I still haven't caught up with the current videos so my comments may be outdated. My comment today is a recommendation on trees and foliage around structures. I worked with the CDF (California Dept. of Forestry) and The USFS (US Forestry Service) on rules for people who lived in wooded areas in the '80s. I was a timber feller and I also gave people advice and I help them prepare their property so they would pass inspection by the appropriate authorities. In the first 3 meters of your structures there should be no trees, brush, fire wood, or fuel stored. Manicured grass is OK if it is kept green and mowed and garden plants are OK. Firewood, and Fuel, (gasoline, Diesel, Motor oil, etc of limited amounts may be stored at least 3 meters from your structures. Larger amounts should be kept farther away in another cleared area. Up to 10 meters you should keep free of all trees, brush, and foliage. Outside that area trees are OK as long as they are green and healthy and they cannot reach within 3 meters of your structures if they fall. All dead limbs should be removed, All dead trees, and all limbs under 8' high should be removed. Brush should be kept to a minimum. Remember this is just advice. Fire doesn't care how much you love your island, your belongings, your life for that matter. I hope this is helpful. Randy
Hello hello!! After reading your advice this evening, Ryan and I both agree that you have some solid advice here. Right away Ryan said, 'Let's make sure we do all of this'...I totally agreed. Thank you so much for your expertise and sage words of wisdom. Much appreciated my friend 💚
Maybe you can use the bucket to raise the front of the track up as far as possible. Put small lengths of log under the track as far back as possible. Keep putting wood toward front under the track, maybe it will cantilever over onto the wood and raise the rear track up so you can put wood under the track in back. Maybe it will get traction and come out of that hole.
Good job getting the tree down Ryan. Ryan you got yourself in to a pickle there haven't you. Where there's a will there's a way. Have a great week my friends ☕️ 🇨🇦❤️
Ohhh yaaay!! We've got another episode going up this morning at 11:30am PST. 😆 You think like I do... I thought it might be worth a try just to see if the barge might be an option. Thank you so much for watching! 💚
My daughter and i had a few 'you've been framed' moments trying to chop down trees this week. How i wish someone had been filming it / we had a bit of kit like yours! 👏🏽👏🏽😂👍🏼
Wow you guys have made so much progress so wonderful to see what you have been up to. I was so happy for you solving how to get the tree down that would have been above our pay!! LOL! Then oh no pepper gets stuck! Its like 3 steps forward t steps back ugh!! I habe a feeling you got this!!
Hello Lori! Thank you so much! Did you know that Regina is Ryan's hometown? 💚 My Mom is from Shamrock, Saskatchewan - such wonderful people from that Province!
If it's not one thing it's another. You guys know how to keep us entertained that's for sure 😅 I have no doubt you guys figured out how to get Pepper free.
Awww... thank you Sarah! These things just happen and my personal preference would be for a bit of a smoother path buuut.... it doesn't always work out that way 😆 😂
Do as Jim says to do !!! Or Wait until the water comes up so the barge will be able to be the next piece of land for it then go around the Island to the Other side to let Pepper on off then !!! Put up RED Flags to know where you can go with Pepper next time !!! I read the comments for helping myself out also !!!
Great idea with the flags. I knew that it was boggy down there but I think Ryan felt it had dried up enough because that was further into the summer... the lake was getting quite a bit lower...
you need logging chains and logging chaps, a hard hat and saftey googles when dealing with widow makers, your lucky it didnt spring back and smash you and pepper as it was bound between stump and tree
Yes, I have been slapped by a few people for that one. Thank you so much. We plan on getting all the safety gear. Since my fall, I am ALL about safety now. No more reckless cowboy antics from THIS guy! Thank you for the admonishment, I needed it and welcome it. -Ryan
From programs I've watched you would be better served using a TRAC HOE like you rented to knock those trees down. Dig out the roots all around and shove.. . I know how's are EXPENSIVE but it would be much more EFFECTIVE than your Kubota !!!!!
Where is your puppy when you are pushing trees over I’d be scared. One would fall on..🤨 I had 13 trees down in a ice storm many yrs ago. You wont regret Cleaning out the ones around your cabin, could endanger your life.
Welcome and thank you for watching! My goodness!! 13 trees in one storm - that must have been so hard. Oh yes, Opal was either tethered or in the cabin when they came down - she is a very anxious rescue dog from Mexico. She is typically on a tether - it gives her some sort of comfort unless I'm right with her. Our first season she went missing for 12 hours so we have to keep her tethered so she feels safe. At the end of the season she was running around more on her own - when we got back to our home base, for the first few weeks she just couldn't do it again, was so anxious and scared. She's getting there though 💚 It'll always be something we are watchful of.

Your right about that! 💚
Getting that stubborn dead tree out was a nail biter and hope Pepper finds himself back on level ground soon 🙏🏼❤

That tree sure gave you some issues. Now hopefully you can get Pepper out of that hole. 👍🏻
Hey there!! The thing is... that's not the only tree we have to deal with in the future... yikes!! Thank you for watching! 💚

bring your in law back to do the logging
I wish. I keep asking him, and he keeps threatening to come back one day. We'll see what happens. Thanks so much for watching. -Ryan
From what I've seen of your terrain a BRUSH HOG would serve you well !!
That's for sure! 💚 Thank you for watching and stay tuned 😉
always work from clearing in to woods which you did opposite
Do you mean drop a tree, then pull it out and clear it before dropping the next tree that is deeper into he woods? -Ryan
