The 8 Series Gran Coupe is my favourite-looking BMW to date, so I personally appreciate that it has been made to replace the 6 Series. I also really like the look of the new Gran Turismo, it’s characterful like the old one, but in its own way. Most importantly, it’s actually new. The old one will always be a timeless classic, but if the new one came out looking nearly identical, I won’t give it a second look, no matter how pretty it is.
The Alfa Romeo Spider/gtv was absolutely stunning and very good to drive. Shame it was forward wheel drive and not rear wheel drive. Otherwise a gorgeous car.
Yeah but... Not really Spider-ish. The type 916 could never replace the original one in my heart. Instead, I've always considered that the Spider's true heir at that moment was actually... the FIAT Barchetta.
I was very excited about the new Lamborghini countach and when I saw it I could appreciate what they were trying to do and how to carry on a lot of the design cues for it. But I truly believe that they should have and I still hope that they still in the future produce a super aero kit for it

As much as I usually agree with your opinion, I can't say the same about your opinion on the 8 series. The G15 8 series still looks very special on the outside. Especially in black it looks like something you don't wanna mess with. As from the performance point of view? It's absolutely doing the right thing. BMWs especially M cars are generally known for making a lot more power than claimed (hell, just look at the M5 CS that can almost keep up with a new 911 Turbo in a drag race). And even if the E31 came out with an M8 variant that made 700 horsepower, it still would have taken a while to take this thing off the line. That's just how high performance luxury cars worked back in the days. Power isn't everything.
Power isn't everything, but if you are bringing back the Big 8, and as a halo car not than less, then it needs to be the biggest, meanest beast in their lineup. Instead, M5 CS and XM tower above it
@@TopCarsTV Yeah, it's a weird decision considering its rival GT63 is receiving power bumps of over 800 horses. Maybe they'll get to it this year unless they decide to hybridize everything as well. Only time can really tell.
@@GJimenez94 Yes and no. If I remember correctly the E31 8 series was fully integrated in the luxury segment and only shared parts with the 7 series. The new 8 series is a weird inbetweener: not exactly 7 series luxury but better than 5 series. Also the same sporry engine unlike the 7. It would have been better if they just kept the 6 honestly.
I agree with everything listed except the Countach and M8. The Countach to me represents the best aspects of Lamborghini while standing out visually amongst the uninteresting roster of modern super and hypercars. And unlike it's siblings (Sian and SVJ) it actually looks good and doesn't give me brain hemorrhaging by just catching a fleeting glimpse. It's a faithful hommage to the original, like the 2005 Ford GT or the upcoming 3.0 CSL. As for the M8, while it might not be the most impressive BMW ever made, it's arguably the most beautiful (although the M1 Procar and M5 CS are contenders as well). While I understand that many would have wished for BMW to go all bonkers with a V12 and one trillion hp, that simply wouldn't suit the car at hand and not BMWs current image (well their image before stuff like the iX, G80 M3 or the new 7-Series lol). It's a tasteful GT with a strong powertrain that helps it to keep up with the fierce competition in form of the RS7 and GT63 as well as the Bentley Continental GT and even the Ferrari Roma. Alone the fact that the M8 competes with a Bentley and a Ferrari is definitely impressive and is in line with what you said about the first M8. Is it my favorite car? Definitely not, but it's a very competent, mature and capable car and I'm always pleased when I see one. Although funnily enough most M8s I see are Gran Coupés, I guess four doors are just better for most customers (although I would just take an M5 lol) But that aside, I agree with the rest of the list, although I didn't even know the Dodge Dart was a thing to begin with.
@@Fred_the_1996 The new Countach a well-made homage in my opinion. If you want the real deal - buy the real deal. I also like the New Miura Concept from 2006. It doesn't take anything away from these cars these special models are reffering. As I like good car design, I'd rather have one more of these cars then less. I (and also you, I guess) can never afford one of these dream cars, so it doesn't really matter. There is only a bunch of cars made from the new Countach (sold out), the new Miura is still only a concept.
I've driven the 8 Series and its predecessor (640d M Convertible and M6 Convertible). I had much more fun with the new 8 series - and that was (in my case) only a well equipped 840d M convertible. It doesn't need overwhelming power - the more you can push it. Handling was great, luxury as well. Plus: Low fuel consumption - it's a Diesel. I liked the looks of the 8 series concept car, I saw it in person. But the production car is also not bad in my opinion. The name has to be the biggest problem (I've also pointed it out), but the 8 series is the better 6 series. It has nothing really in common with the E31. Just deal with it, that were the old days when BMW just wanted to make the best car in the world.
@@Skrenja If you want modern safety and Infotainment features, more power, better reliability and so on... why the real deal? Don't get me wrong, I like old cars. But they have some disadvantage in many ways. The new Countach isn't bad looking, it just resembles the old car. That's what an homage is all about.
I think in the case of M8 , they're trying to differentiate it from the M5. M5 & M6 sounds so closer than M5 & M8. Yes everyone knows that the new 8 series is basically 6 ser with +10K price tag. btw i love the countach LPi800 i think it's probably the most beautiful looking iteration of Aventador.
I kinda like the pontiac gto '04,but the name doesn't deserve on the car. They should've made a new name for it back then. The gto have to put on hiatus for upcoming retrostyle muscle, but what are the odds of that happening?i miss the holden monaro/gto.
Car companies don't prosper by building cars that appeal to enthusiasts; they prosper by building jacked-up minivans. Porsche almost went bankrupt when they just sold sports cars. These days I can't tell one Subaru from another but sales have soared in the last ten years.
The only one i disagreed was the Alfa. I personally think it looks really good, but not as good as the concept, so i get your point. As for the rest, the biggest disapointment of the cars you showed is the Maserati Gran Turismo. It doesn't look awful ir ugly by any standard, but it's not "bite-the-back-of-your-hand" beautiful as the previous one. The lost the agression, the sex appeal, and i dare say: from most of the angles, it looks fat. It's not obese, but it's not skinny either. Those MC20 headlights simply don't fit with the front end. And i'm not even talking about the electric Folglore version. Because it's electric, it doesn't need an engine, and because it doesn't need an engine, it doesn't need a cooling system. Still, that's no reason for making the front bumper look absolutely saggy and melted.
The Countach at 10:22 is the production car which in my opinion resembles the most with Lancia Stratos Zero HF, one of the most beautiful and futuristic cars ever.
Damn, Alpha had an opportunity. Talk about pissing away your chance. They had a winning lottery ticket, consisting of numbers someone else provided. All they had to do was buy it and cash it in.
Tbh i really agree with you i also think that they could do something more special instead of making an aventador with bodykit and a different name. Also think that dart used to be pretty badass but they decided to make it a shitbox. And it's a little sad that noone didn't care about the newer gto but atleast it was a sleeper.
I HATED the revised Volkswagen Beetle when it came out. It never even started to grow on me even though they left it exactly the same a lot longer than most car companies do. Then they finally change it and it looks like what they SHOULD have made in the first place and … they stop making it after a year or two? And when was the last time they sold a camper van in the United States? They sell them in Europe (and call them the California) but not in the country that invented van life. What are they thinking?
I agree for the BMW 8 series, they should have just let the 6 series name and make an 8 series as a competitor for the Aston db11 and Maserati Granturismo... speaking of which, i agree on that as well, and same for the Dodge Dart and for the missed opportunity of a new Alfa Duetto (it would have been glorious with the 4c engine...). Regarding the Countach i think it looks gorgeous, even if the Syàn which is based on looks even more special (more "countachy" if you want), maybe it was just better to complement the name as "Countach Tributo" just to clarify that it was just a limited production model meant as a tribute of the original, instead of being a successor (which is not, that was the Diablo at the time). Hell, Bugatti even did the same thing with the Centodieci. I do not agree for the GTO, the Beetle and the Integra, The GTO was still a cool car and while being a bit blandish that was the only problem, not that it didn't look retro enough... it could have been just a little more "decise" looking to compliment it's roar while remaining modern looking. The New Beetle was a cool tribute in my opinion, it looked modern enough while remembering the idea of the original, even if in my opinion it could have been better if slighty smaller or more "coupe like" to further differentiate it from the Golf from a driving standpoint. And please stop glorifing the old Integra like a rare supercar of some sort, the Integra was super cool but it was just a slightly sportier, more upmarket version of the Civic, and that's exactly what the new model is. The Type-S version isn't even out and people keep complaining that it looks too normal (those people probably never saw the original base Integra models apparently...) or even worse, that it doesn't look like a 20+ year old model... Imho it looks exactly how a more upmarket, Acura branded version of the Civic should look like... Did you expected a monster coupe unique model kind of like a lower tier NSX that people wouldn't even buy? That's not what an Integra is. It's fine if you don't like the new looks but don't just assume that that's not how the Integra should be.
You're completely right about the Maybach one. I saw one when I was out to get groceries one time and I only realized what it was by the lettering on the back.
The new GTO wasn’t “based” on the Monaro it WAS a Monaro. The only difference is the front bumper/grill and the name. And the styling was the exact same as the Holden commodores of the time the only difference being the GTO/Monaro was a 2 door. So it never had retro styling simply because the Monaro wasn’t designed to look retro it was designed as a 2 door commodore and had the old Monaro name thrown on it. And was then shipped off over to the states as the GTO and pommy land and badged as a Vauxhall. So yeah it “failed” as a GTO because it was never intended to be one in the first place. It was a 2 door commodore whose name was a throw back to the old Monaro’s of the late 60’s and the 70’s. So yeah not the cars fault as much as it was GM’s lazily slapping the GTO name on an Aussie car.

Honestly I know the new Lamborghini countach is amazing but all it should be not exist at all because I much prefer the original then the new one that already made in the first place
The BMW. This is like the C7 and C8 Corvettes. The first one is a Drop dead sexy looking car that is a torque monster. The second one is a F-ugly mistake that is a joke to it's name and the rest of the class that is mid-engine cars of the Planet. To the Dart. It's masculinity remained. The new one did not deserve the Dart name. 3:02. What about an All-Wheel-Drive option? The Maybach. 3:46. This car is gorgeous. 4:00. This is F-ugly Arnold said it perfectly. The Alfa. The first on is an Italian work of art. The second one looks like someone named Art molested it with an Ugly stick. 5:50. This is a correct Italian design. Italian design with Miata mechanicals? DAMN! The EV whatever.(Massie) One of the reasons why people hate them so much is because of the absence of the motor and the symphony that Most Men love to hear. The new Countach. Lambo failed in this design, It doesn't look anything like the original. And there is also someone who corrected this oversight with changing just 5 things.
I actually like the 8 series even though it is more of a 6 series they probably used the name 8 series just for the marketing and the electric quatroporte is not the only electric car wich should be on this list in my opinion the electric demon it now has 4 wheel drive for performance even though it wasn’t a performance car at all and engine noises wich I think is stupid for that car because it wil never sound as good as the petrol one
While all those new Camaros, Challengers and Mustangs have all that fine and classical looks... Man, I miss those 90s to early 00s forms. All those 4th gens of Mustang, Camaro, etc. Pontiac Firebird Trans Am of 2002 is still one of my favourite cars, paired with Camaro (thanks to NFS High Stakes), Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R looks nuts, and GTO for me was quite iconic (thanks to NFS MW). They have their charm, despite they don't look as brick.
You left out the Chevrolet Impala. It went from high-performance sedan to mundane company car in 2000 that you don’t stand out in. It’s never a good sign when a majority of your car’s production (2006-13 Impala) goes to rental fleets and company car fleets.
Alfa Romeo is spelt with an “f” rather than a “p” I had the GTV in Australia both the 2 litre and V6. They were popular cars pretty much everywhere in the world except the US where they were not sold. The spider version I think looked great especially in V6 form which the original Spider never had. Sure it was front wheel drive but it was still a very nice car.
7:08 can we appreciate the irony in stype clowning on brands for naming their cars weird things in other languages but not realizing he just called a Maserati “drag racism” in Portuguese and I think Spanish as well😂😂
The thing about the countach is that when it first came out there was no other car looking like that now how many aventador are out by now how many huracan are out by now its just more of the same just with a diffrent name
A car that did get it right was the S2000. A more than fitting tribute to the Honda S cars of the 1960s. I don’t know why that popped into my head, but that would be a good start to a video of manufacturers who got it right.
tbh I like the new Integra. Well not the regular Integra but the Type S version since it looks cooler imo than the meh FL5 Type R. And with the 4-Door problem, I think the Integra looks good either with 2 or 4 doors (except for the Chinese Integra I hate that version that Integra. WTF Dongfeng-Honda) but it's your opinion so I won't fight with you.
I think the new Countach is a beautiful car with amazing performance, but it shouldn’t carry the Countach name… I’d much rather have an old Countach too, I love how impractical it is and the sound it makes and the manual transmission. Everything about the original Countach is an absolutely horrible design but that’s what’s so perfect about it.
Man I was ready to come after you idk call you names or something 🤣 but after the video. I have to agree although I do like the countach. The others I can see your point. Especially the Dart. I was waiting for a terrible list of random cars but you picked out some great one that should have stayed dead. Lol
5:50. The reason Alfa didn't make it because it would have never broken. The Countach. There is a video of someone who fixed it in Five steps, and the after pic looks Mignafique.
No, the integra shouldn’t have stayed dead. For starters, there actually was an integra sedan sold, plus a Japan-exclusive Type-R sedan. So if there was a performance sedan exclusive to Japan, then the successor should be able to do that worldwide. Besides, the new integra and old integra are both rebadged civics, so it stays in the family. And they could potentially make an integra coupe as well.
Dude, you said the next vid would be about cars with small engines, but damn this one slaps. My god does that Alfa Spider look ugly. I really like the return of the Countach, bit i do agree with what you said about it in the top 50 most expensive cars ever sold vid, about how it is a mild hybrid aventador, but I love the aventador so thats why I am fine with it.
The real 840 is a dream car, I dont like most BMWs but the 840 is stunning. The GTO shouldn't have been called a GTO, personally I love it, as the monaro or the vxr8, or the gto, its a muscle sleeper because it doesn't look like it's about to tear your face off, but it will. Great vid Stype
lets be onest in my opinion the new dart looks ugly but its a total sleeper know why? cuz it had a turbocharged engine option so that means u go zoom zoom and also that car even came a manual witch is fun also the bmw m8 in my opinion is one the sickest looking cars that bmw made at least doent have that giant grill also that car fast too and lastly the new gto even tho it didnt look retro it was super sick and fast and thank god it came from a cool holden
I was definitely expecting the Chevy Nova. Not only was its name fairly commonly misinterpreted in other languages, but after the gas crisis, the new version was basically a rebadged Corolla
How could you imply that the Volkswagen Beetle is on that list? I don’t know about you but the Volkswagen Beetle is an absolute gem to me and means a lot to me. I honestly wish Volkswagen kept it going.
Chances of 5 great designed cars that are going to be ruined in the next generation Porsche Panamera: 7/10, spy photos indicate they are going to the grille look like a whale shark, meaning it would stretch across the full front end Next Mazda 6 successor: 5/10, the CX-60 is meh to me, those lights just doesn’t look right. Based of that, there is a chance they are going to ruin the 6 or its successor Toyota Crown (sedan): 3/10, the continuation of a RWD V6 platform thrills me. Although there is a chance of a slightly worse design BMW 5 Series: 6/10: surprisingly, the 5 series seems like it isn’t going to be hideous like the rest of the Bavarian manufacturer’s lineup. I’ve seen spy photos and it doesn’t look bad. However, I would have to wait and see before I can make my final judgment Maserati Quattroporte: 9 to 10/10, Stellantis WILL discontinue all V8s so no more glorious roar. And based on Maserati’s attempted FAILED comeback with the MC20 and the GranTurismo, it’s safe to say that this car is going to get ruined too, leaving the brand to shame. I think that the current automobile industry is like the current video game industry, both are ruining their products just to make short term profit. There is a greater chance of a new car being duller or uglier that the previous generation. Also, although todays cars are more reliable than ones in the 1970s, they’re less reliable than cars from the late 90’s early 2000s due to the implementation of computers and equipment that will fail someday Edit as of 12/2023: 3 of the 5 cars I mentioned have came out since my last edit AND THEY ALL LOOK WORSE!!! Panamera went from an 8/10 to a 6/10, but does not look as bad as I thought. Crown is now a low powered I4 only. BMW 5er went from a gorgeous 8.5/10 to a 5/10. This is further proof that we need to keep our old cars as long as possible.
Bonus of my favorite brand Ferrari. New 812 successor: 2/10, I think the design would actually IMPROVE. Spy shots show a clearly disguised long hooded Roma, which is gorgeous in my opinion, Ferrari should soften its looks and replace the 812 with a true grand tourer instead of a front engined gaudy supercar.

M8 is basically a substitution of the M6 i think
@@GJimenez94 Yes and no. If I remember correctly the E31 8 series was fully integrated in the luxury segment and only shared parts with the 7 series. The new 8 series is a weird inbetweener: not exactly 7 series luxury but better than 5 series. Also the same sporry engine unlike the 7. It would have been better if they just kept the 6 honestly.
the m8 is brilliant but they should've called it m6... the name itself changes a lot the way you look at the car
Although funnily enough most M8s I see are Gran Coupés, I guess four doors are just better for most customers (although I would just take an M5 lol)
But that aside, I agree with the rest of the list, although I didn't even know the Dodge Dart was a thing to begin with.
I think the countach should have stayed dead, the original was an absolutely bonkers car, while the new one doesn't really do it justice
@@exoroxx"just buy the real deal" why even make a new, watered-down looking one then?
@@Skrenja If you want modern safety and Infotainment features, more power, better reliability and so on... why the real deal? Don't get me wrong, I like old cars. But they have some disadvantage in many ways. The new Countach isn't bad looking, it just resembles the old car. That's what an homage is all about.
I have a soft spot for the 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO I know it didn't look the best but it was a pretty good muscle car/American GT car.
Swap the front end for the original Holden one and it would've been perfection.
The Vauxhall looks the best to me.
Another car to add to this list is the Lancia Delta.... well the entire brand Lancia since 90s should stay here, but that's another story.
If Stype does a part 2, this should be in it.
Your lists are 🔥🔥🔥 keep it up 👍🏽

That Evil Within 2 snippit? 👌Muah! Chef kiss. Molto Bene.
Agreed 1000% on the Countach... we are living in lazy reboot hell. Why make something new when you can just cash in on nostalgia.

They should've put some blockier body on it and it would've been fine
@@TopCarsTV yeah,they should've.
Interesting choices, in my opinion the honda nsx should‘ve been included too
Eclipse
Trailblazer
The new Maserati looks a bit like a Karma
When you're such a stype fan you like before watching 😂😂❤️
Damn, Alpha had an opportunity. Talk about pissing away your chance.
They had a winning lottery ticket, consisting of numbers someone else provided. All they had to do was buy it and cash it in.
Tbh i really agree with you i also think that they could do something more special instead of making an aventador with bodykit and a different name. Also think that dart used to be pretty badass but they decided to make it a shitbox. And it's a little sad that noone didn't care about the newer gto but atleast it was a sleeper.
5:18: the music, the editing, the man shouting, so perfect ahahahahahah 🤣🤩👍
A 99% with you.... That Alfa from the 90's looks sooo good to be true...
Bring back the old transition
That whould be nice
You WILD for that Caitlin Joke!!!! I am in rigor mortis now.
The car wass too good for Americans

Imagine using the iconic name Dodge Charger and then turning it into a 4 door? I mean wtf why?
Giptonsilly: Should have made a 2 door version, call it a Charger, then use Coronet name for the 4 door version.
tbh I like the new Integra. Well not the regular Integra but the Type S version since it looks cooler imo than the meh FL5 Type R. And with the 4-Door problem, I think the Integra looks good either with 2 or 4 doors (except for the Chinese Integra I hate that version that Integra.
To be honest the bmw M8 right new is really good so I disagree with the m8

No, the integra shouldn’t have stayed dead. For starters, there actually was an integra sedan sold, plus a Japan-exclusive Type-R sedan. So if there was a performance sedan exclusive to Japan, then the successor should be able to do that worldwide. Besides, the new integra and old integra are both rebadged civics, so it stays in the family. And they could potentially make an integra coupe as well.

How could you imply that the Volkswagen Beetle is on that list? I don’t know about you but the Volkswagen Beetle is an absolute gem to me and means a lot to me. I honestly wish Volkswagen kept it going.
Chances of 5 great designed cars that are going to be ruined in the next generation
Porsche Panamera: 7/10, spy photos indicate they are going to the grille look like a whale shark, meaning it would stretch across the full front end
Next Mazda 6 successor: 5/10, the CX-60 is meh to me, those lights just doesn’t look right. Based of that, there is a chance they are going to ruin the 6 or its successor
Toyota Crown (sedan): 3/10, the continuation of a RWD V6 platform thrills me. Although there is a chance of a slightly worse design
BMW 5 Series: 6/10: surprisingly, the 5 series seems like it isn’t going to be hideous like the rest of the Bavarian manufacturer’s lineup. I’ve seen spy photos and it doesn’t look bad. However, I would have to wait and see before I can make my final judgment
Maserati Quattroporte: 9 to 10/10, Stellantis WILL discontinue all V8s so no more glorious roar.
Also, although todays cars are more reliable than ones in the 1970s, they’re less reliable than cars from the late 90’s early 2000s due to the implementation of computers and equipment that will fail someday
Edit as of 12/2023: 3 of the 5 cars I mentioned have came out since my last edit AND THEY ALL LOOK WORSE!!!
