Updated Shutter Wide Angle for 2017 is wider and lighter to fit the current yoyo trick meta and be more in line with what yoyos are currently being used in yoyo competitions. Gentry Stein has used this at both the 2017 World Yoyo Contest and the 2017 US National Yoyo Contest. Its meant for insane yoyo tricks.

That's the best colorway. It looks iridescent on camera. I wasn't a fan of the OG Shutter. But The Wide Angle gets me excited...also, my Katana just came in the mail!!! I was secretly nursing a grudge against you for letting me throw yours. Hehe! I am so happy with mine.

More material equals more cost. They have to use a wider blank to get a wider yoyo. Hope this helps in understanding the price difference.

I have a shutter, it's great. At first 67.5g sounds kind of heavy, but it played pretty light itself. Really stable yoyo. But I'd hope a lighter version. Aaannnd... Here comes Wide Angle! Yay! Let's collect some money to get this one.
I generally don't like wide yoyos because it is hard to do rejections with but the Shutter wasn't that good at rejections to start off with so I prefer the wide angle. dat eXtra flow really gives the wide angle a comfy feel on the string
Wide angle never really caught my eye. Havent tried an og shutter either but what you said of light and long spinning reminded me of the banshee. Might have to give it a shot

Ok I just got a w/a a few days ago and I've had my windrunner for a few months and you can call me crazy but besides maybe spin time I like my windrunner better. It has a smoother finish, it binds A LOT nicer it's just as powerful I like the cup better and I think I like the way it feels in my hand more too. And it's cheaper. I can't wait to get a 7068 version of the windrunner according to Dylan's review it's even that much better than the original. What Is your "Honest" opinion? Anyone else thrown both?

Manan daboss I learn new tricks all the time, I just don't do them in videos until they are smooth
shu-t, now i'm going to have to get one. as you already know, i'm already quite happy with the OG (a guilty pleasure.) I agree with you on the original finish, I like it much better than the matte finish. My first shutter was the yotricks blue/silver in the original, shinier finish, and my second one has the matte blast, and although the new one is dead smooth and pretty, I much prefer my beat to hell OG yotricks edition shutter - i still play it all the time! Oh, and I have a shu-ta2 coming in solid black - poopy matte finish though ;)
I like the matte finish a lot, but the shiny one just looks so good. I do think the powdery blasted ones produce smoother yoyos, though. Its a tossup. Variety is the spice of life, though. Best to just have both.

4.55 mm gap isn't that big, Nightmare has a 5 mm gap and it works alright.
Its kinda big - The nightmare is kinda slippy, too.

Devae Jones you need neutral string tension. Also use one fluid motion, it'll help keep the loop open.

I thought about something when you were talking about the pads. I've noticed that yyf has a bunch of "different types" of pads on YYE in the past which are denoted by the colour. I've had yoyos with some of each type stocked in em but I've never really noticed a difference in play. Which is why when you said "This one has the blue pads to match the body." I thought that maybe they're all just the same pad but different colours to better match with the yoyos themselves. Thoughts? Can someone confirm or deny my suspicion?
They aren't. Some are grippier than others. Red is grippiest, white is slippiest.
If you look on the yyf site, there's a description regarding performance for each color of response pad. I've found that the white pads are a bit slippy, but last moderately long. The blue pads have more grip but wear out a little faster than white. Tan are super grippy throughout their life and last the longest. Red has the perfect amount of grippiness (like they're perfectly broken in from the get-go,) but they wear out the fastest. Hope this helps a little :)
Jeremy Park I think red is made for competition, because they break in in a couple of minutes.
How would you compare it to the TC Capuccino?
Edit: yyf white and natural pads sucks ass, blue, red and teal totally kick ass tho.
Not as good as the Cappuccino. Cappuccino is on a different level of awesome.
Gotta disagree on the natural pads. I think they're great. Red pads are cool but wear out way too fast (although that's what they're supposed to do, nothing wrong with it, they just wear out too fast for my taste).

That's up to you, your normal shutter isn't going to fetch what this costs new. So probably not.
