    Didn't know you were over here on BAR. I took a lone break from playing/watching AoE4 and have been loving BAR. So much depth and so many options for a free game.

    My attempt at a written build order for those who want to try this out with a txt doc open.
    Rough build order:
    3 mex
    2 solars
    Bot lab
    Rez bot + 2 constructors
    Constructors get mexs, Second constructor builds 1 construction turret, starts a second and also leaves the base to grab any extra mexs
    Go up to 35 Windmills (Armada)
    When energy approaches cap, add energy storage
    Post energy storage, when energy approaches 75%, add energy converters as needed (up to 8)
    Continue building windmills
    After 35 windmills - Start T2 lab, self d commander and reclaim for metal
    Once t2 lab is finished, start T2 constructor (Do not boost t2 constructor) - Start reclaiming T2 lab
    Add 2 construction turrets
    Add metal storage
    When metal storage is finished, finish reclaiming t2 lab
    3 T2 mexs, reclaim metal storage/, basic solars.
    Add construction turret (total 5) if you have enough metal
    Fusion reactor (Start 6:38. Finish 7:42)
    1 Advanced energy converter
    Add construction turrets to total of 8 simultaneosly with starting Advanced Fusion Reactor
    Reclaim windmills for metal
    Advanced Fusion Reactor (Start 8:16. Finish 11:34)
    Final completed build inventory:
    3x T2 mexs
    3x T1 mexs
    1x AFUS
    1x FUS
    8x construction turrets
    8x Basic energy converters
    1x Advanced energy converter
    1x Rez bot
    1x T2 constructor
    2x T1 constructor

    BAR "7:41 Fission" by Drongo with 6 mex (my best: 9:09 post commander update):
    Stage 1:
    1. 3 mex 2 solar bot lab
    2. 1 rez 2 builders, assist rez
    3. start building wind, 35-40 is the ultimate target, assist second builder once wind overflows
    4. B1: 2 north mex, then wind
    5. B2: assisted nano
    6. 2nd nano blueprint (don't assist), south mex
    7. energy storage, 6 converters once wind overflows
    8. reclaim bot lab (650) with rez
    9. T2 lab, reclaim comm with rez (5-6 minutes in)
    Stage 2:
    1. + 2 nanos
    2. T2 builder (don't boost), reclaim T2 lab at the same time, keep building turbines
    3. metal storage, reclaim T2 bot lab
    4. upgrade 3 mex
    5. +1 nano, fission, reclaim metal storage
    6. reclaim solars with rez after a delay
    7. adv energy converter
    8. +3-5 nano, AFU, reclaim wind turbines, reclaim excess nano with nano if needed
    9. 3 adv energy converters + nanos
    10. anti-nuke

    They reduced comm metal from 2000 to 1250 in the commander update just after this video, in May.

    I've started a version of this where I rush the marauders, but I waste a lot of time building other units and structures along the way. I'm going to try this method while backlining and see if I can end the game quicker. The marauders are such a problem for early to mid game, especially on maps like straights that are so wide open. Mobility is really hard to defend against.

    Little devils advocate here, but if you regularly reach the point where several of your team mates are dead before you start helping, and then single-handedly beat (half) the enemy team, you're a very selfish, non team, player and you should adjust your build to be more team friendly by starting to commit earlier.
    It's not fun playing with people who position themselves in a "I'll win for the team, or it's not my fault we lost" spot, while forcing others into a "I'll hopefully hold long enough till I eventually get out eco'ed/teched in 1v2, and lose myself, and hope mister backline reacts quick enough, or its my fault the whole team lost" spot.
    Because either, your team mates barely hold on long enough for you to keep eco'ing more and more and then they start losing ground/get their army and base wrecked, finally triggering you to commit, and you get to have all the "fun" winning the game, or it's their fault for leaking too much and/or dying too quick before you were ready.
    And for them, either they themselves struggle and eventually get defeated 1v1(+1 quicker committer), and then get to sit there for 15-20 minutes watching someone else win the game for them (because if they leave the game, they won't get credit for a possible later win), or they can't hold the front alone at all, lose the whole game for the team.
    Or, in the third scenario, where they actually successfully defend and push, while you're still ecoing, then you come in at the end to "steal the kill" with a quick fast moving army you quickly pooped out because you saw your Team was starting to win and you had to do "something" quick, even though you hadn't done anything yet, because otherwise you'd be shamed with the "slept for minutes" "award".

      Whilst personally I still get some good enjoyment out of playing a "Die Hard" stubborn defence, and still consider it my win, this is a valid comment. Having a good dedicated tech player is often pretty vital in certain maps, but there's definitely a balance to how greedy to be, and when to commit. Over doing it also presents a massive game winning target for your opponents to hit if they spot you doing it, and good players will know how to exploit it.
      I had two games just recently that really demonstrated this. Both on the map in this video. In the first one, I was a backline player and went for a Dragon rush strat. Our front started getting pushed, and morale in team chat was starting to break. I definitely didn't tech up as fast as I could have, but got my first dragon out, wiped out an encroaching enemy army, and killed a com. Ally harvests the wrecks. Second dragon comes out as the first is retreating, repeat exactly the same. Another com down and ally steals the enemy army of Bulls with his rezzers. Third and fourth Dragon join the rest to crush their panic built AA efforts, another com down, and our whole team pushes forwards for the win.
      This was a slow eco noob (me) committing with the intended plan soon as possible. Worked great.
      Second game later in the day, same map. A much higher rated player is backline, I'm front. Backline player goes for the same strat, minus the "rush" part. He was WAAAAAY faster at me than Eco. Got out multiple AFUS and a forest of con turrets, vs my 1 AFUS and dozen or so con turrets. By the time he actually committed, he had built 6 or more Dragons, but simply not used them til it was getting really dicey. He flew out, smashed half the enemy team, but it was too late. One of our players had already called GG and solo resigned, and the rest of us were done. Our other backline eco player had been wrecked by raids that slipped past mid game. The enemy built a huge amount of fighters, and the Dragons got taken out due to having no safe space to retreat to and being stretched too far. We lost the game.
      I'm confident that player could have easily won the game for us had he skipped half of his eco and brought in his units sooner.

    • @AonGreyFox
      @AonGreyFox ปีที่แล้ว

      One thing I seriously don't understand for BAR is ...... why frontline asking to BUY or backline trying to SELL T2 bot? Sure, those unit is not free and need lot of time to build. But.... is not everyone try their best to contribute to win? ECO have much more time and less stress to rush as frontline do a lot of work for ya. It's just a thing that ECO can contribute to combat early and help frontline.
      It's just the way you say. BAR is very weird RTS. Frontliner seem to be just a pawn for ECO king to have a big show. May be I just don't understand.

    Arguably this build might be better for cortex, since your advanced fusion is cheaper (energy wise, also reduced overall build time), and you can pump out a twitcher to have some emergency unit production

    • @MoreDrongo
      @MoreDrongo  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I tried it with Cortex, with and without the twitcher, and it is significantly slower on the fusion, not so much on the AFUS. I do like the adaptation of adding the twitcher, definitely gives a lot more flexibility in defense.

    I'm sure you've realized this in more recent games but building even 5 rockets to help the front goes so long. Pro strats for backline non-eco players build 5 rockets before teching, they 2 shot llts and you can eat the metal with your rez afterwards while pushing/defending the front with your extra apm. idk bout you but watching things build is boring, and the alert system is great I'm almost always able to tell which units are being attacked and can quickly double tap to micro if I am busy with my eco.
    I've just found that leaks are prevalent even with early llts from the front, its best to make a few units or 1 llt covering your start in most games. Its not that you can't trust your front its more like 4 players sending scouts in different directions is unpredictable and there is a high likelihood of something reaching your base at some point before your boom starts. And surprisingly llts although do dogshit damage this way can in fact shoot up.
    PSA: unless you're playing something with a single choke like isthmus which you can still get some leaks over the sea but way less likely. def build an llt or a few units before going hard like this or you will be so made in 70% of your games wen a leak from the opposite side of the map reaches your base and kills a few mexs.

  • @eltsoldier
    @eltsoldier 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I like this a lot, although it's a bit too reliant on the best case scenario, i.e. no one attacking you while you're building all this up. Even some scouts in the wrong place at the wrong time could set you back quite a bit. A radar tower inserted in this wouldn't be a bad investment at all. You'd just have to be sure you're looking out for any openings/breakaways of enemies so you can turn your buildpower to spitting out Pawns immediately for defense.

    I think the compound interest you get from fusion 2, 3, maybe even 4 before going afus is kinda huge… have you tried playing for 4 fusions before afus?

    • @UnknownSquid
      @UnknownSquid ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm very much a rookie when it comes to speed tech/eco, but I can say I often find myself doing this. Even the possibility of compound interest aside, it very often feels like trying for an Advanced Fusion is just too greedy a gamble with too late a pay off, whilst a regular fusion feels like it's within reach and will be useful before the game turns south for you.
      I would be interested in seeing proper timed test results though, to figure out how the "compound interest" concept actually works out, and what the ideal order would be for some slightly further out end goal.

      @kenvanpassen9247 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry sir, but you are wrong. Having the ability to maintain a high apm and having an in dept understanding of all the different mechanics at play really is a big advantage. Allthough the basics of the economy ( energy and metal) are simple enough... mastering the balance of economy building, buildpower and unit production is a skill not many BAR players have. Not to mention the advanced movement and attacking options. There is soo much to learn and master. The skillcap on this game is actually quite high. If you like a challenging RTS, you will not be dissappointed by BAR ;)

    • @Nil-js4bf
      @Nil-js4bf ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kenvanpassen9247 I'll definitely give it a go once I have time. My comment was based on the Winter gameplay I've seen. It looks like it doesn't require as high APM as SC2. Which is not an attack on its depth and complexity, just saying it's a different flavor. Go is a strategy game that has no mechanical difficulty and is still incredibly deep with a high skill ceiling.
