Redirecting a shark is actually one of the things my teacher touched on when i was a newbie. It's important to stay calm and not panick cos that'd only escalate the situation. We should always keep our distance with the wildlife to keep both parties safe, redirecting a shark is a last resort when they're curious and approach us. Otherwise diving is relatively safe

You hold up. You enter extreme pain. I made a decision to enter water in Maui. My decision at 16. I could make decisions.

One friend was killed while filming a documentary in Australia that never aired. He was taken by an 18 foot Tiger. The second friend was killed in Hawaii by a Bull Shark in 3.5 feet of water. The video footage of my friend's death from the Tiger revealed that he was doing the same thing with the shark that's being done in this video. The shark would come in and at the last minute, my friend guided the shark's head away with his hand. This happened three times and on the third, it took the shark less than 1.4 seconds to put my friend's head, left shoulder, left arm and 2/3 of his torso in its mouth. This was established from the dive footage. From start to finish, the shark bit my friend in half in less than 4 seconds and the shark came back looking for the rest. There's no future in this for you. Its just a matter of time. If you have people in your life who love you, please stop for their sakes.

You can’t flail in the water when retreating from sharks because it stimulates their prey drive and makes them think you’re actually prey. And if they think you are actually prey they will explosively close the distance and actually try to take a serious bite out of you. In this footage the shark is slow when going for the exploratory bites because it is actually confused and trying to figure out if she is something it should eat because her body language is communicating to it that she isn’t prey.
She made this video to show that even though she swims with the sharks, she still trains to know how to safely handle one if it approaches. She recognizes that it is still a dangerous animal. And while I can appreciate the tutorial, most people who are attacked by sharks, aren’t professional biologists or shark divers. Most don’t even see it coming. I have a cousin who's a Ichthiologist ( Studies Sharks , Ray's and other types of sea life ) and she and I were discussing this lady and her interactions with Sharks . And she said this lady seems to know what she's doing and doesn't understand that these Sharks don't care about TH-cam, subscribers or view count. And it's only a matter of time before she becomes a victim of a attack. Especially when she's in deep water focusing her attention to a individual shark. How clueless can you be, fast motion or turning her back was not the answer as it almost certainly would have led to the shark attacking her. She had to make sure that it was a safe distance away first.
The sharks are much faster than she is, especially with those flippers on. She wouldn't have had time to get up the ladder before they came back. That's why she was safer making sure they were far enough away before climbing back in the boat.

I still miss Steve Irwin 😢 and I’m not sure if he deserves to be referred to as a bad example. His death was an accident, at least that’s what I remember reading at the time. Of all the creatures he ever handled, the stingray was the least dangerous and also wouldn’t have killed him if it hadn’t stung him precisely into his heart. It was such an unlikely scenario to happen, compared to the likelihood of him getting killed by a crocodile.

You can’t flail in the water when retreating from sharks because it stimulates their prey drive and makes them think you’re actually prey.
And if they think you are actually prey they will explosively close the distance and actually try to take a serious bite out of you.
In this footage the shark is slow when going for the exploratory bites because it is actually confused and trying to figure out if she is something it should eat because her body language is communicating to it that she isn’t prey.

I have a cousin who's a Ichthiologist ( Studies Sharks , Ray's and other types of sea life ) and she and I were discussing this lady and her interactions with Sharks . And she said this lady seems to know what she's doing and doesn't understand that these Sharks don't care about TH-cam, subscribers or view count. And it's only a matter of time before she becomes a victim of a attack. Especially when she's in deep water focusing her attention to a individual shark. It's the Shark she won't see coming that's going to be the problem. And with more than 1 individual around it creates a sense of urgency to predate before the competition gets away with the prey. Shes not at a petting zoo

How clueless can you be, fast motion or turning her back was not the answer as it almost certainly would have led to the shark attacking her. She had to make sure that it was a safe distance away first.
The sharks are much faster than she is, especially with those flippers on. She wouldn't have had time to get up the ladder before they came back. That's why she was safer making sure they were far enough away before climbing back in the boat.

I still miss Steve Irwin 😢 and I’m not sure if he deserves to be referred to as a bad example. His death was an accident, at least that’s what I remember reading at the time. Of all the creatures he ever handled, the stingray was the least dangerous and also wouldn’t have killed him if it hadn’t stung him precisely into his heart. It was such an unlikely scenario to happen, compared to the likelihood of him getting killed by a crocodile.
Steve was also extremely aware of how dangerous some animals could be and was always honest about them wanting to hurt him, unlike this girl who's just like "oh look he's coming in my direction let me just gently push him away ❤️"
