Albrecht von Wallenstein (Albrecht z Valdštejna) built many important palaces the most famous is Wallenstein palace (Valdštejnský palác) in Prague is very favourite location for tourists due to a beautiful garden surrounding full statues it also houses what is now a days Czech Senate.
Hi guys, Albrecht z Valdštejna ( Albrecht von Wallenstein ) was a very interesting personality, a very smart guy and also an excellent manager. His destiny is also interesting and was predected by a famous astrologist Johannes Kepler. If you go to Prague, you can visit his palace ( Wallenstein Palace - a beautifull place ) and gardens and also make a trip to his Friedland ( Frýdland) Castle. A very nice one day trip out of Prague..
It would be really cool if you could add a small scale showing the moral of the armies (maybe from 1-10). That would improve this already informative video!
Thank you for continuing the 30YW series. This time however your sources have let you down as both the map and the description of the battle is missing key parts. The map lacks the terrain including woods, marsh and and hills which created a narrow and pretty defensible position but also made it possible to outflank the Danish position by taking great risks. The position was more narrow than shown which forced the armies to deploy in depth with only a limited number of regiments able to cross the stream and fight at any one time. (Tilly's intial attack was made with only four regiments with 25 companies of cavalry and 20 of infantry, about 4000 men in total) The part of the battle which is missing in the video is the intial attack by Tilly which saw the Catholic troops being counter-attacked by the Danes after they had crossed the stream but before they were able to get back into proper formations. All but one of the Catholic regiments were shattered and driven back across the stream with the Danes in hot pursuit. The Danish counter attack pressed Tilly's troops hard but without support from the Danish 2nd line they were defeated as superior numbers of Catholic troops entered the fray supported by close range artillery fire. The defeat and rout of the entire 1st line of Danish troops was a heavy blow to the Danes and shook their morale. There was no Catholic flank attack across the Neille, this is a missinterpretation of the destruction of two Danish cavalry regiments which took part in the corner where the Neille and Hummecke meet but on the ”Catholic” side of the Hummecke. The banks of the Neille and Hummecke are quite marshy in this are which made it impossible for the Danes to escape, the marsh also prevented a flanking movement on that side. The only flank attack took part on the Catholic right flank i.e the Danish left flank where the woods made it possible for 3 regiments of Imperial cavalry to move unseen to the flank and rear of the Danish army. This flank attack was met by a desperate and fierce counter-charge by the Rhinegraf Otto Ludwig in command of the Danish 3rd line but he could not contain the Imperial troops for long and the morale of the bulk of the Danish army had collapsed at the apperance of these new troops as a rumor spread that it was Wallensteins entire army. Based on the gaps in the video I gues that you have relied heavily on Peter Wilson's ”Europes Tragedy”, it has some problems when it's comes to the detailed military history of the 30YW, the battle maps vary greatly in quality from pretty good such as White Mountain, Wittstock, Freiburg and Jankau to flawed such as Lutter and then rather horrible with as much fiction as fact such as Breitenfeld. There are also strange ones like Nördlingen which gets the terrain right but not troop positions and movement. The second issue is that there are is evidence that some battles descriptions were hastily edited at a late stage to reduced the size of the book (which as you know is massive) and this has created a lot of errors due to parts of battles suddenly missing as was the case with Lutter or parts missing the 2nd half of events such as Jankau. These missing parts are often not easy to spot unless one is already familiar with the battles and the sources used by Wilson.
17th century politics are so interesting. I love how complex and loose the Holy Roman Empire was, with seemingly contradictory and inscrutable webs of loyalties, irregular administrative regions, and constant infighting. I especially find the concept of free cities fascinating. It's all so weird and nonsensical I can't even wrap my head around how the German state machinery worked. Looking at it in this video it seems as though it shouldn't have worked at all.

His personality and his ambition was also the reason the Emperor was jealous of him and assassinated him.

Hi, absolutly so but I didn't want to post it in my comment, it surely comes in the next video.
love the total war music
It would be really cool if you could add a small scale showing the moral of the armies (maybe from 1-10). That would improve this already informative video!
Thank you for continuing the 30YW series. This time however your sources have let you down as both the map and the description of the battle is missing key parts.
The map lacks the terrain including woods, marsh and and hills which created a narrow and pretty defensible position but also made it possible to outflank the Danish position by taking great risks. The position was more narrow than shown which forced the armies to deploy in depth with only a limited number of regiments able to cross the stream and fight at any one time. (Tilly's intial attack was made with only four regiments with 25 companies of cavalry and 20 of infantry, about 4000 men in total)
The part of the battle which is missing in the video is the intial attack by Tilly which saw the Catholic troops being counter-attacked by the Danes after they had crossed the stream but before they were able to get back into proper formations.
