@as-cf7rx in a way you are both right I think, if you listen to his JRE podcast he explains that when he was sitting with the executives due to comments he made on his personal podcasts the executives were going to not give him the job that they had openly publicized and advertised they were going to give him, due to pressure from “internet trolls” or “the woke mob” whatever term you want they felt due to external pressure from “racist” remarks he had made that they would placate the internet masses and not further work with him over the comments and such.
I love the fact that shane got to make agreeable level gay jokes on snl and it worked nicely enough to make me laugh for the first time in last several snl episodes

So him coming back to host, and put on a better show than they're used to, highlighted a few things. Shane has his own sketch show called 'Gilly and Keeves', which also does a better job, like Key & Peel. But you also have sketch shows like 'I Think You Should Leave' that's very different, so it all comes down to funny is funny. If you have non-American comedy sketch shows to recommend, I'm always open to expanding my horizons.
