I'm going to say it again, I absolutely love this channel. I love seeing the flea market and pawn shop and hardware store hunts, the unboxing of knives from people, and the knife refurbishing. Thank you Kevin for the time you put into these videos.
Well I just seen that Old Auto you showed, man your lucky, so I found one this afternoon, made an offer and got Her for 85 bucks, im so excited, Thanks for showing it, it beautiful, I can’t wait to receive mine.mine is the yellow cracked ice scales ,Imperial, 1946-1956….
I saw this video this morning. I came back tonight to comment. Awesome cool video. I think they did make those switch blades back in the '60s. They were popular in large cities like Chicago and New Your City. Thumbs up
Thank you for your excellent channel and the interesting content you provide..this is quickly becoming one of my top 3 channels on the internet , please continue doing what you do! From Andy in the U.K. (i have been looking around in thrift stores , we call them charity shops, over in England, but as yet have been unsuccessfull in finding any knives but i do see a lot of zippo lighters) many thanks
Awesome Video Doc! 😊 I just love these gift videos Kevin. They are heart felt stories of the fan. The person is showing you the appreciation and love they feel for you brother. I know you know this too. I can hear it in your voice. God is using you to bring joy to our lives brother. The small things in life go a long ways. Thanks for being you and you're touching people ALL over the world. ❤ Through God any and everything is possible! 🙏🏻 🙌 😊 God Bless 🫡 ❤️ Hurrah...
Shrades first mass produced knives in the us were switch blades, I think they called them presto. Hammer, imperial, colonial, they all made versions of it. I have one just like yours, but it’s a hammer brand by imperial, got it off eBay for $10 cuz it didn’t work, but just needed some oil and cleaning and the blade shoots right out. Ppl always think of the Italian stilettos from the 50s, but these were prob far more common in the states. Cool video man
I bought a Decora Solingen Fixed Blade in a antique mall yesterday, it has accessories in the handle, I believe it’s a fishing knife. I found one that sold online for seventy dollars, I paid ten. It says they were made in Germany in the forties, it’s missing the sheath so I might contact your friend. It has a saw, corkscrew, punch and scaler/Hook remover, it’s one cool knife. Thank You for getting me interested in knives!
They were also sold under Hammer brand name. They were sold on knife display cards and sold for $1.29 each. I saw card with all 12 knives still on it once, a collector I knew had it and a bunch of other cool 50’s stuff!
The Old Timer looks good, another good video. I learned something from the new knife manual I got from TSC yesterday, didn’t know they used dragon blood, donkey pee and urine from a red headed boy to make Damascus steel blades 😂😂😂, learn something new everyday. The bowie section is quite interesting to. Case made autos back then and they bring a lot of money now. Thanks for sharing.
Some cool knives there. I like those Remingtons. I remember the BX selling those Shrade stockmans. Had to be around $15.00. Wish I had bought a few extra. lol...
Thanks for keeping up with the great content doc!! I've got an automatic knife that they made from 1880s to 1923 its got beautiful bone handles, the automatic doesn't work anymore though lol
@@theknifedoctor Theres a lot of Old Timers in your content, so I was just wondering.😊👍🏻 Is The Old Timer The most common American pocket-knife? A Long with The Buck 110? Im a European, so I dont know. Thank you for your amazing Channel. Keep up The good work. God bless! 😊❤️👍🏻
Good videos. Watch every video. I have a knife it’s a puma I’ve used but the spring broke. I got it for Christmas 40 years ago. I would like to get in touch with you for a repair if your interested. I’m 75 and have arthritis in my hands . I would try but not able to do this work. I would also tell you I had a switch blade knife exactly like the one in your video. My dad took it away from me. I won it playing marbles I didn’t want his marbles I wanted his knife. Long long years ago. Thanks Mack
Awesome!!! Thank you for sharing this!! I’m sorry, but I don’t work on other people’s knives. I simply don’t want the responsibility or pressure working on someone’s sentimental knife. Also, I don’t have any PUMA Knives. A replacement spring would be very hard to find. I hope you understand and I truly appreciate your support of the channel!!
Hi, I have a Schrade Uncle Henry LB5 the Back lock has stopped working Do you have any suggestions, I have cleaned it out and oiled it well but it does not catch and lock. Yes Sir, TSC in Batesburg, South Carolina
Case made an automatic knife back in the 30s and 40s very rare and hard to find. It had 2 blades and each blade had a button to release.
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing this!
I’ve got a imperial like that but the handles are different and the spring is broke to the switch blade part of it but that is a really nice knife
Cool

Sounds like the spring under the lock at the back of the knife. I think it’s broke.
The Schrade look like it mightve laid in a window sill or the dash of a car
