that not even Lacey, who generally is kind to everyone, can trust him. • They haven't really said anything regarding Carmine or Drayton, so I think it's fine to keep them without a "pairing". The only real pairings that have been confirmed are Amarys liking Kieran, and Crispin liking Lacey.
I think carmine isn’t into Drayton but instead harbors feelings for the male protagonist. In Kitakami/teal mask she almost confessed her love to the player. I think it was suppose to be a summer romance. Also Carmine entrust is to help her little brother. If she liked Drayton then why didn’t she have him help her family. It’s almost like coming over to meet her family for Christmas or something. She entrust us the player to save her family. Now that’s deep.

Even at the end of the Indigo Disk, I don't think Kieran has feelings for Amarys. She seems to be Carmine's age and probably hangs out with her more then him. I honestly think Kieran gets feelings for the Protagonist, thus why he gets all nervous at the end when asking if you guys could start over.
Amarys definetly feels like it's one way. Kieran has an obvious infatuation with the player. Can easily imply him blushing in numerous scenes. And honestly that's a power house couple. Those two would dominate a major Doubles league
Kieren was obvious from the start it was like he was star struck from the very beginning, Carmine only had feelings later after the end, or hid it better than kieren and she even teases him about it during the Teal mask we even had a date at the festival and Carmine was very supportive of it

It’s quite fitting for some of this DLC’s characters to have romantic interests, since it’s in Unova, and Black 2 & White 2 had a side quest that was basically a romance subplot with the protagonist and either Yancy or Curtis (depending on your gender).

I'm still saddened we never just hug him. After he has his little breakdown and cry after Terapagos. Or when you get back and admit to staying with him. Would have been cute but maybe too on the nose?
With the release of the epilogue this is even further supported with him trading the mc an Applin in the League Club, which is said to be a gesture of romantic affection.
pc X Kieran is the cutest cannon thing ever in the pokemon games. I know a few characters in the game seem to crush on Kieran but Kieran definetly is into pc. no offense to Amarys but I think if she was the one that beat Kieran, she'd have made things worse.
I often make the joke that whenever Kieran and the rest of the elite four walk into the cafeteria, I find myself sitting there crying with laughter. It feels like a scene straight out of the movie 'Mean Girls'. I then wonder if I should even be sitting at their table.
I don't really feel much coming from drayton and carmine, they do give off the comedic duo banter vibes for me. Definitely feel something between lacey and drayton. Krispin is very obvious with his crush. amarys definitely has something for kieran. it'd be quite the funny if its something like this kieran
I think Kiki is into Juliana because of the way he acted in Kitakami and he tries to act cool and emo to hide it in the Indigo Disk and Juliana may be into him with the amount of concern she shows towards him
Also on a replay, I noticed that the smile MC has for Kieran when Drayton says “Oh Kieran, look who’s here with me” is kind of… extreme… for someone who only sees Kieran as a *friend*! Makes me laugh! MC is definitely into Kieran too.
I mean, not just Juliana. Kieran acts the exact same way even if you play as the boy mc/Florian. It’s actually pretty cool, as that type of stuff was often locked behind a specific gender. But now, a lot of characters can be seen as bi sexual due to the fact they seem attracted to the player with any gender.
There is a dialogue option after Lacey’s battle where you can call her cute. Naturally, I picked it. She rejects your advances if you do so, and considering Lacey rejects other people’s advances, this might be a common thing for her.
Honestly Nemona seems more 'battle sexual' She likes you with battling and being a friend. Very Goku esc. Arven though. Yea he seems to have something going Glad they just admitted everyone's in a massive ship ball and the PC is wanted by all.

To add to Amarys crush on Kieran, when she asks you what Kieran is to you, if you pick rival, she says something about you having acknowledged him from before, and then she says "How annoying". I didn't understand why that was annoying. Now I know.

Yeah this is something my friend and I were talking about before. Its clear Crispin likes Lacey but either he hasn't said it properly or Lacey has turned him down. I get the feeling its more that he hasn't spoken his feelings honestly yet, otherwise there's really no reason for him to try and guess to see if Lacy is seeking other guys. He wants to know if he has a shot but each time he's about to take it, he slips up because he's still a nervous teen. I *QUICKLY* realized Amarys had a romantic interest in Kieran and outside of Carmine, he's the only one she really speaks about and shows constant worry over. She doesn't know how to show her feelings and it ironically mixes well in a very funny way with someone like Kieran who desperately wants someone to notice him and care about him... and the only one who does is the one who doesn't know how to show she cares lol. I freaking love it. She's already best friends with Carmine so I'm totally down with the idea of those two eventually getting together.... tho I imagine with those two, without an outside push, it wouldn't happen til their mid 30's given their personalities. The one I least agree with is Carmine and Drayton. The reason being, I get the feeling Drayton is just the hot guy who kinda gets on the girl's nerves, but its also what draws them in. He's too busy doing his own thing to care about girls but both Carmine and Lacey show they know Drayton on a personal level as friends, yet both have nothing but awful things to say about him. Even Crispin outright tells Drayton he acts like a "bad guy" to get what he wants so its clear with Drayton, he just naturally rubs everyone the wrong way but with the girls, he's the annoying guy that's carefree and hot, so the inner conflict is always there for the ladies lol. I really get the impression that Carmine is more into the protagonist than anything else. Several characters take note of this outright that she's got a strong attachment to him, and with the "Date" situation, it seemed more that she was annoyed that Drayton was taking a personal interest in you, not that she secretly wanted Drayton's attention for herself. Many people from Lacey to Carmine and later Crispin and Kieran take note that Drayton is just being shrewd about his interest in the player (Later proven to be true) and that he has a pattern and habit for this type of thing that bothers everyone around him. So out of the pairings, I agree with all but CarminexDrayton.
"I hate you but I love you." Textbook tsundere. Carmine is written as a tsundere character, I think. During the festival part of Teal Mask the game confirms it during the episode where Carmine turns the house upside down but can't find a mask for your character. That's probably why the underside of her hair is red. Characters with "fiery" personality traits tend to have red(-ish) hair (think Crispin and Gen. 1 anime Misty). I think Carmine just acts that way towards people she cares about deeply. The game confirms Team Star Ortega as yet another tsundere character.
I think that Lacey is oblivious to Crispin liking her (he probably tried and chickened out a ton of times, that's why she said that "this again?"), and to how close she is to Drayton, basically being hard on him since she knows he can do better if he stops being lazy (wants him to be his better self you know?) And about Carmine and Drayton, I don't doubt the possibility of them being exes or something like it, but I think that it's more of a "ohhh she probably likes the MC considering how much she continues to talk about them... I'll use that... After all, he is the type that "uses" the weaknesses of others against them when it's useful or interesting enough (like he did with Kieran) Amarys is just a complete Kuudere tho, still needs to notice that she likes Kieran (and yeah, their dates would most probably be just them, somewhere, holding hands in silence not knowing what to talk about)
The thing is about the drayton and carmine thing is that carmine has dialogue in the game where she tries to tell the MC something but she gets cut off. I think thats something 😮

I think Drayton was more intrigued by the MC, especially considering how the player was a major factor in Kieran’s transformation. Then again… they all were interested, and I really believe Lacey and Amarys were against the player joining the BB League because they felt the player was at fault for Kieran becoming the way he was. After all, the player was the only one Kieran lost to at that point.
I think poor amarys is one sided love.... I believe kieran might have a crush on the player. He is so different when hes around us. We even pushed him to this insane level of wanting to be strong like us. Maybe to impress us as well?

She's also trashing Drayton, because she wants you to only like her and no one else. I think the BB League is full of unrequited love/crushes. Crispin likes Lacey, as you said. Lacey mentions that she thinks Kieran looks cute with his hair up. Amarys also might like Kieran, as you pointed out. Carmine definitely has a crush on Drayton. But I really do believe Drayton is flirting on the player character, whether they are a boy or a girl. We love a bisexual disaster icon! Lol. He offers to take us out on a date, and when he gives us the Catching Charm, he says it’s “from one charming catch to another”. Come on, that’s totally flirting. And Kieran’s total obsession with the player character is really intense. Not sure if it’s love exactly, or just admiration, envy, the potential influence of a certain fruit mythical Pokémon that we may see in the DLC Part 3 Epilogue on January 11th, but whatever it is, I really hope he works through it and based on the ending of the second part of the DLC, I’m optimistic he will. So the League is kinda all over the place with people like someone, but rarely are 2 people both crushing on each other.

I feel like Drayton might have a crush on Kieran too. He mentions how he liked him more when his hair was down, also the constant teasing and bickering with him and despite that, Drayton clearly cares about Kieran. Enough to put up this scheme for us to bring him down because he couldn't do it himself, trying and losing multiple times. Drayton just comes off as a guy who can't stop teasing the person he likes and he teases Kieran even more than he does Carmine.
Drayton to me seems more caring that loving to Kieran. Like he wants him to be better but can't do it. He seems to discern the player and Kieran have something going and uses that to get under his skin. But despite all that he never makes any pushes to Kieran. He strikes me more like Carmine. Being more an older Brother figure. I'd imagine if Kieran was being bullied he'd step in. For instance if verbally like teasing. We all know what giving a person an Applin means.

Definitely! Which makes Amarys' case kinda sad, because putting aside if they would even mesh well as a couple, she wants to be to him what the player IS to him. It's kinda doomed to be one-sided. Given we probably get more interactions with Kieran and Carmine after the Epilogue and the Applin thing is there, I'm assuming it's gonna become more clear there. And I do wonder if we get to see Amarys and him interact and/or see her react to you guys' relationship.
Love the fact that this is the game they choose to put romantic interest between some characters in, since it's the one with the most emphasis on relationships. And with the league club members all being teens, there's just bound to be some romantic tension here and there, even if nothing ever comes out of it.
Basically everyone thinks the MC is super kewl, so it just makes sense that there's gonna be some character thrown into the mix who'd straight up crush on them

At the end of Teal Mask, Carmine starts to try to say “it’s kinda embarrassing, but I actually-“ that gets interrupted by Briar’s phone call, and throughout that part of the story she keeps blatantly elevating herself as “pretty,” like when she says she expects the player to be so distracted by her as to lose battles, or when you find Fezandipiti and she compares herself to it. She doesn’t really direct these comments at anyone else, so when Drayten asks you on the lunchroom date and she freaks out, I thought it was because she was jealous of him and not the player.

I think the real thing that you should've mentioned is that Lacey seems to feel some type a way for Drayton. When you beat her, He talks about she acts kind and stuff with everyone except him. That she acts differently toward him than she does with the other characters.

If you think either of that is looking too far into it, mind you the same could be said of Carmine being into Drayton when there isn't any real proof beyond looking far into it. I'm fine with either being true, but I think it fits better for her to simply distrust him for whatever reason.
I'm personally more in the camp of shipping Carmine and Amarys. Carmine treats pretty much everyone with aggression, and maybe not as much the protag. But Carmine has no aggression at all for Amarys, and I feel like it's not indifference but they actually get along with each other. As for Drayton and Lacey, I personally don't see anything at all. I honestly see it as a metaphor to how Fairies bully Dragons. So the Fairy type trainer is gonna be overly admonishing to the Dragon type trainer. The all powerful dragons being bullied by the fairy kinda vibe and dynamic in my opinion
@@jcferido Eh I don't really see it, the way she acts with other characters is of the circumstance. If anything it looks more like Carmine knows that Amarys likes Kieran whether Amarys herself knows it or not. Drayton most likely mentions the fact that they get along well because both of them seem to not have a lot of friends. Amarys for being seemingly cold on the outside, and Carmine because she grows really attached to the player character in the Teal Mask. So much that she felt very sad when she had to leave, that it could be implied she didn't have many friends because of that.

You also gotta remember that she only ever acts aggressive with like 3 people, Kieran, Drayton, and us. The common factor, probably because she's more casual with those 3 characters. She's only aggressive to us in the beginning because she didn't like the idea of there being "intruders" in Kitakami in the first place. So if she met us elsewhere, she might not have been as rude. Amarys on the other hand is a generally formal person, while she does call Carmine a "dear" friend, Carmine just calls her a classmate.

As for the pose thing, I don't really think it mounts to anything. Tulip the Psychic Gym Leader was revealed to have taught Kofu the Water Gym Leader the pose we did after beating him the first time. It doesn't really mean anything, just something cool to learn about the interconnectivity.

And yea that point about Drayton and Lacey was a loose one, I just brought it up because it seemed more likely than Carmine having a thing for Drayton. But I don't think Lacey not being nice to Drayton is a parallel to Fairies stomping on Dragons but just that Drayton is so untrustworthy that not even Lacey, who generally is kind to everyone, can trust him.

They haven't really said anything regarding Carmine or Drayton, so I think it's fine to keep them without a "pairing". The only real pairings that have been confirmed are Amarys liking Kieran, and Crispin liking Lacey.
I think carmine isn’t into Drayton but instead harbors feelings for the male protagonist. In Kitakami/teal mask she almost confessed her love to the player. I think it was suppose to be a summer romance. Also Carmine entrust is to help her little brother. If she liked Drayton then why didn’t she have him help her family. It’s almost like coming over to meet her family for Christmas or something. She entrust us the player to save her family. Now that’s deep.

It’s quite fitting for some of this DLC’s characters to have romantic interests, since it’s in Unova, and Black 2 & White 2 had a side quest that was basically a romance subplot with the protagonist and either Yancy or Curtis (depending on your gender).

With the release of the epilogue this is even further supported with him trading the mc an Applin in the League Club, which is said to be a gesture of romantic affection.

I mean, not just Juliana. Kieran acts the exact same way even if you play as the boy mc/Florian. It’s actually pretty cool, as that type of stuff was often locked behind a specific gender. But now, a lot of characters can be seen as bi sexual due to the fact they seem attracted to the player with any gender.
There is a dialogue option after Lacey’s battle where you can call her cute. Naturally, I picked it. She rejects your advances if you do so, and considering Lacey rejects other people’s advances, this might be a common thing for her.

Yeah this is something my friend and I were talking about before. Its clear Crispin likes Lacey but either he hasn't said it properly or Lacey has turned him down. I get the feeling its more that he hasn't spoken his feelings honestly yet, otherwise there's really no reason for him to try and guess to see if Lacy is seeking other guys. He wants to know if he has a shot but each time he's about to take it, he slips up because he's still a nervous teen.
I *QUICKLY* realized Amarys had a romantic interest in Kieran and outside of Carmine, he's the only one she really speaks about and shows constant worry over. She doesn't know how to show her feelings and it ironically mixes well in a very funny way with someone like Kieran who desperately wants someone to notice him and care about him... and the only one who does is the one who doesn't know how to show she cares lol. I freaking love it. She's already best friends with Carmine so I'm totally down with the idea of those two eventually getting together.... tho I imagine with those two, without an outside push, it wouldn't happen til their mid 30's given their personalities.
The one I least agree with is Carmine and Drayton. The reason being, I get the feeling Drayton is just the hot guy who kinda gets on the girl's nerves, but its also what draws them in. He's too busy doing his own thing to care about girls but both Carmine and Lacey show they know Drayton on a personal level as friends, yet both have nothing but awful things to say about him. Even Crispin outright tells Drayton he acts like a "bad guy" to get what he wants so its clear with Drayton, he just naturally rubs everyone the wrong way but with the girls, he's the annoying guy that's carefree and hot, so the inner conflict is always there for the ladies lol.
I really get the impression that Carmine is more into the protagonist than anything else. Several characters take note of this outright that she's got a strong attachment to him, and with the "Date" situation, it seemed more that she was annoyed that Drayton was taking a personal interest in you, not that she secretly wanted Drayton's attention for herself. Many people from Lacey to Carmine and later Crispin and Kieran take note that Drayton is just being shrewd about his interest in the player (Later proven to be true) and that he has a pattern and habit for this type of thing that bothers everyone around him. So out of the pairings, I agree with all but CarminexDrayton.
"I hate you but I love you." Textbook tsundere. Carmine is written as a tsundere character, I think. During the festival part of Teal Mask the game confirms it during the episode where Carmine turns the house upside down but can't find a mask for your character. That's probably why the underside of her hair is red. Characters with "fiery" personality traits tend to have red(-ish) hair (think Crispin and Gen. 1 anime Misty). I think Carmine just acts that way towards people she cares about deeply. The game confirms Team Star Ortega as yet another tsundere character.
The underside of her hair are red to represent scarlet and kieran's are purple to represent violet.

And about Carmine and Drayton, I don't doubt the possibility of them being exes or something like it, but I think that it's more of a "ohhh she probably likes the MC considering how much she continues to talk about them... I'll use that... After all, he is the type that "uses" the weaknesses of others against them when it's useful or interesting enough (like he did with Kieran)

Carmine is defensive because she actually likes YOU, the player. She even conveyed her feelings toward you at the end of Teal Mask. She's also trashing Drayton, because she wants you to only like her and no one else. Drayton also has a tendency to use people for his own amusement and goals because he's too lazy to do it himself, which Carmine was trying to warn you about.
here's my take: kieran 10000% has a crush on the player, and carmine does 100% as well. but, not throwing any hate out there to people who like her, but i personally do not like amyris or however you spell it. so the fact that i have a crush on kieran (personally) and as does amyris, with kieran liking the player, it just creates an awkward love triangle.

And Kieran’s total obsession with the player character is really intense. Not sure if it’s love exactly, or just admiration, envy, the potential influence of a certain fruit mythical Pokémon that we may see in the DLC Part 3 Epilogue on January 11th, but whatever it is, I really hope he works through it and based on the ending of the second part of the DLC, I’m optimistic he will.
So the League is kinda all over the place with people like someone, but rarely are 2 people both crushing on each other.

I never thought I'd see people in school crushing on each other.
I feel like Drayton might have a crush on Kieran too. He mentions how he liked him more when his hair was down, also the constant teasing and bickering with him and despite that, Drayton clearly cares about Kieran. Enough to put up this scheme for us to bring him down because he couldn't do it himself, trying and losing multiple times. Drayton just comes off as a guy who can't stop teasing the person he likes and he teases Kieran even more than he does Carmine.
Drayton to me seems more caring that loving to Kieran. Like he wants him to be better but can't do it. He seems to discern the player and Kieran have something going and uses that to get under his skin. But despite all that he never makes any pushes to Kieran.
He strikes me more like Carmine. Being more an older Brother figure. I'd imagine if Kieran was being bullied he'd step in. For instance if verbally like teasing. He'd come in, change topics or even make himself the target to let Kieran get out. Or if physical bullying I'd imagine him stepping in and throwing hands.

This is exactly it, hybrid makes it seem he's always trying to ask her out but you can see in the dialogue that he never does so, chickening out at the very end, and Lacey's reaction of not again is in response to him never actually telling her what he wants.

Isn't Kieran considerably Younger than Amarys? Also none of the Elite 4 are happy with what happened to Kieran, so a weird feeling is probably not exclusive to Amarys.
Kieran (in the french version) is 14 years old. I’m not sure how old Amarys is, but maybe somewhere around 15-17? If she was 15 it would make sense, but 17 & 14 is way too huge of a gap. I’m not sure really
Something I do like is that you could interpret the SV friends, Nemona, Penny, Arven, Kieran, Carmine, to all have a crush on the player, and it’s not even dependent on the gender. I really like that.
