- A true masterpiece in every element of craftsmanship and design, Cold Steel’s iconic Khyber Sword brings the intrigue around this knife’s rich history and heritage to life in modern day, while exemplifying the fusion of tradition and innovation the brand is renowned for.
Artfully crafted to pay homage to traditional Khyber-style knives
Formidable AISI 1080 steel blade measures 20 inches long and 10.5 mm thick
Incorporates several modern elements, including an ABS plastic handle for a sure hold
Provides exceptional durability, precision and maneuverability
Curved design with distinct fuller to improve balance
Lynn Thompson is so passionate about his work. Such few owners would bother to demonstrate the products themselves.
Even fewer ex owners
I don't think Lynn would approve these days
@@raptorman6589 what do you mean ?
@@raptorman6589he’s still tightly associated with them. As is in this video like less than a minute in lol
@@raptorman6589 I have been a Cold Steel customer for decades and since GSM has taken over the designs and availability of blades have improved dramatically. The only area where CS has downgraded is the sharpening. They clearly have someone else doing the sharpening and they aren't as skilled as their predecessor.
Wow beauty, did not know about this.
Amazing sword with a great history
The sword I’d love to see cold steel make
Is the Ethiopian SHOTEL
"Will cut through a turban " Sheeesh hell ya
Ive always liked the short sword ever since i studied military history. Cold Steel always does it right.
Except they are made in shihole foreign countries. I won't buy it if it's not made in the USA. This type of thinking is long gone unfortunately and is why we are dependent on China and Communists for crappy and sometimes toxic products on the cheap. The USA should replace Independence Day with Dependant on China Day going forward. This country died in 1865 or 1913 depending on which way you look at it.
Cold Steel used to make good products, but now it is just one more generic brand with low quality stuff.
@@draganromcevic6337 Sadly I have noticed that myself. I was a fan, but now I’m seeing it. Ever since I saw C S at Walmart in the bargain bin. I hope the company doesn’t start to lower their quality. I would rather pay a little more for a better blade. I’m so tired of EVERYTHING being made cheap in China.
@draganromcevic6337 Yup. Hell, I took a dremel tool and etched USA over the Taiwan on my 2004 Carbon V Recon Scout because it pissed me off. But I don't even use it. Replaced it with a OKC RD6 and RD7 over ten years ago.
@@Ruger44RedhawkTaiwan isn’t a commie nation dude
Is this another big hunk of 4034 steel retailing for ~$300? Lol
1080
Since GSM took over, I have been able to find CS knives made out of premium steel like 3V and S35VN for as cheap as $115-$140.
Afghan swords were amazing piece of technology at it’s time, the Pulwar is an incredible Afghan sword too and I hope cold steel check it out as well, as an Afghan I am proud of our military equipment history.
Not to forget the jezail
I've always wondered why Cold Steel never made one of these, glad they finally have one coming. Curious what street price will be...
There is no more Cold Steel. This is zombie brand. RIP Cold Steel.
@@draganromcevic6337 Cold Steel hasn't gone anywhere. It sucks that Lynn isn't the owner but he's still involved in the company and they're still putting out good products.
@@DShiflet01 Nope...
@@draganromcevic6337Umm You're literally, factually wrong bro. Sure, they are putting out some cheap stuff with low end steel and I'm not saying you should stock up on their 4113 steel knives, but the AUS-10 stuff, S35VN, etc, just as good as it always was.
@@DShiflet01 I know I am not wrong. I have been Cold Steel fan for 15 years, and I know exactly what happened when Lynn sold the company. Almost all production stopped, so the new owner could get better (cheaper) deals - thus lower quality steels, bad quality, bad quality control, and surprise, surprise - higher prices. Way higher prices. I have a lot of Cold Steel products, but would never again buy another one. And Lynn Thompson is not involved in company for years now - that is just PR BS. This is how corporation that bought Cold Steel operates - buy popular brand, milk it dry, use it to saturate market with cheap crap.
I love this rendition of the khyber sword! My grandpa was from Iran and this reminds me of a smaller dagger he brought with him when he fled the revolution. Very cool! Need to get my hands on one of these bad boys. Cold steel you guys always do justice to these historical blades!
This has nothing to do with Iran. It’s an Afghan sword.
@@ChromeMan04 This REMINDS ME of a smaller dagger my grandpa brought with him from Iran.
@@dataclast which dagger? If your talking about the Kard, it looks nothing like this
@@ChromeMan04 lol don’t worry bout it bro. Move it along.
@@dataclast “move it along” 🤓
Typical irani clowns obsessed with stealing afghan history
Glad to see that choice of handle color. I'll have to see if CS has this in a machete version, too. If not, they hopefully will. Very impressive, Lynn.
Lmao, "One of the few things I admire about the Afghan people..." Never change Lynn!
Yeah I noticed that too. 🤦♂️
Another awesome video! That sword would be a nice addition to my Cold Steel collection. Been buying Cold Steel for over 20 years. I trust my life with their products.
You are right to say so, after buying CS knives, it’s hard for me to take other brands seriously for serious situations.
Not made in the USA though. I'll pass.
@@Ruger44Redhawk I own around 400 different blades, and the best ones are made OUTSIDE the USA (specifically Spain, Italy, and Japan). USA-made is great, but other countries can make products that are as good if not better.
@BigDaddyPapSmear69 That's great. Then they should support their domestic brands. I just refuse to do so. But really what does it matter anymore. I have zero allegiance to this fake and g@y illusion of a country.
🤣🤣🤣 Cmon... If you did buy them for 20 years, you would puke at these new atrocities...
i am a super fan of coldsteels , LOVE my 4 max scouts here , i own 2 of them n i am wanting the 5 max here BIGTIME for e.d.c. n protection , would love to win one for sure , i am a u.s. marine vet here 93' to 97' active n will forever support you 1 million % cool, thanks > tom !
Unfortunately, the price scares me more than the weapon
Cool short sword/long knife. Lynn’s enthusiasm is contagious. Thanks Stick and T.
Looks like another winner in the Cold Steel lineup. Nice 👍🏻
Awesome knife. Pure cutting power!!
Was looking forward to getting this but after seeing a recent review on SBG I think I'll pass. Apparently they're hand made in India, very inconsistent in weight and not a good representation of the originals. Alas I'll have to keep looking for a decent reproduction cause this one isn't all that.
A work of art for sure, but a plastic handle on a $300.00 sword ?
Lynn Thompson's company makes a great variety of products, I actually met and spoke with Thompson once and he was a real bonafide ass_ole!!!!
for the budget blades not value for the money left anymore. only the you get what you pay for...
That thing looks awesome. Wish y'all had a location in Virginia Beach. I'd love to put my resume in.
It sounds like some futuristic weapon, that's insane! It looks sweet
Nice sword 😊
OH MAN!!! Even on video, that blade is "impressive" and LT's looking GREAT!!! Of course, gotta check that blade out... Great video guys!!!
I recently saw this short sword on the website and was a curious about it. Now with this video it is officially on my bucket list to get.
It's not "JOE X" approved yet!
There's nobody on TH-cam that's better at MISUSING a blade than him.
What a awesome sword ! Well done Cold Steel !
That khyber knife looks awesome!
Very cool! I love swords that have history behind them. Especially African swords becauss rhe designs are so different from European swords
This is an Afghan sword not African
African sword? Pakistan is nowhere near Africa...
It is also the "national sword" of an entire continent, evidently.
Bruh he clearly said Afghan.
I have used and owned many cold still products this is something special.
MAKE A COMBAT SYTHE WITH ADJUSTABLE OR CUSTOMIZABLE HANDLES !!!!!!!!!! $$$$$$$$$$$ STOP MAKING THOSE WEAPONS AND MAKE THINGS LIKE THAT. MOST BLADES AND WEAPONS ARE FOR COLLECTION AND A SYTHE LOOKS GOOD.
BADASS Sword !!!
can't khyber..pass up this giveaway
liked commented been subbed entered newsletter again too.
This would be nice to have on camp-outs too!
If I was going in to hand-to-hand combat WAR.. I would still rather take the old school Cold Steel Gladius over this.
Would look great in my collection.
All I can say is wow that's awesome
Outstanding!! I wanted 1 as soon as I seen it. Absolute Killer blade ColdSteel!!
Y’all are lucky you can make some decent blades because your shipping time sucks.
That things looks it has hate forged into the blade. Very fucking metal.
Cool.
Awesome new offering. Looking forward to grabbing one.
In Love with cold steel products
Awesome Blade!
awesom this the yatagan and the kukry are my fhavorits
Awesome Sword!
This long knife is AWESOME ‼️
Looks awesome!
Who are thease people in the beginning of the video! The new owners ?
I wish lynn wouldn't have sold cold steel.
That Khyber knife is a awesome rendition of the Afghan blade, and now I got to have one.
Ah gotta love Cold Steel, just when I was looking for a khyber bowie, this video pops up. Thank you papa Lynn
I want that sword.
Thats one ugly piece of metal
I think this would have been such a unique knife if the handle and knife were one solid piece of metal. Like the drop forged series. Just one chunk of shining carnage. That's what I thought initially and my jaw dropped to the floor. Not a huge fan of the "traditional" accents. I think a modern twist on traditional weapons would be more unique and vicious
This looks like an excellent size!
NICE afghan salawar!
It is pesh-kbaz
thats a Sword i would love to own
Stick..... your videos have really gotten better, good job stepping up your game!!!
I would really love to add this one to my collection.
A fine addition to my collection!
Отличный нож!
Other knife companies- "its shave sharp out the box"
Lynn Thompson - "it'll cut through turbans"
That’s a bad mother hubber
How is it a "National African Sword", Africa isn't a nation, dude. Then, he goes on to talk about Afghanistan and then Persia? 🤦♂️🤣
Please make Dayak Kampilan sword and Caucasian Kindjal dagger, also Alexander the Great style Falcata shaped Kukri sword would be epic
Chicken dinner?
This, sir, is a survival steak knife for those that consume tomahawk ribeyes ...
Excellent video!
Took ya long enough!! I've only been pestering you about making a Khyber knife and a Turkish Yataghan since the 2nd special projects catalog came out!!!! Now you just need to do the Yataghan!!! 😝 Bravo man, this looks gorgeous!!!
Holy Crap I got a real one in my collection. Been trying to figure out what it was and now I know! It's stamped Nepal and its got the T back running completely down the spine.
Heavy👍
I'm sorry, but did anybody edit this? "One of the few things I admire about the African people is their national sword." Did no one say anything? Africa isn't a single nation, and maybe don't say there are few things to respect about them? That's just poor word choice.
Always knew those would be wicked in the thrust. Still find it odd that according to historical accounts the Afgans didn't thrust with it but instead almost exclusivly favored the cut.
This blade is perfect for backstabbing. If you know what I mean😊
Omy Gooodness Now thatsa Sword 2 late 4 contest but always a FaN !! CS never ceases 2 Amaze or Tanalyze !
I've been looking for somwthing almost exactly like this khyber for years now. What a stunning profile
Honestly can't remember the last time I heard the word bitchin' used in that context. But Lynn is right, that's a bitchin' blade! Gonna hafta add that to my CS roster. 👍😁
Damn! I’ve always liked the look of these, but I figured the T spine would hinder cutting ability. Thanks for proving me wrong. 👍
He had me until he called it a "bad boy"... I despise cliches that everyone is using... still it's an incredible blade...
Winner Winner Chikn Dinner
Absolutely beautiful Afghan sword! Well done guys!
I want a viking sword,, but one with a historically accurate handle length, as well as a historically accurate offset and slightly rotated pommel. Dimicator discusses this and a possible reason for the consistently offset and rotated pommel, which is to allow for a particular grip style.
With all these foolish tacticool guys who makes tacticalness their whole personality ....they really need to listen and take advice from lynn...people like lynn, jerry miculek,hickock45 are those that i look upto who preach realisticness over tacticoolness....hats off to lynn who inspired me to be better❤👌🫡🫡🫡🫡
Make more 😔🫴🏻
Damn, I was just looking at this sword type and wishing I could get it from somewhere.
Looks like a shortened version of Samschir...i think i spelled that right.
Liked, shared, commented and subscribed! Y’all are awesome!
Ooh, that Khyber looks like an awesome short sword! I need one😅
exciting sword
a functional sword, that is awesome

A functional butcher knife as well. For avid meat eaters, of coarse!
Pick me pick me pick me
Take my money plz
Now THAT is a bad ass knife/sword!!!! C’mon Santa!!!
So I got one came with a cracked handle on both sides I think it's par for the course on the construction of the blade. I got it swapped out took a little longer than I wanted it to but I would buy that blade 100 more times😊
look like very sharp that sword , see the swing blade balance , tough sword
I'm not going to lie. I fell in love with this blade, when I first saw it in the Clive Barker film Nightbreed.
a functional sword, that is awesome
sounds like a great backup home defense device
love that this dude has a side arm during demonstration
They also commonly used a Lohar. Like a Kama but it folded.
