W4 to W34: that moment when you realize your kid is louder than a speeding vintage subway train. And no, that's not a good thing.

Having small kids who really don't care if they are on a bus, a truck, or a dinosaur yelling and talking non stop took away from the experience that would have otherwise been very enjoyable to a real rail fan

No, actually, it is their PARENTS who DON'T CARE that their children are acting and speaking (and whining, crying and screeching) in a manner that could negatively affect someone else's life. To those PARENTS, 'OUR children can do NO WRONG' - and "F**K anyone who thinks otherwise". The best part is, however, that whenever LIFE starts EDUCATING these children that their behavior is NOT acceptable in public, the FIRST thing these "PARENTS" will do is take the attitude 'WHY are you treating MY CHILDREN like this?" Well, if they are YOUR CHILDREN, then they are YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to RAISE CORRECTLY within the agreed-upon/established norms of our society.

Thank you for the video, I hope you had a great experience!
Suggestions to improve: at the beginning, include a snapshot (or a few) of the train itself so we viewers can appreciate what we are riding in, otherwise it just looks like any other cab view ride. Also definitely try to stabilize the camera against the window, someone watching this can get sea sick!

A few times a year, the NYC Transit Museum runs “excursion trains”/“nostalgia rides”/“fan rides.” These are extended trips on an existing line using a vintage train. They sell out fast. Special rates apply for museum members.

An otherwise fabulous video is essentially ruined (the audio really) up until about 41:28 - about half the run time. There, at 42nd Street, at long last, those miserable kids who could have used a good smack way back at Sheepshead Bay (I also fault the parents) finally get the f**k off the train.

"Driver"? NO. At least not in the US. In the past--Motorman. Today--Train Operator. I remember the R-1-R-9 cars well. Built in the US by American Car and Foundry Co., and Pressed Steel Car Manufacturing Co. Both companies long out of business. Others no longer in business: Pullman Standard Car Manufacturng Co., St. Louis Car Co., Budd Co. No American company now in the subway and rail car manufacturing business.
