  • Hello sailors and greetings from the Sound of Mull. After losing our anchor we returned to Tobermory and walked to Aros park. The following day we sailed back to Oban enjoying fast winds and a bit of heel. Oh, and the Great Fish and Chip Hunt 2023 continues.

From a fellow sailor and fellow Geordie I'm loving following this adventure.
A bit of advice on the anchor issue, replace both rollers with rollers with a groove in the centre, this stops the chain twisting on lowering and retrieval, also when anchoring I attach a light line (8mm) to the bottom eye of the anchor, set a float at high tide depth, separate from chain then if the anchor is stuck you just pick up the float, let out some chain and use the light line to pull out the anchor backwards.
To reduce noise from the chain when anchored over night use a snubber, just carribener a length of line to your chain about a metre below water line and let off a metre of slack chain.
Keep up the good work and I might meet you when you get hyem.

Thanks so much for the kind words and the practical advice Steve! I was looking at the rollers you mention, but was still trying to find out what the advantage is, so thanks again for that!
The videos are a bit behind reality and we recently got back to North Shields, so if you fancy a hello (and a beer!) let us know!

You will have moved on now, but there is a garage just past the car park in TB, bet they have a press to straighten the roller bar.

Good idea! We did manage to get some gas from them, but never thought about them having something like that!
