The best theory is one about the gang (most specifically Shaggy) being of an era where kids had stuff like acid, pot, shrooms, etc. more easily accessible. In said theory, Scoob's and Scrappy can talk because of the gang tripping hard on their drugs (or drug of choice). I mean, Shaggy is most certainly a hippie and talks the most with Scoob's... being his owner and what-not. Shagg's would also end up being the supplier for the rest of the gang under this theory. Sheds a whole new light on "The Mystery Machine." Imagine, if you will, Shaggy selling said drugs via this old VW van. When the buyers show up Shag's greets them with "Like, yeah man, I got everything you could like, need dude." At this point he would guide them into the shag carpeted van, smoke billowing out of the sliding door, paraphernalia set out accordingly via type. Maybe even a peacepipe or hookah somewhere amongst the trippy space, Scoob's would be lounging about the shag carpet, of course giggling to Shaggy, a trip the customer's fail to comprehend and go on their way after purchasing their goods.

That is one good crazy theory. But like you said, it's not a real true theory. There is definitely a lot of shows and animated movies that has humans and animals talking to each other. I like to hear what other cartoon theories that you would like to share.

Scooby didn't actually talk. Shaggy is on copious amounts of hallucinogens. The first few seasons has Shaggy and the gang solving mysteries... Later, other dogs sounds more and more coherent (Scooby Dum and Scrappy Doo) and the Gang goes from exposing the supernatural as people committing fraud... To eventually showing true supernatural monsters and events.
I think it's because Shaggy has been losing more and more touch with reality cause of his drug use

I Posyted an almost identical theroey years ago on a post here at you tube. That Scooby doo / Dum / Dee and Yabba Doo are all related and part of an experiment, by the US army to create a dog that can communicate better. I said they arent cousins but 1/2 brothers and sister. They have the same mother, but used DNA by 2 different fathers DUm and Yabba have same father ( Hence they are grey ) and Doo and DEE have same father. after the testing it wad Dum that spoke first, but scientists thought him to dumb to be of worth, they Yabba started to communicate, and he was better but not smart enough to call the experiment a success, The reason they used Great danes was simply because they were less likely to be adopted. After that the experiment was discontinued due to animal rights protests. so the scientists ended the program and sold Dee to a hollywood actor Mio booth. to there horror she began to speak and became a star. Yabba was sent to the country and met up with Deputy Dusty, Dum was adopted by Ma and Pa Skillet. it would be Doo that spoke last but only after Shaggy and family picked him up at the local pound. Most people that have encountered them, think the dogs were a hoax and didnt take them seriously, since both Shaggy and Velma can throw their voice, and have in the show. but the scientists knew about the experiments, and wanted to use Dee who was the smartest to try to create other puppies, but Milo Booth declined. The Scientists then tried to kidnap Scooby Doo using a monster called the Dog hunter ( which was a man in a mask). HE failed but after that There was another experiment in which they did use Scooby Dee's dna and another Dog, a chuhuahua which was the only dog availble in the underfunded operation, to attempt the experiment again, as a bootleg operation, it was successful and created Scrappy ( hence the big head / little Body ) but he was too agressive and tried to attack them, to destroy the evidence after he was deemed a failure, although he was smarter than any of the other dogs, he was thrown from a train and luckily found by the Scooby gang. So you theroey is very similar to a made up Idea i wrote about at least 3 / 4 years ago, and that post is somwhere here on you tube to prove it, but its hard to somtimes find even my own old posts without a search
