I usually hate cutting trees down, and OJ knows that! LOL but you have no shortage. I’d be clearing a nice big area so you don’t have to worry about them coming down. You can always plant some new ones where you want them. ~ Deb
I really am the same way - we have thousands of them here but I still have a hard time taking them out unless, as you say, they are dangerous. We are now getting a safer place around the perimeter of the cabin and the solar array - there is so much to do though and so unfortunately others will have to come down.
Exactly - I always want to be very cautious with the truck (and Pepper) but once it's here if anything happens to the barge, then we'd be in a bit of a bind. Thank you for watching! ⛈
I'll let Ryan know your advice - are you speaking of where to mount the solar panels? He has really been studying up on what position would best work and it's a bit of an art. He seems to be getting it and it's wonderful to see it all come together. Thank you for watching!
So to close the hole in the side of the barge get you some JB Weld send the area down and purchase them screen wire over the hole from the inside and JB Weld from the outside or you can do it vice versa
Say... I never thought of using JB for something like that! Thank you for taking the time to put forth this great suggestion! And thank you for watching! -Ryan
If able, and with all the land clearing you need to do, you should consider a forestry mulcher attachment for Pepper. That would chew through all that underbrush in no time.
Loved our weekend morning watch as always 😀 We so relate to the back and forth and different perspectives when you guys were talking about cutting the trees. I'm way more risk adverse, but Russ is confident he can do it.
❤Bless your heart Ryan! I hope your head isn't hurt too badly. 😢 What a video!! Melodi, I hope you calm some. It scares me for you. Opal is having a fun time it appears. Hoping Ryan's cap turns up. 🙏❤
Do you think that Ryan hurt his head? I wonder what made you think that... Oh, and that one scream from me, was just that... I get over things fairly quickly and it was just a gut-reaction. It's a tad bit hard to see one more thing get damaged... too many trips in to get things fixed. I think it might get to a person sometimes. 😂 All good dear Vikki 💚
@@mywildholm I can't even begin to imagine! You two have worked so hard it has to feel like a real gut punch when something else happens. You are both in my prayers that things will go more smoothly and always safely. Love n Hugs to you my friends.
Thank you so much for your support. Patience is a virtue... just in general, after the past year, I've had it tried a little bit more than I prefer, but it's alright. We will keep on 'keeping on'. Onward and upward! 💚
Melodi & Ryan I know of a great place for the solar Panels !!! I DO I DO !!! We make that one area for the housing of Pepper wider then Put them in the middle of that !!! Wire will run to the solar hut for you & Ryan to have there !!! HEY that is a great IDEA !!! It will be in the middle of the Island then for you so it will give POWER to all of the smaller cabins then !!!
Tree felling is a specialist job especially if you want to have it fall in a particular area. Might be wise to get a specialist in to get rid of those trees for you and learn much in the process. I am enjoying your vids.
We just love that! Thank you so much for watching - we really do love it out here. It's a dream come true and we really try to make each moment count. ☀
Doesn’t the lake rise up by so many inches every year ? Like sea levels etc taking over land ? Couldn’t your Sister and Brother in law come over again and help take those extra high trees out so no chance of anything coming down on the tiny home ?
Oh yes, it definitely does. We have made provisions for the rising of the lake and we actually get a bit more land later in the summer too... ☀️ This year the lake didn't seem to rise like it did last year but even so, last year, we still had a good amount of room between the lake and the cabin. We joked that we had waterfront but we actually were in pretty good stead. The big cabin will be even higher than this one is.
Welcome to our channel! We both laughed when we read this. This is such a resourceful comment and one that we should have thought of! Thank you for watching! We have so much more to come 🌞
I like the idea, and I would definitely need tree climbing gear for that. Just wondering if I'm too old to try it. Sure would be safer though. Thanks for watching! -Ryan
Thank you so much for watching!! 😆 🤣 So funny you mention that! It's an ongoing discussion in our home - Ryan says, 'Just say my name... just say my name and I'll stop and listen better'... so... I've been conditioned to say his name 😆 We really appreciate your comments 💚
He did - he put a lot of time and effort contacting companies, devising ways to get them built for us - looking at a way to do himself... you'll see what he comes up with very soon. Thank you so much for watching! 💚
I remember long ago my buddy an I were in a 16' fishing boat. Well over the day it filled up water. Not enough to sink it. So my buddy pulled the plug out of the boat and we put the boat in forward at full speed. And low and behold it drained the water out of the boat ..
to our channel! I think I answered this one not long ago on another episode, I thought it might have been to you too, but I'll copy my answer in case you don't see the other one: Our plan is to build it out so that we can live on the island longer term. We are extending the time we can live out here year by year as we have more infrastructure. That's our whole plan, it's just not quite ready for us to live out in the wild here in the cold winters. ❄️
Thank you for watching! I really don't like to see the trees come down but sometimes it has to happen. I'd say there are more than usual strewn about in the forest and that could be the result of a pine beetle infestation years ago.
@@mywildholm if there a danger to home or human they should come down regardless I'm all for natural surroundings but safety first overgrowth has occurred because the natural habitat was disturbed by the first settlers 💕
Yes, we actually have a bilge pump... just need to find the time to install it. Hopefully, I'll have time during season 3. Thanks so much for watching! -Ryan.

Another great video from you guys, I would be holding my breath bringing the truck to the island in that choppy water🥴good luck🍀
Exactly - I always want to be very cautious with the truck (and Pepper) but once it's here if anything happens to the barge, then we'd be in a bit of a bind. Thank you for watching! ⛈
Cut about 10 feet up the 2 trees put two boards on them and put your panels on them

That is for sure... a dream of Ryan's to have. He does have a stump grinder that works really well too. We'll show that video soon.
It’s too bad that you can’t see if your brother-in-law can stop by to help out again with the trees
Yes, we would love to have Uncle Kent back for a visit. Hopefully soon! Thank you for watching. -Ryan
Fascinating adventures ❤
There's never a full moment 😆

(from Shawn) I'm just glad the prop didn't fall off! Good job overcoming another near disaster.
You and me both! We have diving gear just in case. Thanks for watching. -Ryan
Great job guys👏🏼 Ryan, no rushing on that Kubota young man lol
Thank you so much!! 🤣 It certainly seems a bit of rushing can cause delays... we'll learn that yet 😆
Great episode!! Love you guys ❤
Thank you so much my friend 💗

Amazing video as always. Great sharing. Be safe out there guys.
We appreciate your support so much, thank you!
Bryan don't be to hard on your self every one makes mistakes and learns how to do it
Thank you for your support. We've learned many lessons out here! We appreciate you watching 💚
Ryan* lol
Very sweet comment... Ryan appreciates it 😆
Do you have or thought about a sawmill to cut those logs into lumber to use in building your cabins?
We sure do! Stay tuned my friend and thank you for watching! 💚

Look at the island the Statue of Liberty is on. The water hasn't gone up at all. Except for tides, of course.
Use the drone to look for the cap.

See if you can get a solid rubber plug for the hole and use sealant caulk. Fran🤞
I think that is a really sound idea! I'll let Ryan know that - it makes good sense 💚
I would clear a spot in the woods. They would be hidden and get sun.
Yes, it's such a huge endeavour! The trees are so tall that even from afar, they still block the sun. 🌞
That round hole, u can buy a rubber expandable plug, just sticknin hole and tighten nut, hole pluged untill u need it for bilge or something
That's exactly right! That needs to be in short-order! Have a great rest of your day! 💚
Those are called widow makers..
Yes, yes... most definitely! 💚
Top it then cut it down have to get in it carefully
I like the idea, and I would definitely need tree climbing gear for that. Just wondering if I'm too old to try it. Sure would be safer though. Thanks for watching! -Ryan
Melodi, please use words like stop instead of calling Ryans name. You will get better results. Keep up the great work team.

have tried looking at the tracking solar stands

😆 🤣 😂 wow! That is hilarious! That'll be the next thing we try... enough of this bailing stuff!
Put a plug in hole
He agrees that we need to do that. We'll find one when we are in town next... 💚

If a tree or three fell over and no one saw them fall who,s to say they where helped to fall 😅

We totally agree with you there 💚
Hi is this island in BC Cheers
It sure is, my friend 🌲
call Bucking Billy Ray, split the utube show it'd be great.
Hey!! Now that's a great idea!! 💚
IT IS CALLED HAVING A SUMP PUMP IN THE BOTTON INSIDE WITH A DISCARGE HOLE DE WATERING PUMP
Yes, we actually have a bilge pump... just need to find the time to install it. Hopefully, I'll have time during season 3. Thanks so much for watching! -Ryan.
