    This vintage Honda motorcycle was gifted to me on my birthday last year and I have had plans to build it into a cafe racer / brat style / scrambler build.
    Unfortunately, one of the biggest issues with a 1981 honda cb650 ( specifically a honda cb650 custom ) is that the frame has a weird "bend" in it. This makes it especially hard when trying to figure out how to mount a cafe racer seat hoop in preparation for a cafe racer style seat. Fabricating a diy cafe racer seat hoop / cafe racer frame hoop will be a bit tricky, but here at thebsrecord diy how to projects are our specialty. I think we can figure it out!

    I'm so happy the shocks worked for you. I have an 81 CB650 with a Texavina seat and ran into the same issue with my rear hoop. Ordered 14.5 inch shocks that just arrived. So relieved you haven't experienced any bottoming out.

      @thatdeadbird_llc thanks! I will say the shock are a bit stiff but I would rather not bottom out haha. I was thinking of trying to incorporate a hard stop just in case.

    The quad exhaust really makes the bike pop, other than the gas tank color and the stiff shocks, this is a pretty good looking cafe racer.

      Thanks man! I agree the quad exhausts are really growing on me!

    Instead of holding the choke, when you cold started, give it a few pumps of gas and it starts right up

    Great video. Just bought an '81 CB650 custom. Wasn't sure if I would do a cafe, but after watching you're build, I might. Thanks so much.

    hello
    I'm Hernando, your video is great
    I am from Cali Colombia Latin America, I am restoring a 1972 Honda CB500 four motorcycle, but it has a CB650 SHOWA 460-841 front suspension similar to the one in the video, in my country it is very difficult to get parts and I am searching on eBay but it has not been easy, I would appreciate your help, sharing the link or the eBay seller where you got the 37-50-11 oil seals and dust seal.
    I would greatly appreciate your help and guidance and to be able to buy the right seals for the motorcycle.

      @TheBSRecord  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey man, thanks for the comment! I bought all of the seals and dust covers from a company called 4into1. You can go to their website, 4into1(dot)com, and see if they have the right parts for your build! Hope this helps!

    Beautiful daily runner build friend!
    Questions if I may:
    1. Where did you get the gauges, and are the 4 lights integrated therein? (Neutral, Hi Beams, Oil, Turn)
    2. How did you wire up a license plate light?
    Thank you!

    • @TheBSRecord
      @TheBSRecord  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! I got the gauges off Dime City Cycles:
      - 2.5" Black Mini Tachometer w/ Black Face - (1:4 Ratio)
      - 2.5" Black Mini Speedometer w/ Black Face & LED Indicator Lights
      The license plate light has the positive wire running to one of the main connectors in the wiring harness. It just needs to be hooked up to keyed 12v. Hope this help!

      I still have it but haven't done much with it since the last video. I got a bit burnt out to be honest. But with that being said I should be getting back in it soon 👍

    Hi there, first off, love the way the bike came out. I have a CB650c 1980 that I am sorting out. One thing I want to do is replace the handle bar to the one you have. If possible, can you send me the nMe of the one you added to your CB? Thanks for the time

    • @TheBSRecord
      @TheBSRecord  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! I am pretty sure I linked the bars in the video description. If I recall correctly, they were called EMGO bars of amazon.

    I’d love to do this to my 81’. So for the LED turn signals, did you need a relay? Not sure what I need to get.

      To each their own! I personally think it looks better after replacing the rear fender and seat, but I understand it isn't everyones cup of tea. Thanks for tuning in and watching though!
