These are nice laptops. I have the older 3200u. Have two, in fact. Bought them after seeing them featured here. Basic dual core with 8gigs of RAM. Very satisfied as they perform well. They can even do some heavy lifting with 32gigs of RAM. Just slowly. But the AMD processor is stable and dependable. The screens look very good and the design is sleek. Kudos to acer. If I needed more processing power I'd buy one of these without hesitation. And they are super easy to upgrade.
It seems the memory is soldered into the board and as you said an extra module makes a huge difference. But I'm worried about matching speeds though. I have a 2666 MHz stickfrom an older laptop and I wanna use that here. Would it be possible if the soldered memory isn't 2666MHz?
Hi, thanks for your video. Can you tell me something about the fan noise? Is it loud? I'm not a gamer, but I'm sick and tired of my HP Spectre which is about to take off like a jet fighter just by browsing the web. Great review! Question: when upgrading the RAM on the R41B, what stick was used? Did you add a 2400 mt? Will a slightly faster 2666 change the possible performance of having an identical 2400 RAM stick?

It would be strange if Acer didn't come up with the same info you did. Wasting money to put a GPU in there when they could just add ram. It is possible that the GPU helps with the external display. I don't game heavy, but I have my laptop that is hooked up to a 4k tv a lot. My current one can't run 4k video at all. I don't know if the one without the GPU would. if you plan to livestream or record games (assuming you're streaming), its better to invest in ryzen 7 but 5 is enough for minimal hard rendering and most modern games should play fine at 60fps (from what ive heard). Idk if youre gaming, but i hope this helps in getting a rough idea
Wow! It's a good thing that Acer has left one empty RAM slot! Could you kindly inform whether the dedicated VRAM can be adjusted on UEFI? Thanks before time! 🙏
I had Acer before, hated it until I installed an SSD. But at the end of the day you paying money, you should be forced to update it. People need to understand that all windows laptops that are below $700 are straight garbage, the only exception is if you can find a good sale around holidays. Dell XPS is amazing, there are many great laptops but they usually cost like 1k.
It depends on the game i think. In gta5 an hdd will load the map slower than an ssd and therefore you might/maybe get some slight fps drops or stutters, untill that part of the map is fully loaded from the harddisk. I had that problem with my 1tb hdd+8gb ram desktop and it was fixed when i got an ssd + 8gb more ram. I never figured out if the extra 8gb ram would have been enough alone, the game was running at 90% ram use, so that might have caused it to stutter and not the hdd i used back then. What im saying is, i think the "non gpu" version will be good, as long as the ram isn't being maxed out in games.. 90% ram use is simply too much if the pc is being pushed beyound the 90%, because it has to load the next part of the map while already running at 90%. Keep that in mind if you wanna play big open world games like gta5 etc etc.. games like call of duty will run better because most of the map is fully loaded already ...
the dedicated gpu one should perform about the same but the one without the gpu will have much less gpu performance. it might have slightly less battery life aswell.
This is a very helpful review indeed, particularly the information about the RAM, as I am looking for 16 GB anyway.

if you plan to livestream or record games (assuming you're streaming), its better to invest in ryzen 7 but 5 is enough for minimal hard rendering and most modern games should play fine at 60fps (from what ive heard). Idk if youre gaming, but i hope this helps in getting a rough idea
Great Invention man! ♥
Hellow, how upgrade vram in video at 2GB?
Can tell me what kind of camera have? Is it HD or? Is it bad, good or great? Tnx
720p camera, not so great but ok for zoom
Will you do Lenovo Thinpad E15 core i7 10th gen single channel one ?
Is it good for autocad?
BUT... what about the GPU model WITH a 8gb ddr4 ram upgrade? how would that do?
Won’t do any better
Great review...thanks
hey i have a question. is tue laptop completely aluminium ?
The part behind the screen is in alluminium, the rest of the pc is in plastic
What's the RAM frequency? Is it LPDDR or DDR?
It’s ddr4 and I’m also questioning the frequency
2666
Its DDR4, and the frecuency is fixed at 2400 mhz. You can but a 2666 like I did, but it will work at 2400 mhz.
Does any ram chip will give you dual channel or you need an specific brand with the 2666 mhz?
@@Abrahamrengifo any brand should work fine. I used Crucial, but Kingston is OK, or Corsair.
does this laptop only have 1 ram slot?
What does "passable" battery life mean?
This laptop Vs dell Inspiron 5 15 amd 4500u ??
for $50 more there was a dell inspiron 14 2-in-1 in best buy that doesn't look that cheap but with same specs and a touch screen
link? all I could find was a years old Inspiron on best buy's website
@@htpchtpc4140 sadly it's $700 now www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-inspiron-14-7000-2-in-1-14-touch-screen-laptop-amd-ryzen-5-8gb-memory-256gb-ssd-sandstorm/6409061.p?skuId=6409061
Will any brand (any IC chip) 8GB memory module make it dual channel? Or does it have to specific memory?
What kind of watch do you have on?
Does the rx640 version also have vega 6 ?
Great review, thanks. No fingerprint recognition?
wow massive improvement from the last one on the gaming side I am only getting 30fps
Hi i really love what you do but can you review the lenovo AIO 3 and tell us how to change the HDMI❤
Wow! It's a good thing that Acer has left one empty RAM slot! Could you kindly inform whether the dedicated VRAM can be adjusted on UEFI? Thanks before time! 🙏
I bought the ryzen 7 4700u version, it s a gift for my mother, but i ll check it out and let you know after she opens it.
I've checked the UEFI and didn't find any option to increase the VRAM, sorry! (Or I might be a bit bad at finding it)
I had Acer before, hated it until I installed an SSD.
But at the end of the day you paying money, you should be forced to update it. People need to understand that all windows laptops that are below $700 are straight garbage, the only exception is if you can find a good sale around holidays.
Dell XPS is amazing, there are many great laptops but they usually cost like 1k.
Would the non GPU version still be better if i installed games on hdd?
Can the integrated model be upgraded to wifi 6?
Got this laptop for $450, this thing is fast! Now waiting for the ram stick to arrive to upgrade it.
Hey can someone help with upgrading the RAM and adding a dual channel system, much appreciated 😊
I'd be interested in what mhz the DDR4 already included in this is (mine's arriving tomorrow)

Thanks for great review, and checking how linux run on this machine
I've just bought it. I also use linux as a daily distro. Can you share your experience?
What about the i5 version does it perform the same?
the dedicated gpu one should perform about the same but the one without the gpu will have much less gpu performance.
it might have slightly less battery life aswell.
Can you add a 3200mhz stick?
I really don't get why they had chosen the Polaris RX 640, it makes no sense at all.
What are some better laptops at this price point? I hate how bendy this one is. You can't open it with one hand.
Need suggestion to upgrade the RAM section along with onboard 8GB RAM.
me too its so confusing because you need each chip to be the same size right?
Would this laptop be okay to work on a 4k display?
My question too. It doesn't look like he answers questions, but I will try as well.
@@IThinkICare I'm curious to know how many displays this can connect to as well as their resolutions
@@njareer I even turn off my laptop screen when connected to TV because the resolutions are different.
Lon, thank you for the advice, is there a way to turn off auto dim feature?
