Honestly if they made the Conn Pod at Disney the line would be so long that you'd have to reserve your seat in line months before. An it'd still be amazing.
I actually thought the conn pod shots were CG until I saw a massive set of one in a behind the scenes video. It's so well done that I thought they simply took the lazy route of using CG, but just pulled it off incredibly well.
I just cant stop imagine of using a machine like that, to build a virtual reality video game. .... imagine it with a rift oculus. man how awesome it could be..
It is so amazing that now I even can tell what you have contributed in a movie. Nobody does metallic surfaces and machinery look more convincing then Legacy EFX!
@@royalwalnutbroth5664 yeah, and you can't even put it to technology, the pilot has to feel the Jaeger, not the Jaeger feel the pilot, meaning the pilot needs to feel the restraints, and there is no way of doing that that doesn't require some sort of handle back, like how the connpods have it, so thats a heavily unrealistic part of uprising.
As well as the clips of the conn pods in the trailers showing the lack of movement of the conn pod set even though the pilots are sliding, spinning, kicking, and getting punched, backhanded, and thrown around like a ragdoll. The conn pods visor was static. The first movie made it feel like the jaegers' heads were "locked" to the pilots' head movement. Where the pilots are looking, the jaeger is also looking. But in uprising, namely bracer phoenix, where they performed a limbo slide to avoid a thrown gypsy avenger, the pilots were looking up at the conn pod's ceiling with a holographic representation of gypsy above their heads. Why would they need that when simply looking at the giant visor would suffice and make sense? Currently, it looks less like being inside giant yet relatively agile robots, and more like being inside an augmented reality set with no hydraulics to simulate head bobbing.
DJ Weapon yes.i was actually looking for people review about the conn pod. I feel the same, some of the scenes just doesn't make sense at all. Just hard to believe that they are inside the giant robot ...more like they are running on some high tech treadmill..damn.
Everytime i watch a behind the scenes all i can think about is how long did this stuff take like this looks like years of work and writing and measurments but then you find out it only took weeks or months the movie world is a crazy industry and i love it!
I was thinking about a similar system to a book of mine. Although there the pilot would be bound at the waist and then free to wiggle around. This stuff hanging from the ceiling is awesome too but not very practical. Still, you have my respect. And my thumbs up! :-)
In relaity the building of 4 Yeagers would bankrupt the US. If you know anything about engineering...a project on that massive of a scale would #1 be caught up in research and development for 20 years. You'd have to draft schematics, blueprints, special weapons technology, find a secret local so massive that you would probably end up having to excavate large areas of land. You have to import materials, parts, and manpower. The sheer number of workers, labor hours, transportation cost, housing cost, food cost, fuel cost, etc. Keep in mind....all this I mentioned is before you actually start to construct one. Also the first one you build would be a prototype. You'd spend 2 to 3 years working the kinks out of that one. Then once you build a fully functioning one, how would you get it live action experience? Its not a human that you can send to boot camp. Id estimate to build 1 functioning Yeager in real life would cost probably 700 Billion dollars for one.
I think I would disagree, war and potential annihilation would speed up the process quite a lot, and since that is what this machine is made for, then it follows that it would be like any wartime technology project. Crude, fast, and functional. I think they took a realistic approach in the movie, they built the Mach 1 in 14 months, but didn't shield the pilots from the radiation as well as they should have. That seems mostly like what would happen in reality. Look at the Manhattan Project, possibly one of the biggest undertakings in weaponry and it took no more than 4 years.
Setxboy I mean if all of mankind is about to be demolished by giant monsters they would stop caring about the money and pool resources into building the Jaegers
UGG Films .....Are you sure? 400 years of slavery, The kidnap, murder and rape of a specific group of people from class to half a millineum. In addition the worlds powers at the time all conspired. Over 100,000,000 people.... Exterminated. I'd watch my words before I assume mankind cares about anything but mankind.
i'm late, but I like it how everyone is arguing about "reality" when in reality they wouldn't even have built giant mechs in the first place. They would probably design some sort of flying machine, with maybe one of those highly effective plasma cannons that they have, or just a nuclear minefield around the rift, or something. Anything would be easier, cheaper, and more efficient than giant mech suits.
all these physical assets of Pacific Rim 1 shouldn't go to waste and just gathering dust in warehouses. Some billionnaire needs to invest a venue in a theme park with actual size of Jaeger that could move around. Gypsy Danger, the Australian jaeger, Cherno, and Crimson Typhoon. Or better, create a specific theme park just for Pacific Rim 1. And they can also continue the franchise with TV series using the physical assets, just like Star Trek TNG did. Actually all the ingredients for success are there. Great story, great mechanics of the jaegers, terrifying kaijus, nice characters. Don't let Pacific Rim 1 stop. Remake or create a better sequel please.
I can only imagine that for the Russians getting water thrown at them constantly for the fight scene , it would be hard to breath for air and call a time out when they need it badly
And Uprising failed with this! Pacific Rim made the whole thing already seems futuristic and also feels realistic to pilot the Jeagers in the first movie, but cames Uprising with its "upgraded" mark 6 Jeagers that looks like the pilots were in a electric treadmill stead of piloting a colossal robot!
Cuando vi la película por primera vez creí que los robots, kaiju y armaduras eran de verdad y mi madre me dijo que no eran dé verdad pero yo sigo creyendo qué son dé verdad aunque no lo sean😏😉🐶
The odd thing is this type of physical attachments won't likely be necessary in the future. Even with today's technology a consumer level Kinect sensor can determine the accurate position of a person's entire body and translate it to software. There is no difference between the capability then to transfer the commands via software to a physical robot avatar.
Wait so kinetic energy sensors can restrain a human from going like it's a normal human, and make it more like a Jaeger, without any arm attachments? Wow.
I'm so glad you guys did this with animatronics instead of CG :)
Well, Its a combination of both
This is mindblowing.
When you show the huge Con-Pod short clips, the actors moving, the water canon...
My mind just... EXPLODED !!!
Honestly if they made the Conn Pod at Disney the line would be so long that you'd have to reserve your seat in line months before. An it'd still be amazing.

Best VR experience ever.
What if, they made a virtual reality Pacific Rm game, like an arcade game, but using an actual Conn-Pod set. Oh LAWD!!
Hell.... yeah....
Agreed
That'll be so sick
Hell yeah!! It'd be real expensive though...I don't know if many people would wanna invest in that.
I imagine how painful it will be

I would likely be called the "Drift Oculus" if they partnered up to create such a gaming stage lol

In uprising, the pilots are literally just attached to a stick
yes
Like they are doing fucking jumps in a conn pod
@@PowerConnoisseur it looks bad summary
also they have no arm thing, and just running on a treadmill

Same here. I was actually very surprised at how little CG was used for this.
That's the difference .....what's lack in Uprising.
Indeed :) Glad to see more people who agree on this.

It's passion, uprising doesn't see like they're put effort and passion into the film.
YES, Passion! totally Agree.
