  • What a crazy day on the roads in Minnesota. Lost track of the number of accidents & roll overs. This tow truck driver near Avon was not having a good day... 25 minutes of raw video into 90 seconds of Benny Hill like comedy. Drive Safe

      No need really, You will never have a rollover where there are no police, no customer, no fire/ems on scene, all he really needed was either get that car to dig in with a wedge or piece of wood or something or have someone hold the rollover stick before he got tension on the line, otherwise, it's very easy to have that rollover stick fall over or kick out without tension on the line, so either someone holds it while you tighten the winch or you hold it while someone else tightens the winch, I usually ask a cop to help with that part, or if your fancy enough for a remote winch you can do it yourself. No need to go in pairs, that's two paychecks for one truck and one call, one person will be doing significantly more work as only one man can drive and only one many can run the controls at one time, so unless you get a scene bad enough to need a second truck or a few extra hands for rigging then there is no need, I have never needed someone to ride with me on any crash, rollover, or tow I have done, that being said, I have had calls where I needed a second truck to assist in winching in which case the second truck shows up we coordinate to get our rigging setup and we winch out the vehicle together, I have needed a second truck 1 time for light-duty recovery, although a second truck on a scene would be much more common in rough terrain areas with steep hills and ravines and such.

    His truck had a 2nd winch/cable, would have given him a lot more control, plus making sure the boom is raised at the right time to pull the far side of the car upwards would have helped.

    • @towtruckaj
      @towtruckaj 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Disagree, No need for the second cable, And the boom height wasn't the issue, he had the right idea with the rollover stick just not enough experience, and a remote for the winch or an extra hand is usually necessary with a rollover stick as well, It has to be balanced in the right spot before tension is put on it, after it's under tension it's fine, before hand you need a remote or an extra hand, Then it would have rolled fine.

    He could throw some straps and done a full vehicle rollover where they go all the way over under and back around to the bottom/top again so the vehicle has no option but to flip over.

    Snow creates unique challenges. The casualty will not stick & pivot to roll back over in place.
    The only thing I would have done differently would have been to rig the vehicle to roll it away from me to upright it.
    However, having been in those situations... at that point, he was DONE playing with this thing & just wanted it on its wheels.
    It may look ugly. But he got it done.

    Maybe they should train there wanna be tow drivers

    • @towtruckaj
      @towtruckaj 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      He actually had the right idea, Problem is the snow makes the car very easy to spin, which is why that rollover stick would have been the best bet, problem with the rollover stick is 1. it looks like a weird version of one and appeared to have no way of grabbing on to anything to stay still, and two without someone to hold the rollover stick in place before there is enough tension on the cable, it likes to kick out, also if your rollover stick is not in the right place and you don't have it in the right spot on the chain it will also kick it out, I usually just put it where it needs to be (which you learn with experience) and have the cop hold it or I hold it while the cop tightens the winch, then from there it will hold itself to flip.

    • @dennisdidone2813
      @dennisdidone2813 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Get the cop to hold it lol. Center a sister hook so the hook doesn't slid . This job is so easy I hurts to watch. Why waist time with a stiff leg.

    • @towtruckaj
      @towtruckaj 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dennisdidone2813 I always use the rollover stick, Easy no-nonsense method, And I now have a remote with my new truck so no need for any assistance either, Ensure it flips right where it sits every time no issues.

    • @towtruckaj
      @towtruckaj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your statement holds little validity, I am one of those "big dick head recovery drivers" who critiqued and gave tips, I have done quite a few snow rollovers and recoveries, I work in ohio, Snow and ice is not uncommon at all, and I do 100s of recoveries a year, matter of fact I do strictly pd contracts so accidents are a big part of what I do, With the exception of impounds, it is all I do.

  • @snowman374th

    His bad day would've gotten worse. Because I would've fired that guy. The car is probably totaled now. Or it could be with roof damage. He had it right the first time. What he didn't need was the cables in the air. He had the right 2 point hook up too. Just needed to wedge the inside Or pull from a higher point. If you can't you wedge.. You don't drag it upside down. The owner possibly bought that car after seeing this. But!!!! idk.. And who really cares.. See ya
