Kent State fan here. Loved my 2002 Golden Flashes. What a frustrating game. Every time it looked as if the Flashes were going to get back in the game, Indiana would go on another three-point binge. It was Kent's misfortune to play the one team in the field that knew exactly how good they were and was ready for them. I thought the Flashes did well to keep it as close as they did- the way the Hoosiers were shooting they could've easily won by 30 points. No one would've beaten Indiana on this night.
I'm an IU fan and i think even as well as Indiana was playing at this moment, it had to have all of them 3 pfgs to beat a Kent State team that probably could have taken Oklahoma as well in F4. Kent State was that solid. Maryland would have won it in the end though.
I remember this game like it was yesterday. Matter of fact all the games IU played in this tournament run. I do remember thinking, “it was going to be a good night”, when Fife hit his first two threes! Thanks, Loved watching it again!
We watched it from the Sportsbook Room in the Treasure Island in Vegas. About 20 IU fans and alum from all over the country stumbled upon each other and watched it as a fan block. I’ve never had so much fun with complete strangers!!
Yup - most 10-seeds that make it that far are the beneficiary of a broken bracket in their region but not them - they beat the 7, 2, and 3 seeds to get to the Elite Eight. But Indiana wasn't about to be denied by them a second time in two years after knocking off top-ranked Duke the round before.
It's coming. We'll be back within the next 5 years under Mike Woodson. We're underrated this year. I honestly think we'll lead the B1G in 3 pointers. Cupps and Gunn look good. Throw in mgbako, XJ, Ware into that... phew.
Antonio Gates just casually playing in an Elite 8.
Great game!!!!!
Thanks for posting
Antonio Gates as hoopster before starting his HOF career as NFL TE
Grace Waters You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Thanks bigtime. One of my favorites. Blew thm off the court in seconds. Most amazing college shooting display EVER
I was at this game 🙌🏼 as a Kent fan. Indiana could not miss a 3. It got to the point where I would look away and hear the crowd roar.
And yet Kent State fought hard till the end and made Indiana sweat it. Have to respect the effort they gave.
Anytime a college team has 30 wins and defeated you the year before you’d better take them seriously! That Kent State team was tough!

The Hornsby diving save/assist🤩
The game that featured future NFL HOF and NBA played
I always liked Trevor Huffman's game.
14-17 from 3? Thats absurd, even in 2023
I thought I was watching a Golden State Warriors game!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂
Indiana was hitting everything from three point range throughout the whole game.
"It's been 10 years for Indiana fans [to the final four]; that's an eternity for this storied program." Wow, Indiana has waited twice as long now.😔

Wish you were right @@christianburton6184
I think coach knight could have won the championship with this team, since they were all his recruits
Knight had a successful run at Texas Tech though!
Maybe they could have won it all in 2002. They would have needed a healthy Tom Coverdale though
I stayed with this game long enough to see IU miss a 3!!!
Stan Heath was probably thinking "what did I do to deserve this"
When the small schools jerseys were equivalent to highschool jerseys
How did this Kent State team beat Pittsburgh?
Pittsburgh was not as successful from long range
Wish these games existed with better audio this is rough
Happy for anything I can get.
The fucking helicopter my God!!!!
