So far, zero regrets replacing my 11 inch iPad pro for the S8 Ultra. I am slowly using it more for certain workflows that I traditionally only used my pc for. The size in terms of portability has largely become a non-issue. I do find that working with the tablet and keyboard on my lap (like now as I lie in bed) is a bit iffy. The keyboard is thin and wobbly, and the kick stand needs to be angled just right otherwise, the screen falls over backwards. Overall I am extremely satisfied with the tab S8 ultra, and I can see myself using it for work and media consumption for the next 3 years or so.
Agreed, the more I use it the more I realise how powerful this is. will check out the auto rotate apps and see if I can find it. Don't think it needs much more improvement to be honest, probably better/more polished android tablet apps as the OneUI 5 interface is very good now.

Great Video Alex! Yea, I switched from Samsung to iPad many years ago and I'm currently loving my 11" 2nd gen iPad Pro, but I'm a bit angry that Apple decided not to include external monitor support on this iPad. I guess the one thing that is keeping me on the iPad is the apps, they simply work really well and I don't feel it's the right time to move to an Android tablet yet. I think developers seriously need to start spending more time perfecting these Android apps, because some of the apps I remember using on my iPhone are simply shocking on Android.
Hey Dom!! Yeah that whole stage manager and external monitor support flip-flopping drove me crazy too. I understand some features require more RAM but their excuses are just laughable now... And yes, the apps are getting better but nowhere near as polished as iPAdOS apps yet
Exactly the way I feel about my Ultra. I rarely boot up my Dell XPS 15 because I can do 95% of my work on the Ultra. And carrying it with me with the keyboard cover case it is a great portable option, lighter with better battery life than almost any notebook PC. And for content consumption I prefer it to my television because held on my lap it gives the same width as an 80 inch television on the wall. S pen is great for taking notes and marking up PDF's and the fact whatever I do in Notes appears on my phone as well is great for working on the go. Awesome review covering the good and bad very accurately.
Samsung tablets are so overlooked I love using my tab s8 as a computer and for high school, even though my classmates would sometimes joke about me having an android since my class is really obsessed with apple
I upgraded from a Tab S7 to a 512gb S8+ and added a 1tb micro SD card. Perfect setup for a travel device. I transfer pictures from my camera wirelessly and the tablet automatically backs up to my Google Drive. Also good for editing via LR mobile.
I bought the S8U on day one and you're right trying to find accessories is difficult simply because the big brands have made their allegiance to the all mighty apple.
Such a shame right? I can only find cheap amazon crap. Luckily there are some stands now and some iPad ones that actually look ok. But it would be nice to have a few decent keyboard cases to choose from...
This is also true for Samsung phones. I have very little to no options on cases and beautiful accessories. I tried to check out Pinterest for "aesthetic" phone covers, it will show 100% iPhones.
Amazing display! For my usage, it's perfect! In the evenings I do reach for a smaller iPad air, but during the day for getting stuff done... There is nothing better
@@AlexGTech I'm using the z fold 4 during the day and on an evening and like you I use my s8 ultra during the day too but for work purposes and streaming etc. Love them both
Thanks, Alex, for another amazing video. As you will expect from Samsung, the keyboard prices always go down, especially on amazon. I just bought the s8 keyboard for half price. You can't help to think there may be an apple bias with accessories manufacturers, but i commend Samsung for taking care of their customers by giving them almost all the accessories you need to get the best out of thier devices. The keyboard case and protective case are awesome. The Lululook stand is amazing, and i appreciate the manufacturer for it. Another great tool is samsung multicontrol with a samsung laptop. Great seamless way to connect your tab to your laptop and control it with the same keyboard, mouse, or trackpad on the laptop and share media files. When it comes to the app, almost all apps i use on my ipad are on my samsung device. I've built my app use to be more cross-platform. For graphics and video editing, infinity paint /design and Luma Fusion / Adobe rush have been great. Most everyday folks who complain about apps never bother to find an equivalent on andriod. They want multiple apps on ipad and use just 20% of the tools in one app. Tools are great, but your creativity can make a corel draw user make better art than someone with procreate or infinity painter. Folks need to practice more with what they have.
Thank you!! WIll definitely check out that keyboard. Agree with you, Rush, Infinity are awesome. I do think it's hard to move people away from Procreate though if they used it for many years, but if they are starting out, then there's definitely an option to go with Android. And like you said, there's plenty of decent apps out there, it's just the case of learning/practicing
FYI the Keyboard bookcover works Great! For me, it has been a must have since the Tab S4! Whoever told you the bookcover Keyboard doesn't work right with Bluetooth is Full of it!! It doesn't connect with Bluetooth That's what the four little prongs are for on the bottom of the Tab, They used to sell this cool Daily board Docking station as far as the S6, That is what the Prongs are Really For. I hate getting bad info, Hope this helps!
Awesome and fair video as always. I have the s8ultra as well and I got rid of my iPad Pro. Love the flexibility of the tabs8 ultra and the display is amazing. Dex is highly underrated. I use it a lot on the tablet.
Same. A year later and I would say it has to be the best investment I made all year. SO glad I decided to go for the larger Tab Ultra rather than just the S8+ and also decided to get the 12GB or RAM rather than the lower RAM.
I have a iPhone 14 pro and MacBook Air M1, but tablet wise I’m glad I swapped to the S8 Ultra from my iPad Pro (I gave that to my sister to replace her broken one); the bigger screen helps for college work so I can use my laptop for the research parts and my tablet for the essay writing and having the keyboard for it definitely helps as well; so much so that I’ve very rarely used my MacBook apart from my emulators. The expandable storage doesn’t hurt either; I’ve got 256GB for the price of the 128GB model. Phones wise I’ve had IPhone for way too long that switching to Samsung felt weird, I do have a flip 3 that I use every now and again that I originally got for my mum
Got an S7+ and really could not be happier, it is a delight to use and I no longer use a laptop. it is expensive, but that does not mean it isn't good value. I use the book cover, because it has s-pen storage built in. Even the 3rd party version is almost indistinguishable from the Samsung one, and a fraction of the price. Downside is no 4K output, battery in s-pen is crap, and the fingerprint reader sometimes stays illuminated longer than it should. I'd love to upgrade to the S8 Ultra, but I'd struggle justifying it. I really hope Samsung continues with the excellent work they've been doing in this area.
I was really tempted by the S7+. I should have gone for it to be honest, but glad I eventually got the S8U. Yes, Samsung are really pushing the boundaries now, great to see
THANK YOU! Alex, this was so informative and helpful. I've recently been considering a good tablet for helping me grow my small business. I know I will need a lot of versatility being, that I need both "business management" tools/options and design and editing capabilities. I was leaning toward the Tab S8U as an android fan (and former Apple user 🤮 - personal experience and preferences); You've (along with some other external research) helped solidify my choice. Thank you, again, I can't wait to see all the things still to come.
My pleasure, Lindsey! I’m so glad that this has been helpful. I really think this device is close to perfection. There are some limitations when it comes to artist related apps, but getting things done this is awesome. Apparently there is a tab S9 coming up, so it might be worth waiting a week before you make a final decision. Samsung will be announcing a new set of devices on the 1st of February
Thanks for saying that! Always good to keep an open mind with tech right? We get to experience best of both worlds that way, imo. Have a lovely weekend ahead!
For my use case the iPad Pro all the way, but I think it’s great that Samsung is making tablets that are genuinely different take on the tablet format and are giving consumers a genuine option. Personally I dread the day Apple will make the pro a proper 2 in 1 because I don’t want desktop functionality eating up resources on my tablet. As an artist tool, I really need as much resources going towards my art apps instead of all these OS things that really for a focused device. As powerful as the M chips are, the iPad is still getting an entry level chip, and I don’t know how many pros are picking up the MacBook Air unless they are on a crazy tight budget. For desktop activity, the MacBook Air is more compact, cheaper than an iPad with Magic Keyboard. But there needs to be an alternative where you still have a solid tablet only interface, and a desktop environment option. I think Samsung is delivering on that front. We should just be happy that we have devices suiting more workflows, rather than asking the iPad to mimic devices that already exist.
Yes, there just is no decent replacement for the artist apps we get on iPadOS... And I am with you on making the iPad too "desktop-y", but I do think it should be able to do more given the available resources, even if it was just better multitasking functions. Pro apps, I am not here or there. Would be nice again, but I kinda gave up on the idea now...
I just keep my serious work for my laptop and have a 12.9 inch iPad pro second gen to take notes for studying, use as a drawing tablet for pc, easy TH-cam and netflix everywhere and to play clash of clans. I bought this second hand for around €500 and its been great.
That’s an amazing price!! Honestly the iPad is more than capable I just think Apple could really make it even better but keep it safe, probably afraid customers wouldn’t buy MacBooks. I’d honestly be happy to keep my MacBook Pro for high end stuff but use the iPad for occasional pro apps usage as well as entertaining/light work
I was using my Tab S6 Lite for watching content and note taking. I wanted a bigger tablet than 11 inch I was looking for ipad pro since it had big screen but when I dig the videos like apple and aamsung tablets I I found the Ultra version and plus versions. I traded my tab S6 lite with tab S9+ since there is not much of a difference between this that cost that much also 12.4 inc is great for portability too. The main thing I switch to this device was the screen resolution and can be connected to mobitor whixh S6Lite doesnt. Ultra is more like a desktop use since I have a pc and big monitor I chosed s9+ Subscribed keep up the good work!!
I thought Dex came out first. Along with Galaxy S8 I think. The thing that I like about Apple is that their version of the features in android is usually more polished and was created with their ecosystem in mind, not just 1 type of device.
The Galaxy Tab is way more capable than the iPad Pro at the moment due to the limitations of iPadOS. I am currently using the Tab S7 and I have been impressed. The Tab S8 Ultra would have been perfect if it wasn't for the notch. Thank goodness that the Tab S8+ exists.
They’re killing it right now! I have both apple and android products but gotta say Samsung have moved on so much recently! Apple seems to be playing too safe
I somewhat regret trading in my Tab S7+ for an m1 ipad air. The note taking just doesn't feel as good. The iPad air screen physically and it's lower refresh rate just don't make for a good note taking experience. It definitely wasn't the apple pencil though. I liked the feel of the pencil, the screen just didn't cut it. M1 iPad air is still a great tablet, but I'm sure I would have been way more regretful if I had traded a Tab S8 Ultra for it. Definitely trading in the iPad when the Tab S9 Ultra comes out.
My dream Tab S9, the Lenovo Extreme and its new keyboard with Samsung's software, at least a 700 - 800 nits display with anti-glare treatment, Qualcomm's new Orion processor, or at least an even more overclocked 8 Gen 2 than advertised for the S23 and if possible a cooling system like that of the Redmagic 8 Pro 🤗 I know I'm dreaming 😅
I've got one s8 Ultra and I'm loving it, but I still gotta use a notebook with it, I'm a Mac user since 2004 and I'm considering changing my MacBook Pro for a Book2 Pro 360 to get the best of the ecosystem. Do you think it's a good switch? Should I wait for the book3 ultra?
Seriously considering Samsung but leaving the apple ecosystem is a big gamble for me. Will you recommend Samsung for durability? My Ipads has lasted me so long until its unusable not because its broken, but because its become too slow to handle newer apps.
Hi there the Tab S8 Ultra has been amazing and I still use it daily. IpadOS 17 is looking great (still beta) and Will allow for better multitasking but Dex is still.oncredible. Mt recommendation would be to look at the apps you use the most and if they are on both tablets, then consider the ecosystem question. It doesn't bother me to have android and Apple devices at the same time, but I know that may not work for everyone.
Great comparison which makes me reconsider the TabS8 Ultra. Can you talk more about file handling on the tablet or in DeX? I can connect my phone to a PC for Dex but file access seems to be limited to phone-local, OneDrive or G Drive. Can it connect to local networks? iPad really seems to struggle with this and handling is very mediocre, especially for video resources, LumaFusion file export etc.
Thank you! I haven’t tried network drives but if you use an app like Solid Explorer ( I reviewed in this video: th-cam.com/video/5Ym0zRAQE-w/w-d-xo.html ) you should be able to connect to many sources like even FTP locations. Lumafusion on the Tab S8 Ultra doesn’t seem to be quite there yet by the way, if feels like it needs an update. Using my camera footage (4K 10bit 24 fps) is not working but footage recorded on mobile works.
@Alex Gear & Tech totally agreed. Been hoping that the Apple iPad pro can be on par with the Dex so I can replace my MacBook but it's way too long to happen.
First of all, I love your video first timer here watching your vids and just subscribed!! the impeccable presentation and honesty of the info you share its a no brainer for me to subscribe and like your vids.I do a lot of reading on my current S7 10 inch tablet. planning to upgrade to this beauty. May I know if its heavy while holding it for reading?
You convinced me to replace my laptop with this one! I am looking to buy a very cheap mini pc to run at home as a remote server if I ever need windows on the S8 ultra, I think that way I could replace my laptop and all my paper notes lying around
Superb comparison Alex 😁 I really enjoy my S8U it's my goto tablet and I use it all the time. My 12.9" ipad pro is never used anymore and good riddance to the cr🍎pple garbage 😃
I went from ipad pro 10.5 to S8 Ultra and it was an amazing change specially because my phone was from samsung and I use a windows pc or chromebook. The s8 ultra is a bit too big to travel around with or use as a reading device so I got the regular S8 too. The apps are not as good as for ipad except for a few apps like instragram which just sucks on all tablets :) Edit: The bets case for the Tab s8 ultra is samsungs own kickstand keyboard case. While the price is 350 its usually bundled gift when buying the device or you can get it 50% off on sales. The case protects the pen with its own flap, it has a good kickstand and the keyboard works well (only on a flat surface). To correct the connection is not by bluetooth at all. It has a pin connector so you will have 0 problems with the connection and the keyboard has a backlight. Even without the keyboard the backcover protecting the pen and the kickstand is great and its a magnetic connection so its really thin. I tried a seperate keyboard and a mouse but its so much easier to use the keyboard with a trackpad unless you are at home.
As always a really cool and interessing video. I´m thinking about switching back from Apple to Android, especially Samsung. At the moment I use an iPhone 13, an iPad Mini 6 and a MacBook Pro 14". The MacBook is rented through Grover and the rent goes until May. Then I will switch back to a Windows Gaming Laptop, that´s more of my style. MacOS has no features that I need and all the Software I use is also avalible on Windows. The only App I would miss is Procreate on iPadOS so i will definitely keep my iPad Mini 6. The iPhone 13 is solid but boring. It´s as simple as that. I hope the S23 Ultra will be an Option and maybe there will be a Tab S9 Ultra this year. Wich device I can not get out of my head is the Fold 4, since I so your videos about that device but maybe it´s better to wait until the Fold 5 will come out later this year.
Thank you so much! Switching fully is always hard but I found it's possible to keep best of both worlds, by using cloud services that work on both Apple and Android ecosystems. Yeah Procreate is one the apps I was referring to. Irreplaceable on Android. Yes, Fold 4 is still my favourite smartphone right now, without a doubt. If someone comes up with a way of syncing the Apple Watch with Android they'd be very rich as I;d ditch the iPhone straight away 🤣 Ok, and Airdrop..
Hi, great video. Thanks. I was gonna ask you about the lululook stand and how you feel about it after nearly a year using. How the quality holds up and stuffs. It definitely is the best stand for Tab s8 series till now.
Hi thank you! Yes that stand is perfect! The magnets are very strong and I’ve seen it interfere with drawing but only minimal and doesn’t really impact what I do. Really good bit of kit
Yet another great video 👍👍👍 One thing that I use a lot to make it more comfortable to hold the tab when I'm not sitting at a desk, is called Ontel Pillow pad Ultra. It's on Amazon. This time I'm Not gonna make a certain type of comment. My wife have decided that I don't have that type of humor anymore. We'll see..🍻🤘
Tbh i sold iPhone 14 pro max for s22 ultra which I will return for s22 ultra when it comes out.... I don't miss Apple ecosystem at all. One ui 5 it's a delight even camera is better
How is Lightroom performance if ypu don't mind? I have the 2020 Ipad Pro and it's been my workhorse for the last 3 years. It completely replaced my computer for photo editing, it was easily flying through massive Fujifilm GFX 50 mpx RAW files. I tried Lightroom on my S23 Ultra and I wasn't impressed, feels sluggish and it's a bit slow going from one photo to other
I bought ipad pro almost 2 years and used only couple times. Since I switched to Samsung tab s7+ and daily used I love it too much, and I just buy tab s8 ultra. To me samsung seems better.
Great video thanks. Maybe spend a little more time on the cons like total apps you can run via dex which you just quickly mentioned but it’s important.
I like it but I think want something a tad smaller, whilst maintaining the features of the Ultra. So the the s8+ seems ideal to me from this line-up. Any opinions here? It's gonna work nicely with my s22!
@@AlexGTech ah, I was actually planning to buy for my birthday this summer so I was going with the S9 for sure. But, just researching these as they'll probably be quite similar!
My main device is the s7+ and I am slowly learning too utulize it's potential. When I am drawing (clip studio paint) it's laggy when using an external monitor (yes, got high-speed usbc-usbc cable). Do you notice lag when mirroring with external display on the S8 ultra? PS try using the S-pen Pro 👌👌👌 it's better then Apple pencil
Are you using screen protector and does it reduce the sensitivity of under screen protector from. Your experience? I have found this but concerned about removing and scratching screen without one.
@@AlexGTech thanks Alex. I might take mine off. I wonder will they ever get copy and paste for files functionality in the supported android os for the ultra or pdf opening in browser support
You were talking about cases for the s8 ultra. I love the book cover case that Samsung makes. The magnets are really strong and is perfect on my lap. Only downside is no corner protection. It is expensive at 100 dollars but I caught on sale for half price.
Actually 100 bucks seem decent for a good case. I think a keyboard case like the one Samsung makes but with a sturdier kickstand would be perfect but no one seems to be making it...
Better for note taking, specially with Samsung notes. You don't need to charge the s pen to write. Charging is needed for using air gestures other features.

Im going to buy a s8 ultra. If i wanna keep multiple tabs open and do some video editing u think go to 16 gb ram(or 12) whort it?... or better keep the money and stay on 8?... thanks '
I was an early adapter with the 1st gen iPad Pro and soon realised it was no more than a consumer device. The pre-school like uninspiring big rounded UI of iPad OS is greatly responsible for this I think. The app based file system annoys me also, not forgetting the lack of physical I/O .(+ The more powerful apple silicon gets, the more it amplifies the OS crippling nature) I think the only way I would get another iPad Pro is if the screen was 14" + and it ran any of my Mac desktop apps in a dex like fashion in which the Apple Pencil would be a perfect pointing device if you had sausage fingers. Yes, I've loved using Mac OS over the years, but the iPad Pro is no more than a marketing gimmick IMO. Apple pee's me off too. I'm tempted to get the S8 Ultra but I need an excellent alternative android vector based app on par with Illustrator or Affinity Designer. I think I'l be covered with painting apps such as Krita... Thanks for sharing your opinion Alex.
Honestly sounds like tablets aren’t for you Samsung dex isn’t going to give you access to better apps lol I’ve got the z fold 4 and I’ve never used DEX I just think it’s pretending to be something it’s not
Why are you yelling at the iPad. It's not iPads fault, but Apple that is not giving it a proper productivity and modern OS. Could have been so great, if just... The Galaxy Tab looks great and is not as locked down. Great choice.
Fintie note book case for 20usd is just awesome and tempered glass by ProCase is very good application is bit tough but s pen reception quite good and finger print scanner works good
I was about to buy ipad air 5 but the 64gb of storage and price of the apple pencil is just an insult to customers. So I will buy the base S8 next week. I don't actually care about m1 chip. Samsung knows better what customers need.
The iPad Air 5 is pretty good performance is of the charts so it’s ridiculously future proof it’s not going to slow down after 2 years and it will receive all the latest updates on the day with no delay’s for the next 6 years Apple also knows what the customers want and what most customers want is simplicity a tablet that gets the job done as quick as possible with no nonsense in between
Better? In what? It all depends on your needs. For people who make music. It's not better. For people creating 3d models (LIDAR)... So don't talk nonsense...
@@hankmiller990 For content consumers, perhaps it is better. For creators - in many areas definitely not...but it's only my opinion... and iPad is too expensive for sure

Nice, thank you! I feel like I need to get one, it should be cheaper now right?!
Awesome and fair video as always. I have the s8ultra as well and I got rid of my iPad Pro. Love the flexibility of the tabs8 ultra and the display is amazing. Dex is highly underrated. I use it a lot on the tablet.
thank you!! Yes, Dex is a hidden gem it seems! Love it. Have a great week!
Thanks Alex, nice to meet you and your channel!
Hugs from Brazil 🇧🇷 São Paulo ❤️
Excellent review , I'm looking to get this tab soon, can't wait, looks a beast!
Apple: send monies! 💰 🤣
That’s their motto! 😂
My tab s8 ultra is my best decision ever worth it hehe no regrets
Brilliant! Yes, same here - zero regrets
How is this man not at 100K yet?? Come on people!
Thank you so much Tyler!! This made me smile 😊
Absolutely amazing review. I felt the exact same way. But I went as far as selling my iPad. Do not miss it. I love my MacBook Pro though. Great job!
@@AlexGTech Apple isn’t perfect and it’s fair to call out what doesn’t work
I just keep my serious work for my laptop and have a 12.9 inch iPad pro second gen to take notes for studying, use as a drawing tablet for pc, easy TH-cam and netflix everywhere and to play clash of clans.
Ultra is more like a desktop use since I have a pc and big monitor I chosed s9+
Subscribed keep up the good work!!
Great work. I appreciate that you really went deep into the galaxy tab.
Thank you! Such an awesome tablet!
Super nice video, love it. Thanks for the drawing app recommendation
No problem 😊and thank you so much for the kind words!
Dex looks like everything stage manager should have been!
Right? It’s not as polished as iPadOS but so much more functional!
I thought Dex came out first. Along with Galaxy S8 I think.
The thing that I like about Apple is that their version of the features in android is usually more polished and was created with their ecosystem in mind, not just 1 type of device.
@@EllisKaiXOXO can you give us a few examples?
Congratulations for this wonderful channel. I really like your style ! Keep it up !
Oh thank you!! Really appreciate you saying that, have a lovely rest of the weekend 🙏🏼
Great job on this one!! Looking forward to your overview of the portable monitors!
Thanks Elliot! Will do!
Yes I have the Tab S8+ it's worth the money love it beast mode.
Such a great design! And so powerful, really let’s me get on with work
LOVE the quality and detailed information you provide....Greeting from Costa Rica! and I LOVE my S8 Ultra...(my iPad looks at me with jealousy!)
Samsung for life 🙌
They’re killing it right now!
Great review Alex! Those multitasking features look great, but you know me.. too In the eco-system to quit haha.
Tell me about it haha 😂 Thanks Chris!
My dream Tab S9, the Lenovo Extreme and its new keyboard with Samsung's software, at least a 700 - 800 nits display with anti-glare treatment, Qualcomm's new Orion processor, or at least an even more overclocked 8 Gen 2 than advertised for the S23 and if possible a cooling system like that of the Redmagic 8 Pro 🤗
I know I'm dreaming 😅
Yeah that would be an amazing tablet! For me there’s very little to improve here, mostly software for me
In what did Samsung follow Apple? Rounded corners? Headphone jack? It's a other way around. Apple is following Samsung for years now.
That is true. Iwas referring to poor trade-ins and not having a charger in the box.
This Tabletten is 100%FUN!! I love IT i used is every Day. But one contra is i need a rotation app for Apps.. Why Not from Samsung this App😬
To be honest, I think enjoying both ecosystems is also possible. I don't think there is a better laptop than the MacBook Pro personally...
@@AlexGTech Cool, thanks. I found it here: th-cam.com/video/TocEN18ZgOI/w-d-xo.html I will def take a look at Solid Explorer...
Another great video again Alex! Been torn between Ipad and the Tab for a quite some time. Guess I got my answer.
Thank you so much! Both are great but I honestly think we’re getting more bank for our buck with the Tab S8 Ultra
@Alex Gear & Tech totally agreed. Been hoping that the Apple iPad pro can be on par with the Dex so I can replace my MacBook but it's way too long to happen.
7 mos using my S8 Ultra and I'm still loving it. Not missing the iPad at all.
Honestly one of the best tablets out there right now. I'm not even sure if if the tab S9 9 can improve on this
First of all, I love your video first timer here watching your vids and just subscribed!! the impeccable presentation and honesty of the info you share its a no brainer for me to subscribe and like your vids.I do a lot of reading on my current S7 10 inch tablet. planning to upgrade to this beauty. May I know if its heavy while holding it for reading?
What is the battery life? What is the amoled power draw? Is "screen etching" a problem over the long term?
Lasts a whole day when I am busy with it. Amazing really considering the display
You convinced me to replace my laptop with this one! I am looking to buy a very cheap mini pc to run at home as a remote server if I ever need windows on the S8 ultra, I think that way I could replace my laptop and all my paper notes lying around
Loved your vid ❤️. You're accents' amazing❤️
That’s a lovely thing to say, thank you 🙏🏼
Superb comparison Alex 😁 I really enjoy my S8U it's my goto tablet and I use it all the time. My 12.9" ipad pro is never used anymore and good riddance to the cr🍎pple garbage 😃
Hey Lee!! thanks so much, yeah this is an elite tablet, could do with a couple of apps but it's so capable!
Top as always 🍻
Thanks mate!!
The one downside is inability to charge the Fold and Tab while using for Dex. .. Please correct me if I'm missing something.
I went from ipad pro 10.5 to S8 Ultra and it was an amazing change specially because my phone was from samsung and I use a windows pc or chromebook. The s8 ultra is a bit too big to travel around with or use as a reading device so I got the regular S8 too.
The apps are not as good as for ipad except for a few apps like instragram which just sucks on all tablets :)
Edit: The bets case for the Tab s8 ultra is samsungs own kickstand keyboard case.
Great video. Thank you👍. All you said about this monster of tablet is true. I love it (typing this comment in DeX mode😀).
Just ordered it!
Is it good for editing and adobe photoshop ?
Is it good for drawing and sketching ?
please let me know sir .
I want to buy it .
Yet another great video 👍👍👍
One thing that I use a lot to make it more comfortable to hold the tab when I'm not sitting at a desk, is called Ontel Pillow pad Ultra. It's on Amazon.
This time I'm Not gonna make a certain type of comment. My wife have decided that I don't have that type of humor anymore.
We'll see..🍻🤘
Great tip, thanks so much - definitely checking that out!
And... I see this curtailment as grounds for divorce 🤣
Tbh i sold iPhone 14 pro max for s22 ultra which I will return for s22 ultra when it comes out.... I don't miss Apple ecosystem at all.
One ui 5 it's a delight even camera is better
I am looking forward to that S23U too. Should be a beast, especially for countries that had Exynos previously...
Galaxy tab s8 ultra is a beast and better than ipad pro
can't disagree! Software is getting there and with a few more decent apps it would be unbeatable
Apple does not have a 15-inch display, so not a fair comparison. The Tab S8+ versus the iPad Pro 12.9 is the correct test.
How do you rate it for photo editing and what apps are best for that???
How is Lightroom performance if ypu don't mind? I have the 2020 Ipad Pro and it's been my workhorse for the last 3 years. It completely replaced my computer for photo editing, it was easily flying through massive Fujifilm GFX 50 mpx RAW files.
I tried Lightroom on my S23 Ultra and I wasn't impressed, feels sluggish and it's a bit slow going from one photo to
other
I bought ipad pro almost 2 years and used only couple times. Since I switched to Samsung tab s7+ and daily used I love it too much, and I just buy tab s8 ultra. To me samsung seems better.
Alex you are the man.
Great video as always...😌
Thank you 🙏🏼 such a great tablet!
How about comparing the Samsung Galaxy book 2 pro 360?
Sounds like a great idea! Someone else had mentioned this, so I think I’m going to give it a go
Great video thanks. Maybe spend a little more time on the cons like total apps you can run via dex which you just quickly mentioned but it’s important.
Thank you, will do! Im my usage I haven't come accross that limit but will make sure to included this in my next videos 🙏🏼
iPad Mini, Tab Ultra. Both the best of their respective lines at this point.
Heard some great things about the mini, will give it a go soon I’m sure 👊🏼
@@AlexGTech Please do. Then get back on the podcast to share notes with Patrick.
I like it but I think want something a tad smaller, whilst maintaining the features of the Ultra. So the the s8+ seems ideal to me from this line-up. Any opinions here?
It's gonna work nicely with my s22!
Yes, the S8+ might be a good option for you. Although I would wait until next week, just in case Samsung decides to launch the S9 range.
Watching this on a 11 inch tab s8 😁
Awesome! They are all great to be fair!
Are you using screen protector and does it reduce the sensitivity of under screen protector from. Your experience? I have found this but concerned about removing and scratching screen without one.
No protector here, I am just very careful with it when I take it out. I use a leather sleeve for a laptop to protect it in my travels
@@AlexGTech thanks Alex. I might take mine off. I wonder will they ever get copy and paste for files functionality in the supported android os for the ultra or pdf opening in browser support
Heyy. Can you use the S8 ultra for programming or coding anything computer science related ??
I love his Quirkiness and energy at almost of his videos😂
S8 can do wirless charge, that is why samsung special than others tablet with wirless charge, samsung know the users .
They certainly do. They seem to listen more to customers
Alex, quick question: So the sateshi ipad dock isn't compatible at all with the Tab S8 Ultra?
Hi there, no it really isn't. Nothing on it works apart from charging via usb-c
@@AlexGTech thanks mate, I got both and although I prefer the Tab S8 Ultra, it is indeed lacking on the accessories side.
I found the Lululook stand is all I need really. I think I included a link to that here or maybe in my follow up video 👊🏼
Alex, can you advise me on how to get the 5G varient with the same 512gb? I am in Jamaica
Yeah id love a case you clicked it in and turned it into a clamshell laptop with keyboard
How is the pen compared to Ipad and the Apple pencil? I'm switching to Samsung but the only thing I havent yet is the tablet.
Better for note taking, specially with Samsung notes. You don't need to charge the s pen to write. Charging is needed for using air gestures other features.
At 8:35 into the video you showed an app you were using to draw on. What app is that?
That’s called concepts, I reviewed it in my best apps for the tab s8 ultra video: Best apps for making the most of the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra!

How well does it produce Dolby Vision image, for my HBO Max subscription?
Hi there, I don’t have HBO here but it does an awesome job with Disney+
Great tab but my main regret is batterie life.... 5 to 6h of sot is really poor imho....do you face the same problem ?
Im going to buy a s8 ultra. If i wanna keep multiple tabs open and do some video editing u think go to 16 gb ram(or 12) whort it?... or better keep the money and stay on 8?... thanks

Hey! The keyboard cover does not use Bluetooth. You should give it a try!
Great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it Jason! have a good one 🙏🏼
I also have issues with lumafusion on my tab s8, but the app is still in beta so I'm not surprised
I didn't realise it was still in Beta to be fair. That's encouraging I guess
What file MB/s copy throughput do you get over USB-C to tablet from Windows PC? Thank you.
Honestly sounds like tablets aren’t for you
Samsung dex isn’t going to give you access to better apps lol
I’ve got the z fold 4 and I’ve never used DEX I just think it’s pretending to be something it’s not
Why are you yelling at the iPad. It's not iPads fault, but Apple that is not giving it a proper productivity and modern OS. Could have been so great, if just... The Galaxy Tab looks great and is not as locked down. Great choice.
I agree, Apple have really let us down recently with the iPAd... Glad Samsung are looking after customers and not just profits!
Fintie note book case for 20usd is just awesome and tempered glass by ProCase is very good application is bit tough but s pen reception quite good and finger print scanner works good
I bought tab 8 ultra after watching your review thanks
Brilliant thank you, will check those out!
That’s awesome! Really glad my videos are helping 🙏🏼
I was about to buy ipad air 5 but the 64gb of storage and price of the apple pencil is just an insult to customers. So I will buy the base S8 next week. I don't actually care about m1 chip. Samsung knows better what customers need.
The iPad Air 5 is pretty good performance is of the charts so it’s ridiculously future proof it’s not going to slow down after 2 years and it will receive all the latest updates on the day with no delay’s for the next 6 years
Apple also knows what the customers want and what most customers want is simplicity a tablet that gets the job done as quick as possible with no nonsense in between
