So here’s my take on the stuck axle issue based on fairly extensive mechanical knowledge and experience. What you are experiencing is galling. When two dissimilar metals come in close contact, galling can occur. Galling is essentially the two metals sticking together, being bonded on a molecular level. Some metals are more prone to this than others (like titanium). A steel axle threaded into aluminum is always going to try to gall, but as we all know most of the time it doesn’t. That is thanks to the way the hole/threads terminate where the end of the axle is. My hypothesis is that the way YYF is machining these yo-yos leaves the hole ripe for galling when the axle is threaded in. You can test my hypothesis if you want to, T. Pull your axle out, and on the last little bit of thread (and on the very tip of the axle) take a #2 pencil and color all over it - then thread it back in. The graphite in the pencil lead acts as a lubricant and barrier, preventing galling.
Honestly man, I find it awesome when a reviewer doesn't consistently praise all the yoyos they get and brings out their own opinion. It makes the reviews more genuine and that's why you're one of the few yoyo review channels I'm subscribed to. Keep up the good work man!
Absolutely! Me too! The more I watch reviews...the more annoyed I'm becoming with how some of the reviewers do nothing but gush on and on about how amazing the yos are. That's great and all...but it just starts to feel less and less genuine to me. Doesn't help that most of the yos they review are given to them for reviews.
Right? That bugs me. I was given some as well, but always told the companies “I may not say anything nice about your thing, I’m not a business” and several companies have turned me down
You can say “unbiased, honest review” but it doesn’t mean anything if you got it from a friend who runs a company or asked for it like some channels do

Im looking for that critical reviewer aspect rather than just some happy go lucky guy who is basically just making a glorified advertisement. I may not always agree with your assessments, but more often than not I can see your angle. Keep doing what you do, we appreciate it!
Hey T. Thankful for the honesty in your Review. I was just given a Shutter and I still am not impressed. Its decent but doesn't WOW me like I want it to. I'm partial to the Wide Angle but the OG is hella boring to me. Thxx again and I'm glad you found a way to keep doing videos w/o getting burned out! You do you Boss.
I have a few of these. One that is just like yours, except blue. And 2 galaxy ones. The blue one like your green one has some very noticeable vibe. The 2 galaxy ones are super smooth. Wonder if the polishing has something to do with vibe.
I'm in agreement about yyf qc. My better playing yyf are usually the €40 ones. Any premium throws that I've got I usually have an axel or vibe issues with them. Great review 👍
I've honestly been very disappointed with YYF as of late. Back when the original shutter came out, it made sense that it felt cheap because it was definitely a budget yoyo for the time, but now that manufacturing has become less expensive, you'd either expect their prices to drop or for the quality to increase. I feel as though YYF definitely relies on name recognition a lot as well. The shutter wide angle will sell well because it's a shutter. Same with something like the neogenesis or the GenX's, which just reference a popular older yoyo (similar to how they sold the bimetal superstar). I find the marketing for the bimetal styling shutter especially manipulative, but that's an entirely separate argument.
Hate to be a bother again, but I would really like to hear another Tokyo-yo nights video. I feel that it was really great content and NEED to have more!

Yeah same thing happened with my Nd ultra the bearing was stuck and I didn’t know I was playing for ever got really vibey and when went to adjust the bearing was so stuck I broke it on way out....yyf is so good and so bad simeltsneously...poor qc for sure
EXACT same thing happened to me with the ultra! Bearing and axle were borked. Switched em both out and now purrs. Their QC is pretty embarrassing sometimes

TheRealViscera this yoyo is equvilant to trying a dark magic 2. An amazing yoyo for its time but only just good today.

My Wide angle is a Bgrade and is dead smooth. I think you drew the short straw on this one.
