@@hognutz632 oh WOW. I suspected Wendell was an oddball like me but I always held off on saying he had full-blown Asperger's because he masks it SO WELL. He's so funny and socially expressive. The female co-host always struck me as Aspy. The male co-host did not. BTW I'm Aspy, recently diagnosed.
I am a big fan of Arctic (see what I did there). They may not be the quietest or have the most air flow. They are plenty quiet and have great flow for a very reasonable price. I try to keep a pack of fans in my build stuff "just in case" and use their thermal paste on most things.
Intel cpu memory controller is susceptible to cpu mounting of the socket. I suggest prior to installing the cpu and ram, to use electronics cleaner on the cpu, cpu socket, ram and ram socket. Use liberally and flush any oils or micro debris out of those inter connects. Finger prints can cause slow speeds as well. Its way more sensative than most people think
Thanks for both the idea of DIY case monitor and the print file for a mount to the O11Dynamic. Not something I need, but definitely caught my attention.
I just built my eldest son a 12900K based system using this motherboard and I am very pleased with the outcome. Was able to overclock it to 5.376Ghz all P.core and 4.3Ghz E.cores. The Bios is very friendly to use, I would have appreciated greatly if you would have gone into bios settings in this video but for some reason you didn't. I like this motherboard so much that I ordered another one for my 14900K which currently sits in a Z690 ROG Strix DDR4 build. I was able to get the memory to 7000 on the 12900K on two sticks but we'll see how it behaves on the 14900k. I am at 6.2Ghz with the Strix, I hope this motherboard will also allow me this level of overclock. Thank you for the review.
I'm just starting a Z790 LiveMixer Build today! Please post your parts list, most importantly which DDR5 RAM speed is running stable on your board. TKS.
@@tenzy3809, It should work out of the box without issues but please keep in mind that with all the issues Intel is having with games crashing I cannot advise in building anything right now, if you intend to overclock. I have had to set mine to default clocks since writing this comment and it will not overclock at all without causing crashes and general unstableness.
Props to ASRock for actually doing something interesting and staying out of controversies. I'am planning to go with them for both my mainboard and GPU for my upcoming build.
Easy to run 9 27 inch moms off any gpu with 3 dp outs. The secrete is the dp to hdmi hubs. With usb power, all the usb power cables go to 1 usb switch with a power switch. Boot that machine, power cycle the switch and boom 9x 1080p Trading station.
Dark Power 13 have a problem with the fan controller, every unit I've tried (3 different ones from different stores) have a low-frequency hum/buzzing from the fan, and very loud revving noise at high rpm. Apparently the newest units have fixed this, but they didn't recall the affected units and play dumb when you report it to them. Most reviewers don't notice it because it needs a really quiet build to be obvious. I needed the size and wanted the spec of the Dark Power 13 so I modded mine with an externally controlled Noctua fan and it's now very quiet, but the average user cannot be expected to do this.
i really... REALLY... need an oldschool green PCB motherboard. how do they not think that all the 30-60 y/o retro nerds won't buy the shit out of a modern chipset in classic green PCB
When I browse for motherboards I just search for the green PCB motherboards. That mostly filters out the unnecessary b******t gamer boards :-). Screen inside the PC?
that orange livemixer is the only reason why i considering AM5😅i don´t need it but i want it🤩btw for the KS um z790 taichi carrara? good choice? put money aside
How about use, one of those display over usb devices, then you dont waste any, of the built in ones? Also, since those usb devices are not that high end, it will work out great!
Please someone make a SATA controller that has 16 lanes, using 4 miniSAS connectors, on an M.2-2280 or 22110 I dont need it to be fast, but it would be cool if those 16 drives could run close to their theoretical 4800MB/s with those 16TB EXOS drives(295MB/s per drive in my testing)
Does somebody know the IOMMU grouping of this board? And as I understand, this board has an extra PCIe USB controller for those yellow ports on the back? Does that controller support hot-swapping (or has it somekind of reset bug like asmedia controllers sometimes do?). If the USB controller works properly this seems THE perfect VFIO board where you can passthrough a dedicated USB controller to the virtual machine!
The display port on the mobo graphics iGPU is a good idea. The previous Iris Xe graphics (UHD 750, usually on an i9 of say 8 cores) got criticism from people who wanted to use it for gaming even though they were bound to use a dedicated GPU instead and merely relegate the iGPU for testing in case an expansion card GPU were to fail. There were use case scenarios for the intel iGPU that were simply beyond gaming. the fact that the Iris made headwy on successful embedded system s of low power draw shows it was for business or productivity applications and sceince. The i9 UHD 750 Iris Xe iGPU graphics have potential passthrough, and there are similar views people can tae on the 10 core CPU of other generations. An obvious use case scenario is the ability to use 8 cores _(either as all 8 cores without VM on an octacore CPU or as an 8 core VM on a 10 core system, leaving 2 cores to run the desktop)_ for file integriity checks such as blake2sp, such as with a graphics file like a RAW or JEPG or BMP or whatever. Then the iGPU (passthrough or not) is used for image processing such as Gaussian blur or elimination. The ability to use a 10core CPU wit pasthrough means a person can be happy with using approximately half the capacity of the iGPU outside a VM on the 2 remaining cores for running the desktop environment and the using 8 cores in a VM for file integrity checks on an image file whilst the other half of the iGPU has passthrough for Gaussian functions or whatever else it needs to do for image processing, repeatedly chugging away in the background because the 2 CPU cores outside the VM are enough to run the desktop enviroment. Having a display port could have helped that alot, especially with a long cable as the machine sits far away. My comment has no hate in it and I do no harm. I am not appalled or afraid, boasting or envying or complaining... Just saying. Psalms23: Giving thanks and praise to the Lord and peace and love. Also, I'd say Matthew6.
Honnestly i don't know for my next system, But this board made me think of going back to intel. But this time around i think its hard to pick the right system parts. I also have some post of my next build but that is still the case in the Level 1 forum, About the holes in the motherboard tray why is that ?
@Level1Techs - whats the best way to setup one of these displays with X, a second copy of x dedicated to the internal display running without a window manager or something else?
Love your content!!! Ever use the Metallica Gear / Cube 2? I'm doing a dual system and I'm probably gonna use the mixer mobo for a 7950x. Any thoughts? Thanks
While l like the Live Mixer line, mainly because it reminds me of old DFI motherboards from the early to mid 2000's, I didn't like the PCI-e placement. I ended up going with Asrock's Z790 Pro RS Wifi instead. The spacing and placements of the PCIe's were better for my needs.
There's no way I'd have that god aweful mobo in my case cause I hate the graffiti aesthetic, but I'm glad it exists because I tire of the same old black and metal we get with every board today. I'd like to see more AIBs experiment with different colors, maybe swappable shields that can't cost _that_ much to add on. It's also got solid connectivity for only $250 when all the AIBs think we should be paying $300 for entry level boards anymore.
I sure wish I would have went with asrock over asus.. ugh.. I have asrock boards from early 2000s still running w98, xp and w7. I cant say the same for asus..
