Thanks for uploading these videos of the NYCT's . It shows how connected our city really is to each other,; also brings back fond childhood memories of riding the subway for me.😃
For those complaining about the slowness of the train, the lens was in partial telephoto, compressing the scene and giving the illusion of slowness. To solve that go to the viewing speed and set to 2X.
I Love your RFW trip on the Jamaica Line, passing neighborhoods I grew up, seeing what's and what still remains, such as Blessed Sacrament Church and school at Crescent Street Station, and all the other stations in between. Fantastic video, Thank you :o)
The Archer Ave Tunnel project was quite an achievement. It tunnels under the Van Wyck expressway at a safe depth as not to undermine the roadway. That section is a bored tube not cut and cover.
Nice... Looks like they cleaned up Chambers Street a little bit... At least this platform. LION liked it when the train went to 168th Street better. That dark dingy hole is a disaster.
I hate this working this line with a passion - but I gotta give you props on a great video, and I gotta give my brother/sister operating that piece of crap 42 props - handled that garbage can beautifully! Can't wait till all those garbage cans are finally retired! I was actually off from work on that day (had Mon/Tue off and I worked the R, M & E)
A job well done! In fact, your entire series was well done! I always wondered what the train operators saw, as they worked their way through those tunnels. Now, I know. Based on the sensations and sounds I experienced each time I rode a NYC subway train, it's worse than I imagined! While viewing your videos, questions came to mind....what recording device did you use?....how did you rig the device in the doorway?....how did you deal with rain (in the elevated portions)?....what did you use to edit your raw video?....did you need any type of "permissions" to do the job, or was it "on the fly"?....did you encounter any problems or resistance with the train crews?
Hi, i'm currently a train operator trainee on my first week of training at the school car. Are these videos done officially by mta for training purposes or you just mounted a camera somewhere on your own? Just curious...thanks
So a question from the flat cornfields of Illinois;. In the tunnels, there's general lighting, so as to be able to see where ya are (looks like florescent, for the most part). Then there's the signaling system, very obvious.... But what is the purpose or objective for the blue lights that look similarly shaped to the control signals???
The camera made the train look closer to the red than it actually was, but it was still pretty close. The only thing that really matters, however, is if the train drove past the red light, because that would have triggered the emergency brake.
Ahhh..the old Hotel Neptune! One of the best 1 star hotels in the borough. Where every room has a bed and even a sink... So you can wash your junk after sinking the pink 🌮
They have a maximum speed of 55mph, but the safety limit is 45 (I think), and around 30 is a "comfortable speed". They do go faster when going between boroughs, though.
0they used to be faster.....until a collision on the Williamsburg Bridge some years ago.....I'm a former motorman (who also used to TEACH new motormen)
This was filmed on an R32 or R42 subway car. These two cars have a passenger-accessible front window that allows for a clear view of the subway tracks.
For Lower Manhattan riders, riding all the way to Broad Street is very slow. You're better off just transferring to the A and C at Broadway Junction for a faster ride.

So you record this before my birthday, and you post this on my birthday. 🎂

The train is slow. Used to ride the Jamaica line in the 60s when most trains in the system ran much faster than today.

Yeah. The NYC subway system inspires me.
Who woulda thought?
Thanks DJ Hammers
I’m late but grateful. Awesome channel.
Nice video, as always. At least the snowstorm wasn't as bad as predicted. Keep warm!
Thanks!
From 32:31 to 32:40, perfect NYCT Conductor's announcement over the P.A. Love the St. Louis Car Co. R-42s
My favorite line. Historic in many years.
Amazing how godawful slow this run is now compared to decades ago. Good video, thanks!

I love this route!!!
Love the subways but between 2010 to 2018, timers are placed in places that make no sense, so frustrating this beautiful RR runs so so annoyingly slow
Why not show the name of the stations in the lower left hand corner. 🤔It makes it more enjoyable and knowledgeable.??🤔
Thanks. I was born, and grew up in Jamaica,Queens,New York City
+jay capp Glad you enjoyed!

Oh very cool! Have fun in schoolcar. I know a bunch of people who work there. These are just done by myself using a camera i mounted. Study hard!

The blue lights indicate where emergency telephones and third rail shutoff boxes are. Hope this helps! :D
Yes, very much so. Thanks for the information!!!!
DJ, are the E-Trains Electric or Diesel?
Is there another upload of this that tell the names of the stops?
What are those green sheds before and after the actual station?
Did this video start in the tunnel of Jamaica Center going toward Jamaica (like the relay track)?
The conductor at each stop "J to Broad"
all one needs to know
Memories of the J line.
29:45 whats the buildings on the right? whats the next station? please and thanks
Awesome video mate keep them coming love the cab view look thankyou. Any chance you can do a 3 line up to Harlem? thankyou.
Unfortunatly the 3 line does have cars with front windows.

Dj Hammers mkkp
22:28 whats the bldgs on the left? whats the next stop? please thanks
DJ can you please come to Euclid Avenue Station in Brooklyn
You have no idea how much that Norwood Av platform shakes lol
It’s a shame they removed the middle tracks.
Sure wish all of is knew the stops. At least timestamps
Cozy ride through NYC
I liked the part with the train
Hello.
Any idea what happened at the homeball at 38:02? Should the train be that close to a red?
The camera made the train look closer to the red than it actually was, but it was still pretty close. The only thing that really matters, however, is if the train drove past the red light, because that would have triggered the emergency brake.
Why did we switch tracks?

I love snow.
the signals need to be straightened out on the bridge
Seems like the trains in New York always moving slow. Do they ever go more than 30mph?

Yeah in the 90s I saw a R-32 that did 54 in the 60th st tube.
0they used to be faster.....until a collision on the Williamsburg Bridge some years ago.....I'm a former motorman (who also used to TEACH new motormen)
why are the trains in new york so slow not only when its snowing but in germany the subway trains are 2 times faster
our transit system is crumbling.... like old bread.
They're designed for blitzkrieg! Last stop Memel, East Prussia! LOL. ;-)
This train is about 50 years old.
The driver just let u in

T.
the new york subway is very slow
Glad I don't have to take this line. What a boring, SLOW, ride.
