    Whenever I see comments like "You're not supposed to interfere with nature", I always laugh after I see videos like this...the fact is we're interfering all the time...which is a GOOD thing 😌

      Some people don’t understand the level of professionalism these scientists have, they are not just doing this out of curiosity, but also to help develop new ways to protect these speciesism

      - There's a difference between interfering && helping. A *huge* difference in fact!

    It´s so cool they have such a wide migratory range. Such a sturdy and slow animal, being one of the widest travelers, seeing the whole world. Really has a fairytale or fable- vibe to it!

      According to Wikipedia, that population might be extinct. They haven't seen any new nests for years (but of course, not necessarily a reliable source). Good news is that Leatherbacks frequently cross entire oceans each year, so they may return.

    - I always buy "save sea turtle" bracelets to donate to companies. I hope that money *does actually* go to helping them. I mean, it must when you see how many places are trying.. right?

      Perhaps they couldn't perform it safely, or do it if a turtle has a certain amount of them. Barnacles don't benefit the turtle.

    it would be best to walk instead of riding the tractor over the sand while you're looking for sea turtle nests to avoid stepping on as many sea turtle eggs as possible

    Imagine if all these science geniuses were doing something to help *humans*

    • @jeffbenton6183
      @jeffbenton6183 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They are. Leatherbacks keep jellyfish populations under control. Right now, jellyfish numbers are exploding, getting stuck in our boat propellers and otherwise making a nuisance of themselves. I'm not saying that all conservation efforts that help humans in some way, but there are cases ones which do (such as leatherbacks and beavers)

    • @jericoba
      @jericoba 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are plenty of resources that help humans, but not as many aiding the conservation of endangered sea turtles. Just because an effort is made in one place, does not mean it's not made in another elsewhere. We can do both, and we are.
