I'm guessing they just sold their US customer subscriptions to another company, that being UltraAV. If they offered the biggest price or were the first with the offer to buy the customer subscriptions, I don't know, but I wouldn't use the product anyways.
Existing subscriptions are a liability. Kaspersky still owed customers service that it couldn't complete. They probably had to pay another company - in internationally accepted currency - to take over the licenses.
I'll just find a way to keep using Kaspersky somehow
@@sal_strazzullo I set the vpn to Switzerland to download the free version. Someone else suggested it. I don't plan to figure out how to pay while obscuring my location.
Looks like a middle finger from Kaspersky to the US ...
Yep, to the United States, not to the users at all. omg, how naive you guys are
Exactly, they could easily just had deleted everything and left all users without protection
@@firebird687 Pretty sure it was supposed to be a middle finger directed at the US, not the actual users.. They do make a valid point.. If they decide to ban their legit and good AV, why don't we replace it with some shitty allowed one if that's what they want...
More like quick sell without giving a damn about actual user experience since they won't "get" that user experince themselves
@@firebird687 It certainly is to the users. When people paid for subscriptions and you dump them off to some garbage AV company to expose their computer that is personal.
Ya, I woke up with Ultra but I still had Kaspersky. I uninstall both of them and got bit defender... I miss Kaspersky already, it was soo good and I liked the advance features in Kasperksy vs UltraAV.
Bitwarden defender es un buen antivirus que he visto a comparación de otros, Windows defender es decente, pero hay ciertos virus que en específico, pueden burlar el Windows defender
Same for me. I uninstalled Ultra and Kaspersky and installed Bitdefender. However, so far, I like Bitdefender more than Kaspersky. I lost two years of my three year subscription thanks to Biden/Harris, however.
@@dexadine 😞
@@user-ve2yz9ne9g I removed Ultra and left Kaspersky. It works just fine, updates and all.
You miss giving to Putin's war effort ?
Thanks to the US govt, Americans now can't access good stuff like Kaspersky, instead they get the crappy Ultra.
It was not a good stuff. Look they removed it’s own soft and installed the new…. Did you press any button on your computer??? No.. if they can install any software on tour computer remotely, that’s mean they probably could read all your email, download all your documents and get all your passwords
@@tomthecat176 Any antivirus can do all that you listed in order to even check if those things are protected.
Of course Kaspersky was no exception.
As for installing software, any antivirus needs to run with Administrator permissions in order to be able to block stuff from executing or analyze it real time, same Administrator permissions that are needed for installing stuff.
Maybe learn something about Operating Systems before pretending to know about what a good antivirus cannot do.
and you're based in moscovia or india, right privacybot?
@@Hardcore_Remixer Automatically installing AV without asking permission or even giving the consumer a choice was a scumbag shady move on Kasperskys behalf.
At first I was upset that Kaspersky was banned. Now I’ve realized that the way Kaspersky handled the situation showed their true colors.
No prompt for a refund just pass you off to a terrible substitute after years of loyalty out of spite for your government.
@@mail-qh2qc Kaspersky shouldn't have installed anything on any PC without any consent from the customers just because they could. Now that I agree with.
However, how good the Kaspersky antivirus is remains a different story.
Why would Kaspersky replace itself with a decent AV program? Sounds like they're just pissed.
I was thinking similarly. I viewed this is a "F-You" from Kaspersky to the U.S. *sigh*
That made no sense. I guess they were mad as hell
more like take this and good luck haha
come on guys. this was a very lucrative opportunity to sell off the user base to a new company and salvage some money from the loss. pretty obvious.
Pango group the owners of ultra av which is a subsidary of aura which is based out of boston.
Im pretty sure kaspersky has absolutely nothing to do with ultra av.
Kasp should just have deleted itself and turned on Windows Defender on the way out the door. If this ban extends to Europe I'll uninstall K myself and go with another, but until then Kasp stays.
Excuse me, what?
malwarebytes should've paid kaspersky, would've been better
In Europe there is complete democracy and not partial democracy as in America. So it will be much more difficult to make. (I'm not saying that America was wrong or was not)
Windows Defender is fine. It's the most effective and least intrusive of all the options. Why would you use anything else?
@@andreycamper5863
Don't kid yourself. You don't know the meaning of democracy. At any time your laws in Europe can change without your consent. At least in the US if a law is controversial, it requires congressional and court approval before passing if challenged. Europe has no constitution. That's what makes America unique among all other nations of the world. Joke of the week.

As someone from India, last time I saw this max av when I was a child, and I'm, or I was pretty sure that it stopped it's operations or the company shut down. Nobody sells it now. It's really weird.

Wow. So this was Kasperky's revenge.
I feel like Ultra AV is required to install by Government to give Kaspersky a bad reputation
I posted already and I have had none of what's reported happen but I either don't run windows on my pc's or the one I do is a gutted win 10 with no auto features. I suspect it's windows users reporting this, I see nothing on linux forums.
For me it looks like quick cheap solution for Kaspersky to avoid refunds for long time purchased licenses.
Yeah, but only problem is if you read the U.S letter it tells you to find another product not get a refund
kasp must ask customers for this move, not doing it silently. it's a shitty behavior
just use windows defender, malwarebytes, bitdefender, f-secure or smth decent please
also PLIZ ULTRA AV REVIEW I WANT IT
I don't use Kaspersky but if I did and saw this happen to everyone in the US, I'd uninstall it. The fact that they chose this program is ridiculous. Even if they did it as a middle finger to the US government, putting all of the US users at risk like that is unacceptable.
The fact that AV on it's own installing another software on users PCs is already ridiculous. No matter what that software is.
I doubt it was a middle finger. They had no time, and I'd bet most of their money is in rubles. Suppose Bitdefender was really generous and gave them half price for the coverage. That's all US customers, and they'd have to pay in USD.
I never got a single communication from Kaspersky about the ban-which was surprising-so I switched to bit defender a few weeks ago. Now I'm glad I didn't wait.
Knowing the UK, they will probably ban Kaspersky next
Earlier this year when my Total AV subscription expired, I went back and forth trying to decide whether I wanted a 2yr. Bitdefender or Kaspersky subscription. I'm really glad that I went with Bitdefender now.
After receiving an email from Kaspersky, I immediately uninstalled it using the Kaspersky removal tool and installed ESET
Me too, eset
I don't know, man, the fact that the program has the authority to delete itself and install a new program on its own, and actually doing so, seems pretty sketchy to me. I use Kaspersky myself, but this made me a bit suspicious.
Every program on your windows machine can do that if it has admin privileges
you already gave access to all the programs you have installed in your pc, if you worry about security use your own OS, even Linux, and BSD have backdoors to the NSA, CIA, etc., or keep what you have and disconect your modem
You have no idea what an AV can do in your system. Remember, what differentiates medicine from poison is the dosage ;)

Dont blame Kaspersky, blame the US gov for banning
How is the action of the US gov't related to *how* Kaspersky handled this at all? Kaspersky could have done this differently.
Putin arse kissing Trumpie. 😂😂😂
No, we should blame the US for banning and Kaspersky for choosing a bad partner. They should've passed their US customers on to a known company like Bitdeender or Avira etc., even though they're their direct competitors, if they actually had cared about the security of their customers.
Kaspersky is not god.

I still have Kaspersky even though I'm in the US, it's just an older version

I don't have ultra av installed nor did kaspersky uninstall itself. Of course, I removed all of win 10s auto garbage and usually run linux. I'm guessing 100% of these reports is people's windows uninstalled and installed the ultra av. Checked all 5 of my pc's and same thing, kaspersky is still installed and no ultra av. None of the other pc's runs windows either and yes in the states.
The US once again sanctioned themselves with their ultra intelligent and efficient current administration 😅 Btw I'm continuing to enjoy Kaspersky. Never thought life outside USA will be better ever, but here is the current timeline proving me wrong.
Thanks for the info. I was having the hardest time finding any information about ultraav.

I dont see how the gov has any right to interfere with my choice of AV on my PC.

Honestly Kaspersky should've gone with migrating US users to Bitdefender's equivalent plans...
the simple fact the software chose to replace itself with something unwanted, just shows it cant be trusted in the first place. i recommend reinstalling the whole system instead of just removing the new software.
If Kaspersky installs another av without user's permission, then it shouldn't be trusted. Who would do that? Windows has a default av called Windows Defender. Then why would they install another av after uninstalling Kaspersky? That's suspicious revenge behavior from Kaspersky.
Just goes to show you Kasperski really didn’t care if they did they would’ve chose a different company but nope, this is why I don’t use a major AV. I use Windows defender cause I personally like it. Do I believe Windows defender could be better yeah
it is already better, but only in some editions for beta testers. They probably test how "happy" will be an end users if users will see numerous messages about no signature/low trust/potential risk/sudo if you want to continue etc

Still using Kaspersky here in the Philippines. Only ever had 3 AV software, McAfee as it was pre-installed, got rid of it as soon as the limited use period was up. Had Norton for many years, used to be good but got worse and wasn't available once i moved. Had Kaspersky for years and been good all those years.
Possibly there's something better and/or cheaper but maybe not as easy to get if you don't have a credit card .
I’m in the USA , i still have my Kaspersky Plus it’s still working , and i haven’t downloaded UltraAV yet and have NO intention of doing so after reading what people are saying about it !!!
In my opinion, why Kaspersky replaced its product with UltraAv which is very simple and not good in protection, is because Kaspersky says " if my product is banned with ridiculous reasons, then they don't deserve to protected with a good product" and Kaspersky says so by replacing itself with UltraAv in USA. :)
UltraAV more like UltraGeh 😂
This antivirus reminds me of QuickHeal which is another shitty product.
As a person from India I will trust Kaspersky like I am doing for the past 16years or so until it shuts down it's services in India which will never happen I hope.
But how does ultraAV fare in terms of virus protection?
Short answer: dog shit! I ran a few tests on it about a week ago in preparation for this switch and it was so bad I actually recommend using windows defender over it. Yes you read that right, there so shit they can’t even beat out the default option!
UltraAv gave me 2 blue screens. (both times when I tried to open Fortnite) that issue went away when I unistalled it. also, my Microsoft security tab had a q lot of bugs. so I had to format my pc. I would never use UltraAv again.(btw, even if Kaspersky's ban goes away one day, I would never go back with them either. this felt like a slap in the face for all USA customers)
I'm with ESET now. I love it.

I'm still using Kaspersky without problems and vpn, even KSN seems to work. Last Thursday UltraAV installed, but i removed it and installed Kaspersky again using a non USA setup.
Im in the US and made the switch from Kaspersky to Bitdefender yesterday. But what’s weird is that Kaspersky never replaced itself with UltraAv for me. I wonder if they’re just going to stop pushing updates to the software
I thought I got a virus when I saw this installed on my system, especially cause the cmd window popped up for a second. Jumpscared me. Uninstalled and am now using Bitdefender instead.
Thank Dwayna I jumped out on time.
Kaspersky vs Norton, will be fun 🤔
I thought I got malware when that got installed and I uninstalled it literally yesterday Kaspersky was actually good
I use Kaspersky and I will continue use it
Kaspersky is a good product
Kaspersky probably sold or given away their US users to UltraAV manufacturer. Which is sad and I never expected Kaspersky would do this. This is a break of trust between company and it’s end users! And yeah, sactions suck, did not make life easier for Kaspersky!
I add folders and whole drives to exclusions and it unpauses itself then proceeds to destroy a recovery drive I was working on with no history(or so I thought) of what it "cleaned" or quarantined inside the software. I realized when you open the recover files you have to click the load button at the top right. Seems to me it's exclusions do not work at all, unfortunate I really liked kaspersky. I'll keep experimenting and might keep it on this machine for now. If anybody reads my comment opinions on the next best trustworthy av would be appreciated I'm off to keep researching 🕵♀
probably a money decision - this company offered money to take over all of their customers, and since they're getting kicked out and denied a lot of money now, they took it. can't blame em
I tried the new UAV...no page borders difficult for aging eyes.

I went from Bitdefender to webroot to sophos Over the course of like 8 years or so.
Windows sometimes acts as spyware itself. You cannot protect something from itself.
UltraAV support sucks so bad along with service ..
The VPN makes things worse when it comes to speeds ..
Fiber is pointless with UltraAV !!
Its a kick between the legs for service
Nobody knows ULTRA AV even exists in India lol, how can they just replace with such mediocre product without user permission
If Kasperksy got banned by the US, do you think the NSA will allow them such control over their customers?
I think this is just done by Big Bro to make it easier to access certain individuals data , that's all.

I appreciate your video on this. I had picked Kaspersky based on your previous videos. Disappointed I need to find something new and install on all my devices.
I'm no programmer but even i could tell Ultra AV was a shoddy product. Mainly because it just front and center dumped a bunch of random files on every drive that was connected to my computer, files that would be reinserted if deleted. I did actually get a reply from their customer support saying they were for anti-ransomware and they are looking at an update to clean things up but too little too late. The fact it brings up the command prompt all the time like some virus is super clumsy. Let alone that literally every youtube video about the product is directly related to kaspersky with no presence otherwise, let alone any sort comparison testing environment.
Either Kaskersky didn't want to replace itself with something it would consider a true competitor, that or Kaspersky got a nice commission deal, or both.
Rather than just close shop and lose all that money you might as well sell your clients to the highest bidder. Doctors in the U.S. do the same when they retire. Plus if someone asks for a refund they can say they gave you a replacement instead. I'm only surprised McAfee didn't get the clients.
Thanks for posting this video!!!! I hoped you would look at UltraAV, at some point. :)
Strangely enough, Kaspersky is still on my system, and as of an hour ago still updating itself. I am dumping UltraAV
Thanks for the review.
I don't think they chose, I think they were legally binded to replaced themselves for another product, and they went for the cheapest route.
I'm lucky. I'm in Italy. I still have Kaspersky.
what i did was delete that ultra av crap... made a new account, vpn connected to the uk, and now i can continue using the real kaspersky.. it's just so lite on my system and as good as bitdefender which is very heavy on my system...
Its amazing how it can just replace the antivirus remotely which means it's giving ideas to many malicious actors on an idea of how this is accomplished to change the users ultra av to Ransomware or something else.
Well yeah, AV software isn't going to be very effective if it's sandboxed. Exactly why Kaspersky was banned in the first place.
One of my friends had this software on their computer and it very quickly got infected by a virus. I decided to share my bit defender with them for now though.
Thank you for your clear, simple response. I originally thought it was a virus or malware itself.
This happened to me. I was trying to look into who the hell Ultra AV was and I assumed they were just a away to get around the ban but I still didn't know who they were so I did more research into it only to find out no one knew who the hell they were so I was sused out and switched to bit defender. My best guess is that Kaspersky sold us out to

Uninstalling itself and installing software the user didn't and possibly wouldn't want sure sounds like virus behavior.
I switched to Bitdefender as soon as news of the coming ban first hit.
I hope the ban wont expand to Europe because Kaspersky seems to be the best one out there, from your tests and from my experience too
it will only if the eurodiputadogs do as their master tells them, just look at what happened to the huawei 4g towers in Europe, the chinese EVs, and other similar actions and you will know what will do the EU about kapersky
