In this post we are going to know about Adiseshan. Adhiseshan... Adhiseshon is the one who can withstand Sriman Narayan, the protector of the world. Nityasuris are those who perform Nitya Kaingaryam at Srivaikunda for Thirumal. Ananthan, Garuda, Vishwaksena etc. are important among such. Admires Ananth as Adisesha. He was born as the son of sage Kasibha and Katruvi.
Adisashan is known as sleeping Vishnu's bed in the ocean of milk. He has 1000 heads. Legend has it that he supports the world with his thousand heads. When Tirumal was in deep sleep, the demons Madhu and Kaitabar came to fight. Then Adisashan spewed poisonous fire from his thousand mouths and prevented the demons from approaching Tirumala.
Wherever Thirumal goes, he never leaves Adisesan. Both have such a similarity. This is why Adisesan incarnated as Thirumal's companion in each of Vishnu's incarnations. In Ramavatara, Ramabran incarnated as his younger brother Lakshmana. He incarnated as Balarama as Kannan's brother.
When Rama incarnated as an aspect of Nammalwar in Alwar Thirunagari, Adisesar took the form of a tamarisk tree and became his abode. This is why Tirukurukur, known as Azhwar Thirunagari, the incarnation place of Nammalwar, is still known as Sesha Kshetram i.e. Abode of Adhisation. In this kshetra, Adiseshan is the tamarind tree.
If Thirumal is Paravasudeva in Srivaikunda, he becomes the throne on which the Lord sits. If Lord Vyuha incarnates in the ocean of milk and becomes Vishnu, he himself becomes a cotton mattress. When Thirumal walks, he becomes an umbrella. When Krishna incarnated, he became an umbrella while crossing the river Yamuna.
If Thirumal stops, Adishesan becomes Thiruvadi. Seshatri became the hill for Thirumalayappan to stand on. Adisesha can perform all services for Tirumal at any place at any time.
Now let's look at the history of Adisashan becoming Tirumal's bed.
There was a city called Bhogavati in Nagaloka. It was the capital of the Nagas. One day the Nagas who lived there came to Ananta and prayed that you be our leader. But Adishashan told Sriman Narayan that he wanted to do Kaingaryam. He then blessed his brother and crowned him Sarbaraja. He renounced the palace and pleasures and reached Aranya. He did severe penance for Lord Vishnu. After a long time, seeing Ananta's penance, Lord Vishnu appeared before him and asked him what boon he wanted.
Anantan Thirumale for that! He asked that I should never lose my devotion to you, that I should always have the privilege of serving you by your side, and for that you should give me the boon of being your bed.
Thirumal praised Anantan's devotion. So far I have seen penitents asking for the kingdom and eternal life. Your love and devotion make me happy. He gave me a boon that you will be my bed from now on according to your will. From that day Anantha became Vishnu's serpent bed. Maha Vishnu performed yoga on Shesan for one hundred Kalpagoti. At those times, Anantan made sure that Vishnu's sleep was not interrupted.
இப்பதிவில் நாம் ஆதிஷேசனை குறிந்து அறிந்துகொள்ளவிருக்கிறோம்.
ஆதிஷேசன்......உலகினைக் காக்கும் சிரீமன் நாராயணனையே தாங்கி இருக்ககூடியவர் ஆதிஷேசன்.
திருமாலுக்கு ஸ்ரீவைகுண்டத்தில் நித்ய கைங்கர்யங்களை செய்துகொண்டு இருப்பவர்களை நித்யசூரிகள் என்பர். அத்தகையவர்களுள் அனந்தன், கருடன், விஷ்வக்சேனர் போன்றோர் முக்கியமானவர்கள். அனந்தனை, ஆதிசேஷன் என்று போற்றுவர்.
இவர் காசிப முனிவருக்கும் கத்ருவிக்கும் மகனாக பிறந்தவர்.
பாற்கடலில் துயில் கொள்ளும் பகவான் விஷ்ணுவின் படுக்கையாக அறியப்படக்கூடியவர் ஆதிசேசன். இவர் 1000 தலைகளை கொண்டவராக திகழ்கிறார்.
இவர் தனது ஆயிரம் தலைகளால் உலகத்தை தாங்கிக்கொண்டு இருப்பதாக புராணங்கள் கூறுகின்றன.
மது, கைடபர் ஆகிய அரக்கர்கள் திருமால் ஆழ்ந்த உரக்கத்திலிருந்த போது போரிட வந்தனர். அப்பொழுது ஆதிஷேசன் தனது ஆயிரம் வாய்களாலும் விஷ ஜ்வாலையைக் கக்கி, அரக்கர்கள் திருமாலை நெருங்க முடியாதபடி தடுத்தவர்.
திருமாள் எங்கே சென்றாலும் ஆதிசேஷனை விட்டு பிரிய மாட்டார். அப்படியொரு அந்நோன்யம் இருவருக்கும் உண்டு. ஆதிசேஷனே ராமாவதாரத்தில், ராம்பிரானது தம்பி லட்சுமணனாக அவதரித்தார். கிருஷ்ணாவதாரத்தில் கண்ணனது அண்ணன் பலராமனாக அவதாரம் செய்தார்.
ராமனின் அம்சமாகவே நம்மாழ்வார் ஆழ்வார் திருநகரியில் அவதரிக்க, ஆதிசேஷனோ அவரது வாசஸ்தலமாக புளியமரமானார். இதனால்தான் நம்மாழ்வார் அவதார ஸ்தலமாகிய ஆழ்வார் திருநகரி எனப்படும் திருக்குருகூர் இன்றும் கூட சேஷ க்ஷேத்திரம் அதாவது ஆதிசேஷன் இருப்பிடம் என்ற பெயரால் அழைக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. இந்த க்ஷேத்திரத்தில் ஆதிசேஷன் புளிய மரமாக இருக்கிறார்.
ஸ்ரீவைகுண்டத்தில் திருமால் பரவாசுதேவனாக இருந்தால், இவர் இறைவன் அமர்வதற்கு சிம்மாசனம் ஆகி விடுகிறார். பாற்கடலில் எம்பெருமான் வ்யூஹ அவதாரம் செய்து மகாவிஷ்ணுவாக இருந்தால், இவர் தானே பஞ்சுமெத்தை ஆகி விடுகிறார்.
திருமாள் நடந்து சென்றால், அவருக்கு குடையாகி விடுகிறார்.
கிருஷ்ண அவதாரம் செய்த போது யமுனை நதியைக் கடக்கும் போது குடையானார். திருமால் நின்றால், தானே அவர் திருவடிக்கு பாதுகை ஆகி விடுகிறார். திருமலையப்பன் நிற்பதற்காக சேஷாத்திரி மலை ஆனார்.
