A great library has books to offend anyone.
We don't want sexually explicit material for kids it's not appropriate and it's certainly not appropriate to groom them. For some reason the liberals don't understand. But then again when you're brain-dead there's not much you can do about that.

Books have been the joy of my life…
My dad used to buy any book that made it on to the Index of Forbidden Books, even dumb anti-Catholic crud like The Jesuit Papal Octopus and The Shadow of the Red Hat. The minute it made it on to the Index, somebody made a book sale!

There is a difference between banning books, which prevents their legal sale, and not putting them on school library shelves. No books have been banned anywhere in the US.
It always burns me up when folks say if someone brings something from the “dark side” or “controversial”parts of American culture or history that that person is unpatriotic and doesn’t love America. That’s BS usually. I truly believe in my heart if you are going to love this country, then you should love everything about it, warts and all. Love it in spite of its imperfections. Love it in spite of its wrongdoings, missteps, and terrible happenings, not because of it. We should love it enough to know that it’s only constant is that it will change. The America that once was is not the America that is today, or will be in the future. Love it enough to want it to do and to be better than it was. Love it enough to hope that its best days might come long after you and those you love are gone.

An elementary school library is one thing, a public library is a different story but who is the god that determines which books should or shouldn't be banned? Like Veshi says, ban a book and that is the book that children will want to read.

In the public library I was a member of from 1st grade onward, there were areas of the library restricted until I was 12 years old. Then I had access to the entire library. Thank you libraries!
Book banners do not read books.
As someone outside the USA I always thought the GOP was about small government, and freedom not censorship and heavy government interference.
So if I get this right, for the GOP guns are fine but books are scary when it comes to kids.
Presumably, the same people who can't change a TV channel to avoid seeing something they don't want to also cannot put down a book without reading it cover to cover, if they ever start.
"These books make it easier for you to learn about other people ..." I believe covers the would-be arsonists' objections to all information they do not control.
I love banned book lists. Its my must read list. When I was 8 my mother took me to adult section town library, (I had read everything in child section) got me an adult card, wrote on back "You dont censor, PARENTS ONLY" and I was cut loose.
I read adult books and great classics when I was very young that I found myself. I continued to read my whole life. Many Books/Movies are largely tradegies and struggles of life.
The worst part is that anyone can challenge a book. Kids or not.
That has actually been the case in a lot of these instances. One woman that didn’t even have school aged children had like 50 books banned. I don’t need to tell you what were the topics.

There is nothing wrong with having the Bible in public school libraries. It should be in the appropriate section, though. Science Fiction. It should never be taught as if it's a Science or a History book.

What happened to enforcement of our laws!! The government officials and the courts must address the illegal activities that are being carried out against the citizens who have payed for the property and the buildings that not only store the property but also provide the workplaces for the government employees who are responsible for removing our property from our ability to use without government intervention and violating our rights and laws that protect us from discrimination and harassment by any person who has a criminal interest or a personal grievance of a personal nature! The courts must protect the citizens rights and uphold our constitutional protections to prevent discrimination against anyone from being free to move in our country! The government and courts cannot enforce the laws upon the citizens with civil servants without giving us the freedom and protection from harassment and discrimination perpetrated by the same individuals! Criminal acts are just as dangerous when the government or justice system perpetrate them and should be punished with more severe consequences because they have the power to impose their will on others who depend upon them to protect our communities and citizens from harm in any form! If you commit crimes in a court house you will be charged with a crime and processed for the violation and possibly imprisonment! No discussion or refusal to disperse the law upon the private citizen! Witnessing a criminal act and not perusing it for criminal activity and protecting the public interest is a violation of duty and places the public interest at risk for discrimination and harassment in a public interest matter that will deny the personal safety and constitutional rights that are guaranteed by our country and its laws!

Velshi's "banned book club" is a fraud. No books have been banned. Some objectionable books aren't in schools, but parents can still buy the books, if they wish.

This book is not band, it can be purchased on Amazon, eBay, and a lot of other sites. This is a racist book and lacks scholarly rigor. It should not be used as a textbook because of that fact. Other than that, it is not a band and can be purchased by anyone who wants to promote racism.

Books are not being banned. There are no laws being passed banning the importation, sale, possession or transfer of books within states. What we're talking about here is what books to include in the school curriculums. The school library is part and parcel of the school curriculum.
