Man you guys nailed it! The explanations are clear, reasons why you are doing things. i.e.; using the whole body not just elbow to release of extra energy. The cradle, finger placement, rotation, even the alignment of straight blade to penetration. From the balls of your feet up through hips, shoulders, and follow through release. FN awesome, anyone who couldn't pick up the basics might wanna try different hobby. Gonna have to buy a practice/trainer, even on fixed income I know I'll enjoy this 100%. Love the content.
Ive been throwing with rotation for a few years and qhat you said in the beginning is obviously correct - distance determines the 'sticks'. There are modifications you can make like holding the blade or handle or creeping up in your grip the further away from your natural rotating stick distance but it always resolves to a distance thing. Instinctive has always been on my to-do list but I've found it a most unnatural feel and cant get enough sticks to start throwing with any conviction. I cant wait to try this technique. It looks promissing.
To be honest with you I didn’t even really know that a no spin throw existed until a couple months ago. I was underground above thing this technique for 12 years before even considering somebody else’s style just trying to make one of my old favourite movies. A reality I hope you enjoy it as long as you follow the steps. I’m sure you will be great at it.
Hey man thanks for posting this. This looks like a lot of fun once you get your technique down. Also, I really like how you thought it through on the sheath, even manufacturing a lock to keep it from falling out. I had to buy all my sheaths separately for my other throwers. Really like everything about this.
Thanks man. I really appreciate it. I’ve put a lot of work into it. I’m sure it’s going to get better along the way as well. This is just the beginning. Good things take time and greet things take forever.
That’s true. It’s for like a fixed blade type knife like a carry knife. I learned this originally with the buck 119 or the Smith and Weston surgeon rescue but the knives broke too much. They weren’t meant for that job. This knife is built for this technique.

There is another technique to throw with perfectly straight trajectory that can be done with almost any shape of knife, Yuri Fedin's wave style. th-cam.com/video/FI8ihEy1qzg/w-d-xo.html
@@Dartknife Right and I assume you were one of them. What motivated you to spend so much time inventing a new style when techniques like Thorn, Mumyou-Ryu and Wave were already well known? Don't get me wrong I am glad you did, I own 2 dart knives already and have spent the past 2 months practicing every day. It's an incredibly fun and satisfying way to throw for sure. But Fedin's Wave style has all the same features. Straight auto-correcting trajectory, speed, power and arguably more versatility because you can throw nearly any pointy object crossguard or no. EDIT: Your Dart style has clear advantages too of course, the main one being accuracy. Throwing on a line from eye to target makes your style very reliable and consistent, especially for an instinctive throw. I was just wondering whether or not you were somehow dissatisfied with the other no spin techniques or simply wanted a fun new challenge? Either way what you created is one of the most clever and elegant styles of throwing, thank you for sharing it and posting these amazing tutorials :)
@@ryangrey8338 I just came out on social media like three months ago and before that I knew nothing of the no spin throwing technique I didn’t really know much about anybody else’s technique. I ended up watching the movie daredevil and seen bull’s-eye throw straight through like I do now and decided that I am going to do that and I practised for many years before I learned how to rotate the knife like a bullet, it was only recently decided that I am going to show my technique to the rest of the world and when I did, I realized that there is a lot of different techniques so basically I was ignorant
If you look at my other video throw like bull’s-eye, you’ll have a better idea of where I got this from. I ended up going on an epic adventure and living in the woods for a long time while trying to develop this technique but that was like 12 years ago
this is really neat, I found you thanks to Adam. I will say though that as cool as this is, the Skanf method would be more effective in my opinion. It can be very discrete but at the same time it harnesses much more power then you can just by the laws of physics. the Skanf method is a reflexive throw that can be used at any distance and what makes it superior is that the method teaches you to incorporate a whipping motion through your body, generating angular momentum forces wich multiply the power as you shorten the radius of the whipping motion. a girl whos trained in this method will have more throwing power then you I would gander just based on the physics of the throw Your also able to have a much better grip with the skanf method, meaning you can channel all your focus and power into getting the whip down and releasing it correctly. Another benefit is the stelth of the movement. you have to do a whole windup to get power. if you actually need to use this in self defence, that's a big give away and if some one is armed, you will be a target. With the Skanf method, you could create a whipping motion as you have your hand down and turn your body to the right, your shoulder will initiate the movement and you bring your arm through behind a bit. When you switch directions to start the "crack" part of the movement that multiplies the power in it, your hand will still be mostly behind you. the moment the knife could be visible is in the last 1/4th second of the throw where the centrifugal forces accumulate in your wrist as "crack" it forward, pushing all the accumulated and multiplied power into the knife where you then use your index finger to steer the rotation of the knife so that it lands where you want it to go.
When is it useful to throw a knife? Maybe if it's knife v knife and there is some distance between you and attacker AND you have a back up in case you miss (but that's an awful lot of maybes).... Otherwise I'd rather hold onto it and know how to use it up close.
