I would love to own a Silver Sky. I'm out of the guitar buying business now. But if somebody asked me what to get as a "starter" guitar the SE Silver Sky would be a fantastic idea.
I bought a Silver Sky Se a few months ago and what impressed me most was the quality of build, fit, and finish. Having worked in a GC a few years ago I found Fender's quality to be inconsistent and the difference from instrument to instrument kind of broad. I think overall PRS is doing a far better job than any other major maker on quality of build. And it sounds and plays great.
From Reverb I bought a Fender Tele Player back in March. It is my workhorse like you can throw anything to it and it will sound amazing and keep in tune. And then back in October an Epiphone Les Paul Custom in black with a case. Man this two guitars were 400 each. So cheap.
Having purchased a few guitars on Reverb, for me the pull is a good price on a righteous instrument. You can find great bargains on widely manufactured instruments that flood the market. A seller has to lower the price to be noticed. I’ve seen so many great deals on Fender American Pro IIs that I’m not surprised it is always a best seller.
I'm sure the Reverb list is very different from what is happening inside most traditional brick and mortar stores. In our shop, Jackson and Squier are priced to sell, and sell they do. Player series Teles and Strats are the next biggest selling for us, but PRS SE are picking up in sales with the newest models showing great improvements over previous generations. Past that level, the Fender professional series Strats and Teles are popular with players looking for traditional designs with a few tweaks and an included molded case, but the Mexican-built Vintera line is an affordable choice in between.
i love my american pro 2 strat but i'm surprised at the lack of ibanez representation. Especially the az series. My az strat is 2x the guitar my strat is and they come in at the same price..
People keep buying PRS, Gibson and Fender guitars because they are the big trusted brands. People just assume they're good, and when they get them they may not like them so they have to put them back for sale on Reverb again.. PRS have flooded the market with mid range guitars, that's why you'll find them for almost 40% off and thats why they sell a lot.. Guitars by brands like Jackson are made for a more specific player who knows what they want (Floyds or 7-9strings..) and is therefore more likely to keep their gear. It took me several months to get my latest Jackson (RR24Q) cause its always out of stock.
It really means nothing. There are three or four Silver Sky models, there are thousands of different Fender Strat models or Gibson SG’s or Pauls. It would explain more if there was just numbers for each brand.
The PRS Silver Sky SE is #1 on Overall and New while the Gibson Les Paul Standard '60s is #1 on used. For acoustic Overall and New is Ibanez Tim Henson Signature TOD10N and Fender American Acoustasonic Telecaster is #1 used.
just noticed the thumbnail says new, and the title says best selling. They do have an acoustic list and I was surprised not more Squire and other makers outside of the big three. The Player series is good, I own one that is a few years old, but that is now mostly being bought for the name. Too many others making S and T styles in the same price range with more features that add more value.
I admit to being surprised by this. I wonder if this list would change if you measured guitars sold out of shops like yours, rather than on Reverb? And I noticed no Gretsch guitars on this list. (I bought my 1st Gretsch from you guys earlier this year) I guess they just don't make enough Gretschs to show up on this kind of list?
Imo Silver Sky SE vs Player Strat comes down to the neck thickness and fretboard wood. The Modern C neck on a Player is pretty thin and could be a big turn off.
@@stewarttomkinson3356 well like they say Different Strokes for different folks! I prefer Glarry guitars! I perform with them all across the country in large arenas and rock the house every time! Straight Out of the Box absolutely no mods just plug and play Baby! Hope you have an awesome day and everything goes your way!
I wonder how well the PRS sale helped bump the Silver Sky up. I bought one only cause of the sale. I liked it, but I wasn't going to pay the reg price. The sale made me pull the trigger.
The issue for me with a Silver Sky is that I like hot-rodding my guitars. I don’t think that there is much after market parts for a SE Silver Sky. Pickups, neck, pickguard, bridge etc I’m pretty sure are not F spec so very very few aftermarket mods can be done. That’s a reason I have built premium partscasters for myself all hot-rodded the way that I want. I don’t think I’ll be buying any new guitars for several years after completing these 3 builds. As others had mentioned I’m not sure if it’s all that great to be on this list, how many sales were new and how many were listed as used. You know Reverb has that data. Do these companies pay Reverb to keep that data private? Could be, who knows….BTW I absolutely hate Reverb for many reasons. I can’t wait until the gear I have for sale is gone so I can close my account.
Mr. Cement jokes on you I just maxed out my Amex on fender squire turtle edition parallel universes on weeteater. New number 1 for 2023 ain’t over yet!!! 🐢🐢🛸
The list you are covering I think combines new and used. Reverb has new list and Revstar on it. They have new, used, and combination. I thought Ibanez be there
I don't own a single guitar that was ever on a best seller list LOL. Being something of an old school purist, I don't look for guitars that look like, or sound like a Gibson or Fender. I want the Gibson or Fender. I make an allowance for my Squier CV Jazzmaster because a '50s or '60s MIA version is too much money. Also, I have never bought anything from the Reverb site but use it for window shopping.
I'd buy an SE Silver Sky if only they'd release one in a colour I like. They're horrible! (Well, I suppose there's black - but that's a premium option here in the UK.) Dragon Fruit's selling for almost half-price, so you can tell how popular that's proved. I passed on a crazy deal on one, thinking "Do I really want to use this as a project for a re-finish?". For me the star of the year has been the SE DGT. I bought the Gold Top and it's almost ridiculously good for its price! I've bought some other great guitars too, but they don't count as this year's models.
Did you notice there are no Epiphones on that list? I find that pretty suspect overall because EVERY Epiphone I wanted this past year left the shops in a flash and showed up on Reverb for more money and were purchased! So either its just a blip compared to the PRSes or like Jon said, PRS slid Reverb some cash for the top spots. The other one missing...GRESTCH. They are also all over Reverb...so we're saying NOBODY buys Grestch or Epiphone anymore?!? That sounds suspect to me. I agree with Baxter though. I am betting half the reason the Silver Sky SE is #1 is that EVERYONE and their MOTHER purchased one when it was announced and then DUMPED it when it wasn't the end all be all of guitars and didn't instantly play "Slow Dancing" like John did in the promo video. I tried one. Didn't like it at all. Got a Players Series and was MUCH happier.
I have keept an eye on Ibanez their guitars are often sold out there is a waiting and then a batch arrives and those will sell quick so Ibanez seems to be hot in the undervegetation and yes me too got one Ibanez but amongs seasoned players musicians it is best not to mension Ibanez. Fender US Strat always that is the one that I miss and that I will buy. Got to have one making the very pinnacle of my stupidness and that one will hopefully go on to my grandkids when their age will be right.
Surprised to see these expensive gibson les pauls place so highly... hard to believe they would outsell squiers and epiphones... especially considering the amount of gib-hate you see spouted on the boards.
The only people I ever see playing a PRS are people trying to sell a PRS. I can't imagine a company that their most innovative design in years is a knockoff of the most popular guitar design in history doing something unscrupulous though.
I like the PRS original design and some of their other guitars. Very beautiful woods and finish! They sound too similar to each other and too polite for me to keep one. I traded mine for a limited edition John Lee Hooker Sheraton MIJ with American pickups and hardware!
Jonathan hit the nail on the head. Lots of people gave the silver sky a whirl and said nah for sale. It's the new craigslist "I've got a silver sky do you want to trade?" Guitar. Basically the used slut guitar of the market right now. Oh my buddy and his buddy had that same guitar. They woke up and ran away from it.😆😅🤣
Squier classic vibes are not on the list because you can’t get them the 70s model is not available at all for the whole year on Reverb people get them and don’t sell them
Ever since you got the new studio I can't hear half of what you say. I got my laptop cranked to 48; every time you mumble I can't hear it, then you laugh or exclaim and it blasts the speakers out. I'm not watching as much any more because the audio is so bad it's no fun.
maybe the same guitar is sold 10 times on Reverb because nobody liked it and that's why it gets higher on the list? Let's find that out! no hate against any guitar company whatsoever ofcourse!
Reverb has this year also separated out New and Used, so these muttonheads could have just scrolled down to the New list. (Same top four, different order.)
Lol - just making fun of the real trolls who post this crap for real. I got the idea for 'woke guitars' from real comments on the casino guitars videos. With that being said, I was disappointed when Baxter throughout a kind of anti-woke comment when he was talking about confederate flag guitars❤
I would love to own a Silver Sky. I'm out of the guitar buying business now. But if somebody asked me what to get as a "starter" guitar the SE Silver Sky would be a fantastic idea.
I bought two new guitars on Reverb this year. The list is NOT just "guitars nobody wanted and returned," as many are saying.
I bought a Silver Sky Se a few months ago and what impressed me most was the quality of build, fit, and finish. I bought an american silver sky in 2022 and its been fantastic.
Do a list on microphones....and order a couple
I bought an agile from Reverb Les Paul special copy not available on their website, and it was brand new great guitar it’s a lefty
I like the tone and touch sensitivity of my SE Silver Sky much better than my stock 2000’s American Std Strat.
Not surprised it’s on top of the list.
The PRS Silver Sky SE is #1 on Overall and New while the Gibson Les Paul Standard '60s is #1 on used. For acoustic Overall and New is Ibanez Tim Henson Signature TOD10N and Fender American Acoustasonic Telecaster is #1 used.

I didn’t buy anything sub $1000 this year and even I considered buying a silver sky se. Those colors are cool.

The impression today is that Fender doesn’t care enough about Gretsch.
@@LucasJRiceI disagree, but it’s a niche market with people who usually end up buying multiples of them more then the tellie and strat people
PRS SE has been 20% off for a while now. I think that’s bumped up those numbers by quite a bit. I was tempted to buy one too.
Imo Silver Sky SE vs Player Strat comes down to the neck thickness and fretboard wood. The Modern C neck on a Player is pretty thin and could be a big turn off.
I can't believe Harley Benton or Esteban didn't make the list! The two of you are the best, can't wait to get up North and visit your shop!
People don’t sell them they like them they keep them so they’re not on the list I have seen two Harley Benton left-handed over the whole year

This is not all guitars, just reverb.
@@BenState just reverb? You sure they didn't throw in a little flanger and chorus?
I wonder how well the PRS sale helped bump the Silver Sky up. I bought one only cause of the sale. I liked it, but I wasn't going to pay the reg price. The sale made me pull the trigger.
Funny that the SE Silver Sky guitars are STILL massively discounted in the UK and have been since before Black Friday 2022.
So was it the same Silver sky sold over and over?

With a few exceptions, the cost seems to go down as you move to #1. Peeps I think, are looking at value for money rather than much else during 2023.
The silver sky is the most sold guitar on every major site on the planet. It’s purely just numbers.
This list is mostly PRS & Fenders.
How did Ibanez, Schecter, Charvel not make the list?
So... In other words, these are the guitars people feel like hanging on to the least? That's not a great list to be at the top of, is it?
Reverb sells a lot of new guitars. A guitar company really wants to be on this list.
If it’s brand new that point isn’t valid
Nice
It'd be nice to see New sales vs Used sales stats. Should be apples to apples.

There's an Epiphone on the Used list, but only at #11.
I would get an old US made Peavey Predator over a Silver Sky SE.
Left-hand bridge five 230 same price solid body Grech
In other news, Big Macs were the highest selling hamburgers...
It's number 1 because they have all been bought and sold several times.

Nah they always do, just not as fast

no ES-335s, weird

This is a list of guitars people are not wanting any more. Glad to see no one is parting with their Jaguars and Jazzmasters.
